Veronica Berti Marries Longtime Boyfriend Andrea Bocelli

Andrea Bocelli and married longtime girlfriend Veronica Berti in Italy Friday, exchanging vows on on their daughter Veronica’s second birthday.

The couple of twelve years tied the knot at the Sanctuary of Madonna di Montenero in a the western coastal Tuscan village of Montenero, near Livorno.

The sanctuary dates to the 1300s and was built up into a basilica that was consecrated in 1818, according to the church’s website.

The intimate ceremony was attended by family and guests, including Bocelli’s sons from a previous marriage,  Amos, 19, and Matteo.

The seven-time World Music Award winner was previously married to their mother, Enrica Cenzatti. The couple split in 2002, the same time Bocelli met Berti, who is also his manager. This is Berti’s first marriage.

Bocelli, 55, and Berti, 30, chose the March 21 date for their wedding day because it is their daughter’s birthday, and also because it signified the start of spring.

Berti wore a silk dress by Ermanno Scervino and Bocelli wore a blue suit by Corneliani.

Guests joined the bride and groom for the reception at the tenor’s villa in Forte dei Marmi in Pisa, just north of Livorno.

Hours after the wedding the Time to Say Goodbye singer announced he would be going on tour in November.

The four-day tour, which was announced Tuesday, will see him perform songs from his latest album in arenas across the United Kingdom and Ireland. He will take to stages in Dublin, London, Liverpool and Birmingham.

Bocelli, who went blind at the age of 12, will be joined by two guests – a soprano and a pop star – who have not yet been revealed.
