  • Michael Weatherly Leaving “NCIS,” but Staying on CBS in New Show About Dr. Phil

Michael Weatherly no doubt made many women cry when he and CBS announced back in January that he was vacating his role as Special Agent Anthony “Tony” DiNozzo on NCIS. How will they feel now, when they realize Michael Weatherly is leaving NCIS, but staying on CBS?

It’s true. Michael Weatherly has signed on to star in a new series called Bull, that portrays the early life of Dr. Phil McGraw before he was a famous television star.

According to the Hollywood Reporter, Michael Weatherly will play the role of Dr. Bull, “the head of a company that analyzes juries to help develop defense strategies. He has a physicality and feral intelligence that make him magnetic to women, and a bruising candor.”

Dr. Phil McGraw headed up a renown trial consulting service prior to his days of offering advice on his own TV show.

Michael Weatherly admitted he has enjoyed his run as NCIS’s Tony DiNozzo when he announced his impending departure in January.

“DiNozzo is a wonderful, quixotic character and I couldn’t have had more fun playing him over the past 13 seasons,” he said at the time.

Michael Weatherly played Special Agent Anthony DiNozzo for 13 seasons on NCIS. It was bad enough when actress Cote DePablo left her role as Ziva David.

What will NCIS be like without Anthony DiNozzo?

Did Michael Weatherly take into consideration the hearts he was breaking when he made his choice to leave?

And to think–he’s staying on at CBS.

Michael Weatherly deserves one of those good old slaps on the side of his head delivered by Mark Harmon’s character, Leroy Jethro Gibbs.

    Don’t you agree?

  • Michael Weatherly Joining New CBS Show About Dr. Phil Following “NCIS” Departure

Michael Weatherly has broken the hearts of many with the announcement that he’s leaving NCIS at the end of season 13. The actor who has played the role of Special Agent Anthony DiNozzo for almost 13 seasons isn’t leaving CBS, however. He has signed on with the network to star in a pilot about Dr. Phil McGraw.

Bull is based on the early days of Dr. Phil. According to the Hollywood Reporter, Michael Weatherly will play the role of Dr. Bull, “the head of a company that analyzes juries to help develop defense strategies. He has a physicality and feral intelligence that make him magnetic to women, and a bruising candor.”

Dr. Phil McGraw was the head of a renown trial consulting service prior to his days as a TV star.

Michael Weatherly and CBS announced in January that he was leaving NCIS.

“DiNozzo is a wonderful, quixotic character and I couldn’t have had more fun playing him over the past 13 seasons,” he said at the time.

It will be a bit of a consolation for Michael Weatherly fans to know he’s staying on CBS for this upcoming pilot. There’s nothing quite like Michael Weatherly as Tony DiNozzo, however.

    Do you agree?

  • Mark Harmon Signs On for Two More Seasons of “NCIS”

Mark Harmon, best known for his role as Leroy “Jethro” Gibbs on the hit CBS show NCIS, has signed on for two more seasons (15 and 16) of the show. CBS announced earlier this week it extended the show for two more seasons, with Mark Harmon signing a two-year deal of his own.

NCIS will undergo a huge change at the end of this season with the departure of Michael Weatherly. He has played the role of Special Agent Anthony DiNozzo since the show’s first season, back in 2003.

In addition to Mark Harmon and Michael Weatherly, NCIS stars Sean Murray, Pauley Perrette, David McCallum, and Rocky Carroll.

Are you an NCIS fan? Do you believe the show would survive if Mark Harmon hadn’t signed a new contract?

It will be difficult enough for fans to watch NCIS without Michael Weatherly’s character. A Mark Harmon departure would likely mean the end of the show.

  • Pauley Perrette: “NCIS” Star Has Second Scary Run-In With Homeless Man

Pauley Perrette, best known for her role as Abby Sciuto on the CBS hit show NCIS, had a second scary run-in with a homeless man in recent days. She was attacked by a homeless man for the first time back in November.

TMZ reports Pauley Perrette was in her car at the time of the more recent encounter. She was stopped in traffic when a homeless man approached her car. As she gave the man some money–he was asking for change–he grabbed her wrist and stuck his head inside her car, demanding to know the time.

“I rebuke you, Satan, in the name of Jesus Christ!” she said loudly.

She then told the man the time. It was 5:37 p.m., not far from the time she was assaulted back in November.

Pauley Perrette was assaulted outside of her Hollywood Hills home in November at around 5:00 in the afternoon. She fought her assailant, who eventually ran away.

The two experiences with homeless people haven’t hardened up the soft spot in Perrette’s heart.

“We need housing and help for the homeless. We need to support our cops. We need to not walk alone. I need to heal. I almost died tonight,” she said after the first attack.

Pauley Perrette is a devout Christian who attends church regularly–often with her dad. She believes strongly in the power of prayer.

What are the odds that someone would get accosted by a homeless person twice in less than three months? Fortunately for Pauley Perrette, she was left physically unscathed.

  • Pauley Perrette: “NICS’s” Abby Sciuto Has Frightening Encounter With Another Homeless Man

Pauley Perrette, the actress best known for her role as Abby Sciuto on the hit CBS show NCIS, had another frightening encounter with a homeless man in Hollywood recently.

It was just this past November that Perrette was attacked outside her home in the Hollywood Hills. She recently went to court to testify against her assailant.

The initial attack didn’t scare Pauley Perrette away from helping those in need, however. At the time of her first attack she spoke out about the plight of the homeless.

“We need housing and help for the homeless. We need to support our cops. We need to not walk alone. I need to heal. I almost died tonight,” she said following the first attack.

Media outlets are reporting Pauley Perrette “went the good Samaritan route” by not using the taser or knife she had inside her to protect herself. What many don’t know about the actress is she is a devout Christian who attends church most Sundays in her community. When she was assaulted the first time, she immediately called friends from her church for support and admitted to praying for her assailant.

What Pauley Perrette did by rebuking Satan was what Christians are taught to do on a daily basis. Believing that Satan inhabited this homeless man’s soul, she rebuked him rather than blaming the attack on the homeless man.

The media has created a skewed view of Christians, causing many to believe they are sweet-talking pacifists like the Duggar family from the 19 Kids and Counting reality show. Instead there are Christians of many personalities, occupations, and physical appearances–just like NCIS character Abby Sciuto–in the form of actor Pauley Perrette.

Fortunately Pauley Perrette emerged from this altercation unscathed. While she no doubt credits the power of prayer for saving her, she will hopefully use even more caution in the future.

  • Cote de Pablo: No Current Plans to Bring Her Back for Michael Weatherly’s NCIS Exit

NCIS fans learned some sad news last week – Michael Weatherly, one of the show’s most beloved actors, is leaving the show.

Of course, fans are now left to speculate how his character, Tony DiNozzo, will be written out.

Will his departure involve longtime partner Ziva, played by Cote de Pablo?

It’s not out of the realm of possibility, but according to CBS President Glenn Geller it’s not currently in the works.

“They are working on how Michael’s character is going to be written out,” Geller told reporters at Winter TCAs. “Gary [Glasberg] and the producers are working on that right now.”

He went on the say there are “not currently” any plans to bring back Cote de Pablo for Weatherly’s exit.

Weatherly will leave NCIS after its 13th season.

“DiNozzo is a wonderful, quixotic character & I couldn’t have had more fun playing him over the past 13 seasons,” Weatherly wrote on Twitter. “Les Moonves & CBS gave me the opportunity of a lifetime. I will miss the amazing crew & cast, who are like family to me, & to the fans all over the world – THANK YOU, it’s been a fantastic ride!”

“After 13 years on NCIS, Michael Weatherly is leaving the show at the end of this season,” CBS said in a January 5th statement. “He is a valued part of the CBS family, and the immense charm and talent he brings to the screen as ‘Very’ Special Agent Tony DiNozzo has helped make NCIS what it is today — the No. 1 drama in the world. “We thank Michael for all of his contributions to this successful franchise and look forward to continuing to develop projects with him as part of our ongoing development deal.”

  • Angie Harmon, Sasha Alexander Out of Work as TNT Axes “Rizzoli & Isles”

Angie Harmon and Sasha Alexander will soon find themselves out of work as TNT announced this week they are ending their crime drama, Rizzoli & Isles. The show’s seventh season will air this summer, and that will be its last.

Angie Harmon plays the role of homicide detective Jane Rizzoli alongside Sasha Alexander’s role as medical examiner Maura Isles.

TNT has recently undergone some management revamping. New boss Kevin Reilly reportedly prefers both edgier shows, as well as those that develop episode by episode. Rizzoli & Isles features individual stories that begin and ended in each episode.

“It had a good run,” Reilly said on Thursday. “It felt like it was time.”

Angie Harmon’s initial claim to fame came during her work as a fashion model. Her first big acting job was in Law & Order.

Sasha Alexander is a Dawson’s Creek alum, on which she played the role of Gretchen Witter. She starred for the first two seasons of NCIS as Special Agent Kate Todd.

Are you a Rizzoli & Isles fan? Are you disappointed to learn that Angie Harmon and Sasha Alexander have but one summer season left to star in these roles?

  • Michael Weatherly–Special Agent Anthony DiNozzo–Leaving “NCIS”

Michael Weatherly confirmed on Tuesday a rumor fans hoped against hope wasn’t true. The actor known for his role as Special Agent Anthony DiNozzo on CBS’s NCIS is leaving the show.

CBS issued a statement about Michael Weatherly’s impending departure.

“After 13 years on NCIS, Michael Weatherly is leaving the show at the end of this season,” the statement reads. “He is a valued part of the CBS family, and the immense charm and talent he brings to the screen as ‘Very’ Special Agent Tony DiNozzo has helped make NCIS what it is today–the No. 1 drama in the world.”

“We thank Michael for all of his contributions to this successful franchise,” the statement continues, “and look forward to continuing to develop projects with him as part of our ongoing development deal.”

Michael Weatherly responded to reports about his upcoming depature via Twitter.

It was Michael Weatherly’s costar, David McCallum (Ducky), who allegedly let the cat out of its proverbial bag about the actor’s end-of-season departure. During an interview with Vulture Hound magazine, he let word slip.

“DiNozzo, played by Michael Weatherly, we’ve told people a long time ago, is leaving at the end of the season. So the writers have to decide what to do when one of the four members of the original cast leaves,” he said.

In addition to Michael Weatherly and David McCallum, NCIS stars Mark Harmon, Pauley Perrette, and Sean Murray.

Weatherly’s departure will mark the second blow to fans’ hearts in two years. When Cote de Pablo, who played the role of Ziva David, left the show in 2013, viewers’ hearts ached for Tony DiNozzo.

Can NCIS continue without Special Agent Tony DiNozzo?

Are you shocked that Michael Weatherly is kissing this fabulous role goodbye?

  • Pauley Perrette of ‘NCIS’ Opens Up About Terrifying Attack By ‘Psychotic Homeless Man’

Pauley Perrette of NCIS has opened up about her terrifying assault by a “psychotic homeless man” in November.

“Physically I am fine,” Perrette told Entertainment Tonight‘s Kevin Frazier. “Emotionally that was a very traumatic event.”

The incident that took place on Nov. 13 left the 46-year-old actress physically and emotionally damaged. According to Perrett, who plays Abby on NCIS, she was punched repeatedly and had her life threatened by a “psychotic homeless man.”

After escaping from the attack, Perrette reportedly drew a sketch of the man she believed assaulted her and the Los Angeles Police Department was able to locate and charge a 45-year-old white male suspect named David Merck on felony battery charges. Merck remains in custody on $60,000 bail after being ordered to stand trial on the two felony counts. If convicted as charged, he faces up to four years in prison.

“I can’t believe I made it out of that,” Perrette said. “By the grace of God I did.”

Perrette said she was grateful that ET‘s Frazier was on the scene shortly after the alleged assault.

“Kevin is like my brother,” Perrette said of Frazier. “I know you were there as my friend.”

Perrette shared her experience during a visit to the ET set ahead of Tuesday night’s NCIS-NCIS: New Orleans crossover episode. In the episode, Abby must help her chef brother after he runs into trouble when passengers and crew on a private plane he catered are murdered.

NCIS airs Tuesdays at 8 p.m. ET/PT on CBS.

  • Michael Weatherly Is Leaving NCIS After This Season

On the smash hit drama NCIS, Michael Weatherly has played Special Agent Tony DiNozzo for 13 seasons.

Now, that’s officially coming to an end.

Weatherly will leave the show at the conclusion of this season.

“After 13 years on NCIS, Michael Weatherly is leaving the show at the end of this season,” CBS said in a statement.

Weatherly was arrested for DUI back in November.

  • Michael Weatherly : “NCIS’s” Tony DiNozzo Leaving Show at End of This Season

Michael Weatherly is no doubt breaking the hearts of countless fans. He is leaving NCIS–and character Special Agent Tony DiNozzo–at the end of this season.

Michael Weatherly is leaving NCIS of his own choosing. He responded to a report from TVLine via Twitter.

It was Michael Weatherly’s costar, David McCallum (Ducky), who let the cat out of the bag about the actor’s end-of-season departure. It was during an interview with Vulture Hound magazine that he let it slip.

Are you shocked to learn that Michael Weatherly is leaving NCIS? Can the show continue without Tony DiNozzo?

  • Pauley Perrette: “NCIS” Star Faces Alleged Attacker in Court

Pauley Perrette was attacked outside of her home in Hollywood last month. Her alleged attacker is a 45-year-old homeless man named David Merck. On Wednesday, the NCIS star–best known for her role as the quirky Abby Sciuto–faced her attacker in court in what was a very emotional moment.

Fighting back tears, Pauley Perrette gave her testimony on the stand. She refused to look at Merck, except when asked to identify him.

David Merck pleaded “not guilty to charges of making a threat and false imprisonment using violence,” and stared at Pauley Perrette throughout the proceedings.

Visibly upset following her testimony, Pauley Perrette was led out of the courtroom via a private exit.

“He told me he was going to kill me several times, and I absolutely believed him,” Perrette said after the alleged attack. “I prayed as hard as I’ve ever prayed for anything ever in my life, and I didn’t do anything. I thought, anything I do would escalate the situation–I couldn’t overcome him, he was stronger than me.”

“I took a pen, and I immediately, in shock, like, drew a picture of the guy, ’cause I didn’t have a camera,” she added. “The guy looks exactly like the thing that I drew.”

She wrote about the incident in a Twitter post.

Despite fearing for her life at the time of the alleged attack, Pauley Perrette spoke out empathetically about the plight of the homeless.

“[My heart] breaks for every single person that’s out there on the streets,” she said, “especially [those] with undiagnosed or untreated mental illness.”

“I’m glad I lived,” she said, adding of her alleged attacker, “I’m glad he didn’t kill me, but whatever, he doesn’t know who I am. He doesn’t know. He’s mentally ill and he has no support.”

If David Merck is convicted of attacking Pauley Perrette, he could spend up to four years in prison.

  • Michael Weatherly, “NCIS” Hunk Headed to the Slammer?

Michael Weatherly, the handsome hunk best known for his role as Special Agent Anthony DiNozzo on the hit CBS show NCIS, could be spending up to six months in the slammer. The actor was arrested for DUI in Hollywood earlier this month.

It was in the early morning hours that Michael Weatherly was stopped and arrested, and spent close to 15 hours in jail when officers determined his blood alcohol level was well above the legal limit.

Last week, the NCIS actor was charged with two counts of DUI from the incident. Michael Weatherly was allegedly speeding in addition to being drunk. Those charges come with a six-month sentence, as well as thousands of dollars in fine.

TMZ reports that jail time is highly unlikely, because this is the actor’s first offense.

Despite the danger of having driven drunk and the embarrassment facing Michael Weatherly, he might also be concerned with the impression he has now made on his 19-year-old son August, from his previous marriage to Amelia Heinle. It’s hard to preach “don’t drive drunk” to a 19-year-old when Dad spent 15 hours in the slammer, and could potentially serve six months more.

TMZ reached out to Michael Weatherly’s rep for comment on the drunk driving incident, but has thus far received no reply.

Are you a bit shocked to learn that the very handsome Anthony DiNozzo made such a dangerously stupid move? He needs a few good head slaps from Leroy Jethro Gibbs (Mark Harmon).

  • Pauley Perrette: “NCIS’s” Abby Sciuto Relies on Strong Christian Faith in Wake of Vicious Assault, Perpetrator Charged

Pauley Perrette, best known for her NCIS role as the lovable Abby Sciuto, has clung to her strong Christian faith in the wake of the violent assault that wounded her last week.

It was around 5 p.m. last Thursday when Pauley Perrette walked to her guest house to meet her architect when the attack took place.

The actress shares details of the assault via Twitter.

Despite her fears, Pauley Perrette went to church on Sunday as usual. She attends the Hollywood United Methodist Church near her home. A source there reported she was with two close friends.

The pastor brought up what happened to Perrette, in front of the entire congregation.

“Even though this man was punching her and threatening her life, Pauley prayed for her safety and for him,” he said. “One, she was able to pull the strings of God’s love for each of us…and was able to ask his name, then connect with him on a human level and say, ‘Your name is William?’ That’s my sweet nephew’s name too. When Pauley was telling her story to the media on Friday, first by proclaiming herself as a person of faith….Second, she proclaimed her forgiveness for the man who assaulted her. And third, she not only called attention to the critical need for mental health services in our country but especially here in Hollywood.”

The pastor also talked about the man who assaulted Pauley Perrette. David Merck, a homeless man, is in jail and has been charged with the crime.

“He’s now hopefully receiving treatment but he’s definitely in jail,” he said. “And we just wanted to say we are so glad that you (Perrette) are here and we love you very much.”

Church members applauded Pauley Perrette following the pastor’s words.

Fans might find it intriguing that quirky Abby Sciuto is a devout Christian. Many have incorrect perceptions of Christians–assuming they all behave like the Duggar family on the now-cancelled 19 Kids and Counting. That is definitely not the case.

How wonderful that Pauley Perrette has that strong faith the count on in the aftermath of this horrific experience, and how extraordinary it is that she found forgiveness for the man who committed this heinous crime.

  • Pauley Perrette: “NCIS’s” Abby Sciuto Attacked Outside Her Hollywood Hills Home

Pauley Perrette, best known for her role as Abby Sciuto on CBS’s long-running hit show NCIS, was attacked outside her home in Hollywood Hills, California on Thursday evening.

It was around 5 p.m. when Pauley Perrette walked to her guest house to meet her architect when the attack took place.

The actress shares details of the assault via Twitter.

Following Thursday’s attack, Pauley Perrette collapsed in the street out of shock. She remembers seeing a man walking his dog in the neighborhood, but he didn’t stop to offer help.

“I texted my friend next door and my church friend cop,” Pauley Perrette wrote. “I immediately drew a police sketch of the guy who was headed towards Hollywood Boulevard with murder in his eyes.”

“We need housing and help for the homeless. We need to support our cops. We need to not walk alone. I need to heal. I almost died tonight,” she added.

Pauley Perrette’s friend tracked down the suspect, David Merck, at a nearby convenience store. He was arrested on Friday morning.

Even though Pauley Perrette helps solve crimes on NCIS, she became the victim of one this week. Hopefully she seeks some counseling to help her through the shock and terror of being an assault victim.

  • Pauley Perrette: ‘NCIS’ Star in Part Responsible for Putting Ex-Husband in Jail

Pauley Perrette, best known for her role as Abby Sciuto on the hit CBS crime drama NCIS, is in part responsible for her ex-husband sitting in a jail cell as of this past Tuesday morning. A restraining order the actress filed against Francis Shivers was violated by the DJ, resulting in some jail time.

Shivers was convicted back in 2010 of sending threatening emails to Pauley Perrette’s attorney. The actress was granted the restraining order at that time. Francis Shivers violated the restraining order in February of 2013, and was sentenced to 90 days in jail. Since he was already on probation for an unrelated conviction at that time, an additional 180 days were added to his sentence.

It sounds like Pauley Perrette’s ex is going to get off easy–and early, too–in light of present overcrowding in California, however. He will serve no more than 36 days and could be out of jail as early as tomorrow.

    Shivers maintains his innocence.

Pauley Perrette hasn’t commented on the situation.

How would Pauley Perrette’s character Abby Sciuto deal with this situation? Would she run directly to Gibbs (played by Mark Harmon) and ask him to pull some strings to have her ex locked up for a longer period of time?

  • Pauley Perrette: Forensic Abby Bakes Biscuits

Pauley Perrette and some friends started a bake shop. While Pauley Perrette is best knows as forensic specialist Abby Sciuto on NCIS, in real life she started a bake shop to honor her mom. The shop is called Donna Bell’s Bakeshop.

Recently, Pauley Perrette released a cookbook featuring recipes they use in the bake shop. She and her partners have been touring the land, doing book signings. This morning, she dropped by CBS This Morning to talk about the book, among other things.

In the course of the interview, Pauley Perrette revealed that the book is not just a cookbook, but a biography of sorts. It talks about how she got her break in acting. She got $3000 to do a commercial in New York while eking out a living as a bartender.

From there, she did another 15 jobs for that director, which led to her career in L.A. Her character of Abby on NCIS — which has ben around for 12 years — inspires girls to go into math and science careers, a phenomenon known as The Abby Effect.

As for the book, the full title is Donna Bell’s Bake Shop: Recipes and Stories of Family, Friends, and Food. The story of the bake shop and the new cookbook is one of love and family.

Nestled in the heart of midtown New York is a little shop with a big story. An all-natural bake shop that specializes in Southern baked goods, Donna Bell’s is owned by Pauley Perrette, the actress who plays Abby Sciuto on CBS’s NCIS, and her two best friends, Darren Greenblatt and Matthew Sandusky. It was named in honor of Pauley’s late mother, who is the beloved inspiration for everything they bake.

With recipes for favorites like buttermilk biscuits, chocolate chip-almond scones, and peach streusel muffins; personal photographs from Pauley, Darren, Matthew, and Donna Bell herself; this is the story how one fantastic bake shop brings warmth and happiness—one treat at a time—to the urban jungle that is New York City.

One of the recipes from the book is for buttermilk biscuits. Enjoy.

    Ingredients
    Makes 12-14 biscuits

    3 cups all-purpose flour
    1 Tablespoon baking powder
    2 teaspoons baking soda
    2 teaspoons kosher salt
    4 teaspoons granulated sugar
1 1/4 cups (21/2 sticks) cold unsalted butter, cut into very small pieces
    1 1/2 cups buttermilk

    Directions
    Heat the oven to 400°F.

Line a rimmed baking sheet with parchment paper.

In a large bowl, combine the flour, baking powder, baking soda, salt and sugar.

Toss the cold butter pieces into the flour mixture and roughly mix with a spoon, making sure not to break up or soften the butter.

Pour 1 cup of the buttermilk into the flour and butter mixture and gently stir with a wooden spoon.

Stir in the remaining ½cup buttermilk until the dough comes together. Do not over mix.

With an ice cream scooper, scoop heaping mounds of the dough onto the prepared baking sheet, gently pressing down with scooper while releasing the dough onto the sheet. Bake for 7 minutes.

Turn the oven temperature down to 325°F and bake until the biscuits are golden brown, about 10 additional minutes. The melted butter in the pan will be absorbed by the biscuits as they cool.

Let cool on the pan for 5 minutes and serve hot.

  • Pauley Perrette Launches New Cookbook

    Pauley Perrette Launches New Cookbook

Pauley Perrette is so identified with her NCIS character of Abby Sciuto that it seems odd to think of her doing anything else. But Pauley Perrette is co-owner in a restaurant that features Souther cooking like her mother used to make.

Donna Bell’s Bake Shop in Manhattan was launched in honor of Pauley Perrette’s mother. And now she is taking that one step further with the release of a new cookbook.

The full title is Donna Bell’s Bake Shop: Recipes and Stories of Family, Friends, and Food. The story of the bake shop and the new cookbook is one of love and family.

“Nestled in the heart of midtown New York is a little shop with a big story.

“It all started in 1993, when Pauley met Darren in New York City’s Hell’s Kitchen, just blocks away from where the shop is currently located. The two became inseparable friends and Pauley’s Southern mom would welcome Darren to their home with mouthwatering treats. Darren loved this food and soon left his successful career in fashion to open a food truck that sold Southern desserts at the Jersey Shore. Eventually he wanted to expand and turned to Pauley and their friend Matthew—who worked in the Los Angeles food industry—for help. Soon Matthew was on his way to New York to open Donna Bell’s Bake Shop with Pauley and Darren.

“With recipes for favorites like buttermilk biscuits, chocolate chip-almond scones, and peach streusel muffins; personal photographs from Pauley, Darren, Matthew, and Donna Bell herself; this is the story how one fantastic bake shop brings warmth and happiness—one treat at a time—to the urban jungle that is New York City.”

Pauley Perrette and her partners will be doing book signings and promotions this month and into the summer.

  • Cote de Pablo: ‘NCIS’s’ Ziva David Makes TV Return in ‘The Dovekeepers’

Cote de Pablo–best known for her role as Ziva David on NCIS, played alongside Mark Harmon and Michael Weatherly–is making her TV return on Tuesday and Wednesday this week in a CBS four-hour miniseries called The Dovekeepers.

The project is based on an Alice Hoffman novel, and in addition to Cote de Pablo, stars Rachel Brosnahan, Sam Neill, and Kathryn Prescott. The story focuses on the women at the center of a group of Jewish refugees who make a brave stand against the Romans from the ancient mountaintop fortress of Masada.

The Dovekeepers is produced by Roma Downey and Mark Burnett, who produced The Bible in 2013.

Cote de Pablo visited Masada prior to playing this role.

“I had a chance to go to Masada a couple of years ago when I was first doing NCIS. You are on top of a mountain (where) on one end you’ve got the desert and on the other, the Dead Sea. It’s a remarkable story of survival, never giving up hope or faith and holding up to what you believe are important values, principles and dignity,” she explained.

Rachel Brosnahan, Kathryn Prescott, and Cote de Pablo play the roles of Yael, Aziza, and Shirah, respectively, and they are the women known as the dovekeepers.

“What these women do is ahead of its time, even for today. They live so connected to their hearts that they can’t possibly betray the thing they feel. … You have these women who have gone through the mill, who have given up everything they love to tell their story. (If) the Romans write it, they will inevitably be the heroes of their story. (Shirah) needs to tell this story of what really happened, the story of her people,” de Pablo says.

Call it coincidence or call it good planning on behalf of CBS, but just prior to The Dovekeepers premiere on Tuesday is the weekly airing of NCIS. And something fans are undoubtedly wondering is whether or not Cote de Pablo will ever reprise her role as Ziva David.

“I think it could absolutely be explored,” de Pablo says. “I felt (character Ziva’s departure) was a little rushed but, given how it all played out, I think it was beautiful. I had three beautiful scenes with Michael (Weatherly), who I love dearly. Any time I get the chance to be with him, there’s something kind of magical that happens. It’s been such a love story in many ways.”

And then she talked about the doves.

“We had very little time to prepare. It was sort of like, ‘OK, you have two hours to handle birds. And then in two hours, you’ll be in front of the camera with the birds.’ We had to learn really quickly. If you’re holding the birds with anxiety, they will be anxious. We would approach the birds in a more loving manner, like we’d been doing it forever. They just immediately let go and weren’t so fussy. They’re incredibly intuitive beings,” she said.

Fans of NCIS’s Ziva David can tune in to see Cote de Pablo in The Dovekeepers both Tuesday and Wednesday nights, March 31st and April 1st, on CBS at 9:00 PM ET.

Do you think Michael Weatherly, Mark Harmon, Pauley Perrette, and Sean Murray will watch?

  • Cote de Pablo Back on CBS, Jewish Again, But In a Very Different Role

Cote De Pablo is best known for her role as Ziva David, an Israeli Mossad officer turned NCIS agent, on the CBS hit series NCIS (the first one). But De Pablo left the show at the beginning of season 11.

Since leaving NCIS, Cote De Pablo has landed two roles. One is in a feature film called The 33, which is about the Chilean mining incident in 2010. She plays the wife of one of the miners. De Pablo was born in Santiago, Chile where she lived until she was 10. Her birth name is María José de Pablo Fernández.

But she is also working with Roma Downey’s production company on the upcoming faith-based mini-series The Dovekeepers. The mini-series is based on the novel by Alice Hoffman. It is about four women who lived during the roman siege of the Jewish Masada stronghold in the first century.

The mini–series follows the success of Downey’s The Bible ten-part series on History.

Downey recently told reporters recently at the Television Critics’ Association, “I think that we’re seeing the desire for [faith-based programs] is back. I think [The Bible‘s success] shows that people are interested in these themes and they are hungry for product that inspires.”

“I think [the mini-series] stays very true to the essence of the book,” Downey said. “There are many characters in the book and we have four hours…. We expand in some places and condense in others. I think that fans of this book will love it. They will see some differences, but I think everyone will be happy.”

Cote de Pablo joined Downey and her co-star, House of Cards actress Rachel Brosnahan, in a promo clip for The Dovekeepers as they were shooting it.

The mini-series airs March 31 and April 1 on CBS. It stars Cote de Pablo from NCIS, Rachel Brosnahan from House of Cards, Kathryn Prescott from Finding Carter, and Diego Boneta from Pretty Little Liars.
