Whitney Bischoff and ‘Bachelor’ Chris Soules: Modern Day ‘Green Acres?’

Whitney Bischoff won’t be marrying The Bachelor, Chris Soules. The couple issued a statement late last week, confirming their split, just two months after he presented her with that illustrious rose on The Bachelor finale.

“Whitney Bischoff and Chris Soules have mutually and amicably decided to end their engagement,” they told Us Weekly in a joint statement. “They part with nothing but respect and admiration for one another and will continue to be supportive friends. They wish to thank everyone who has supported them through this journey.”

Prior to Chris and Whitney’s statement, fans learned of their split from the creator of The Bachelor, Mike Fleiss.

He shared the news via Twitter.

Everyone is dying to know what went wrong between Whitney Bischoff and Chris Soules. And while those outside the realm of reality TV can speculate about the way they met, the stress they were under in keeping up appearances for the show’s sake, and the bizarre notion of meeting that perfect someone that takes place on shows like The Bachelor, unless someone personally knows either Whitney Bischoff or Chris Soules, fans may never truly know what contributed to them breaking their engagement.

A couple of things that may have contributed to the demise of their relationship, however, involve that ever-popular cliche–location, location, location.

Chris Soules was in L.A. for a while, appearing as a contestant on Dancing With the Stars. It became quite clear then that he wasn’t a fan of the city. Whitney Bischoff is from Chicago, where she has a career as a fertility nurse. Rumors swirled while Chris was in L.A. that things weren’t going well for the couple, but ultimately she visited him on his farm for a week when he was eliminated from DWTS and sent home.

Might Whitney Bischoff have discovered at the same time Chris discovered his disdain for city life that farm life simply wasn’t for her? Does this remind you of the theme song from Green Acres?

“All this,” Chris noted of Hollywood fame and celebrity during an interview several weeks ago, “is not real life. L.A. isn’t real life for me. Arlington is and Chicago–that’s real life and we want to take that step and then we’ll make [wedding] plans.”

Whitney Bischoff recently thanked her fans, friends, and family members for their love and support. She returned to a warm welcome in Chicago following her split from Chris Soules.

“Now this little gal knows how to make me smile!” she captioned an Instagram post. “From the bottom of my heart, thank you for your outpouring love, kindness and support! It means so much to me!”

What do you think went wrong for these two? Do you suspect location, location, location played a big role in Whitney Bischoff and Chris Soules splitting up? Or do you think things just aren’t destined to work out for a couple who pursues romance the way these two did on The Bachelor?
