WATCH: The Lego Movie Main Trailer

Two things come to mind when I think of Lego’s: childhood fun and the pain they can cause if you unknowingly step on one barefoot.

It hurts to even think about it. Well at least when The Lego Movie comes out we won’t have to worry about that, as all of the Lego’s are computer generated.

The Lego Movie stars the vocal talents of Chris Pratt, Will Ferrell, Elizabeth Banks, Will Arnett, Nick Offerman and Alison Brie, with Liam Neeson and Morgan Freeman.

Below is the films official synopsis:

The original 3D computer animated story follows Emmet, an ordinary, rules-following, perfectly average LEGO minifigure who is mistakenly identified as the most extraordinary person and the key to saving the world. He is drafted into a fellowship of strangers on an epic quest to stop an evil tyrant, a journey for which Emmet is hopelessly and hilariously underprepared.

The Lego Movie, the first-ever, full-length theatrical Lego adventure, directed by Phil Lord & Christopher Miller, opens in theaters February 7, 2014.

  • Xbox Sale Day 2: Kinect, Board Games, and LEGO

Yesterday, Xbox Live’s “Ultimate Game Sale” got off to a big start with hit AAA sequels such as Assassin’s Creed 3, Borderlands 2, Far Cry 3, and Max Payne 3 on sale for 63% to 75% off. Today the sale continues with several new titles taking the place of those games, though yesterday’s momentum seems to have slowed a bit.

Today’s sale titles are Lego Lord of the Rings, Lego Batman 2: DC Superheroes, Hasbro Family Game Night 3, Monopoly Streets, Kinect Sports 2, and Rockstar Table Tennis. The LEGO games are each 50% off, with Lord of the Rings selling for $15. Lego Batman 2, Family Game Night 3, Monopoly Streets, and Kinect Sports 2 are $10 each. Rockstar Table Tennis, which was released over seven years ago, is 80% off at $3.

Though the LEGO games are every bit as good as most of the “blockbuster” titles that come out each year, it’s clear that today’s sale titles are a bit of a step down from Tuesdays. Still, Xbox 360 gamers shouldn’t despair. According to the preview list Microsoft released last week, games such as Crysis 3, Gears of War: Judgment, Metal Gear Rising: Revengeance, Tomb Raider, X-COM: Enemy Unknown, and BioShock Infinite will all be on sale later this week.

  • LEGO Batman 2: DC Super Heroes Coming to Wii U

With the release of LEGO City Undercover just weeks away, Warner Bros. today announced that LEGO Batman 2: DC Super Heroes will be coming to the Wii U console.

LEGO Batman 2 builds on the classic LEGO Batman by allowing players to take on the role of other D.C. Comics super heroes, such as Green Lantern, Wonder Woman, and Superman. It was also the first LEGO game to feature voice acting for the characters, instead of using mime routines and movie references to get the story across.

The Wii U port of LEGO Batman 2 will be using the Wii U GamePad to display an interactive map of Gotham City, and players will also be able to select characters on the GamePad. Players can also play the entire game on the tablet controller alone, or with another player that can have the TV to themselves. That’s a nice feature for everyone who knows one of the most frustrating things about LEGO video games is sharing same screen with a partner.

Even if LEGO Batman 2 is nearly one year old, its release on the Wii U is good news for Nintendo, which has had trouble convincing customers to buy its new console with its existing lineup of games.

  • Lego Batman 2 Trailer Highlights the Voice Acting

The LEGO video games have never had fully voiced characters. Fans of the series have seen Obi Wan Kenobi, Indiana Jones, and Harry Potter mumble and overact in an attempt to humorously portray their respective movies’ stories. And it was enough and, quaint, to watch famous movie scenes deconstructed in LEGOs without dialogue. Now, though, the LEGO video games have gotten very popular, and it’s finally time for them to grow up and embrace a wider audience.

LEGO Batman 2: DC Super Heroes, will feature a fully voice-acted cast of heroes from the pages of DC comics. Players will get to hear Batman, Superman, Wonder Woman, Green Lantern, and other Justice League members talk and quip as LEGO “minifigures,” as Warner Bros. calls them. The heroes will be battling The Joker, Lex Luthor, and other DC villains who seek the destruction of Gotham City.

The newest trailer for the game highlights this significant change to the LEGO series by showing off the voice acting abilities of veteran voice actors such as Tara Strong, Steve Blum, John Di Maggio, Jennifer Hale, and Claudia Black. Check out the trailer for yourself below to hear The Joker quip about talking too much and see Superman play a practical joke on Batman:

A previous trailer has shown off the open-world gameplay that will also be a part of LEGO Batman 2. The game will be released in one week, on June 19 in the U.S., and on June 22 in the UK.
