Vergil Gets His Own DLC Campaign In DmC

DmC, no stranger to controversy, angered fans once again back in August when Vergil was revealed. Instead of the anime-inspired pretty boy that fans have to come to expect and idolize in fan art, Ninja Theory took the character into more of a realistic direction. He seemed more like a straight laced white collar criminal compared to the irrational JRPG villain archetype that embodied the old Vergil. Now Ninja Theory has revealed that they’re crafting an entire campaign centered around him.

Much like Devil May Cry 3: Special Edition, DmC will feature two campaigns. The main campaign will follow Dante through whatever kooky adventures Ninja Theory can cook up, but a second campaign featuring Vergil has just been revealed.

Compared to the nice guy we saw in the previous trailer, this Vergil definitely looks more vicious. It’s a nice change of pace for a character that many players complained was too far removed from the original incarnation. The gameplay itself still looks just as solid as Dante’s has so far proven to be.

As is the case with many of Capcom’s games as of late, Vergil’s campaign with be paid DLC. The campaign will cost $9, but it’s free to those who pre-order the game from GameStop or EB Games in North America. A pre-order will also net you the Samurai Weapons pack.

DmC will launch on January 15, 2013 on Xbox 360 and PS3. A PC version will be released shortly after.
