Twitter Users Learn Titanic Was Real

After the Paul McCartney sadness following his performance at The Grammys, I suppose this should not come as any surprise, but yet, here I am, shaking my head.

This time, instead of old members of The Beatles, the lastest “discovery” from the Twitter crowd is that the story of the Titanic does not come from James Cameron’s imagination. Yes, the tacked-on love story might be, but the rest pretty much happened. The ship did, in fact, exist, and it did, in fact, crash into an iceberg, causing it to sink. That, however, was news to quite a few Twitter users:

The image was posted on a few blogs like Laughing Squid, and it was created by Twitter user Keith Andrew. One of the Twitter users in the above picture, Antwan (@TheBestMFyet) has been taking a lot of grief for the “I never knew titanic actually happened” tweet. Unfortunately, the justification for her ignorance is actually worse than the ignorance itself:

These dumb ho’s only know the titanic was real because 1. Old as fuck 2. have no life 3. THE SHIP DEPORTED FROM YOUR FUCKING COUNTRY(image) 13 hours ago via web ·  Reply ·  Retweet ·  Favorite · powered by @socialditto

Just, wow. I really hope America is the only country where being ignorant and uninformed is something to take pride in. Antwan’s fun continues:

So my tweet about the titanic is on tumblr with 500 notes. IT’S NEVER THAT SERIOUS(image) 12 hours ago via web ·  Reply ·  Retweet ·  Favorite · powered by @socialditto

@shamxtrackspike DID YOU READ THE COMMENTS.EVERYBODY IS CALLING ME STUPID AND MORON’S AND TALKING ABOUT HISTORY CLASS AND SHIT(image) 12 hours ago via web ·  Reply ·  Retweet ·  Favorite · powered by @socialditto

@HannaTheEvil You went through alot to do this because this tweet doesn’t exist anymore so….*sigh*(image) 3 hours ago via web ·  Reply ·  Retweet ·  Favorite · powered by @socialditto

The struggle continues.

Too bad deleting the tweet doesn’t exactly remove it from existence, especially when folks like Keith Andrews are as diligent as they are.
