A huge storm system ripped through Texas on Tuesday afternoon, spawning tornadoes which did massive damage to Dallas and Fort Worth.
The area has been declared by the National Weather Service as under a “tornado emergency” as buildings were decimated and multiple reports of injuries began flooding in. No fatalities have been reported as yet. Funnel clouds were reported in as many as five counties, with the most recent at 3 p.m. in Collin County, which is north of Dallas.
The Denver Post has released photos of much of the damage caused by semi trucks and cars that were thrown across highways and truck stops.
CNN’s Ed Lavandera was in Dallas when the tornado struck and said that one twister was briefly on track to go through the area near the Dallas Cowboys and Texas Rangers stadiums, as well as Six Flags amusement park. The result of that, he said, would have been “catastrophic devastation“.
Thousands are still without power and hundreds were forced to stay in a shelter on Tuesday night as their homes were uninhabitable. Despite the amount of damage done, no fatalities were reported as of Tuesday.
