‘Zen Pinball,’ ‘Doki-Doki Universe’ Coming to PlayStation 4

The latest game consoles have now been released in both the U.S. and Europe. Those who already have a PlayStation 4 or Xbox One however, will soon face the plight of all early adopters: a lack of software following launch titles. The gaming industry in general will be in a lull for the next few months as publishers market their already-released games for holiday purchases and third-party next-generation ports will be even rarer.

PlayStation 4 owners have it a little better than most, though, with Sony heavily supporting its new console with a steady stream of indie titles until the next big exclusive release (Infamous: Second Son in March). It seems as though Sony has lined up weekly releases for the PlayStation 4 for the foreseeable future. This week saw the release of co-op puzzle game Tiny Brains and the next two weeks of releases have now been detailed.

Doki-Doki Universe will be coming to PlayStation 4 (as well as PS3 and PS Vita) on December 10. The game is an offbeat exploration game filled with personality quizzes and customizable planets.

The week after that, on December 17, pinball fans will get what they need on PlayStation 4 with the release of Zen Pinball 2. The game is free-to-play with a basic “Sorcerers Lair” table and has plenty of purchasable tables. The table sets available on PS4 at launch will include “Star Wars Pinball,” “Star Wars Pinball: Balance of the Force,” “Epic Quest,” “Earth Defense,” “Paranormal,” “Marvel Pinball,” “Marvel Pinball: Avengers Chronicles,” “Marvel’s Doctor Strange,” and “Plants vs. Zombies Pinball.”

As a nod to fans, developer Zen Studios is allowing players who already own these tables on PlayStation 3 to download the PlayStation 4 versions for free. The studio also teased that new Star Wars and Marvel tablets will be coming next year, as well as other branded pinball tables.
