Today over at IGN they did a sit down preview with Borderlands 2. The sitdown features a 20 minute video with 2 of the 5 classes in the game, the Gunzerker, and the Siren. One of the coolest things about this play through was the introduction of the new UI for the game that includes a new trading system. This is going to make playing wihta friend and helping them power level so much easier.
Gunzerker
The Gunzerker is an interesting new character to the Borderlands Universe. It is reminiscent of the tank character from the last game, but instead of punching, your special ability is equipping 2 guns with regenerating ammo. He also has the ability to make all the enemies focus on him in an agitator/tank type of role with his taunt.
Siren
The Siren was in the last game but her special ability has changed. In the last game she could phase her body to become immune to damage and if she passed through enemies she would deal damage. Now her ability is something called a “Phase Lock” where she traps her enemies in a ball of energy for a short time.
When watching this i’m starting to think that teamwork is going to be way more important than in the past. Mix the Siren’s “Phase Lock” ability with the Gunzerkers ability and you have a juggernaut. I can’t wait to see when the other 3 characters are revealed. There also seems to be way more loot and weapons available, the colors also look waaay more vibrant!
Borderlands 2 is set to be released in the United States on September 18th for the Playstation 3, Xbox 360, and PC!
