  • George Zimmerman Retweets Photo of Trayvon Martin’s Body on Twitter, Why Isn’t He Banned?

George Zimmerman should be banned from Twitter. That’s a sentiment shared by many in recent days after the man who shot and killed 17-year-old Trayvon Martin three years ago in Florida, retweeted a photo of the teen’s body.

The photo of Trayvon Martin, lying dead on the ground where George Zimmerman shot him, was initially Tweeted to George Zimmerman over the weekend, with the caption, “Z-Man is a one man army.”

Twitter deleted the image, but not before it was viewed a wealth of times.

Following the deletion, George Zimmerman Tweeted out a phone number to a local car audio shop, telling the media to call the number for any inquiries into the deleted post.

It seems Zimmerman is engaged in some sort of social media war with the person at the car audio shop.

George Zimmerman is controversial and clearly racist. Earlier in September he Tweeted out this racial rant.

Even though George Zimmerman wasn’t found guilty by the jury when tried for the death of Trayvon Martin, many still believe he killed the boy in cold blood.

Why is it okay for someone like George Zimmerman to remain on Twitter when he posts this kind of racial garbage?

  • George Zimmerman Was NOT Shot in the Face Today

George Zimmerman was shot in the face today following a road rage altercation in Florida… At least that’s that you would be telling your friends if you did not stop to read beyond the headlines posted on Facebook.

Social media grabbed the George Zimmerman news with unmitigated glee today. Like a modern-day game of Telephone, the news that the man who many feel was wrongfully acquitted in the killing of Trayvon Martin seemed to have gotten a bit of comeuppance. News articles with headlines like “George Zimmerman Shot in Face in Lake Mary” were Shared repeatedly.

But by early evening today, clicking on these article links took you to pages with different headlines:

“Police: George Zimmerman shot at in road rage incident with man he knew”

The upshot of the story is that George Zimmerman and Matthew Apperson were involved in a road rage incident … again. Remember the guy that George Zimmerman (allegedly) yelled at: “Do you know who I am?! I will fucking kill you!”

That guy. It sounds like this time Matthew Apperson may have taken aim himself.

“His injuries would be considered minor,” George Zimmerman’s attorney Don West said. “The bullet missed his head. I think it broke a window and lodged in his vehicle.”

Yet, here is the headline that was run and spread on Facebook.

    Schaden….meet Freude.

And here are just a few of the comments the story engendered.

    Karma’s a bitch.

Proof positive that Trayvon Martin was a dangerous thug. [obvious sarcasm]

    Well its about time…

The justice system said Trayvon Martin was a thug but George Zimmerman has been arrested every year since the Trayvon Martin case and has a collection of mugshots so who’s the real “thug” ????

Would someone please lockup this NUTJOB once and for all? George Zimmerman is the WORST PERSON IN THE WORLD.

    Taste of his own medicine!

Probably another person from Florida standing their ground! Ha ha ha!

This is the one and only time I am going to support police shooting an unarmed man…

That’s what the hell he gets

  • George Zimmerman Attends Gun Show

George Zimmerman attended a gun expo in Florida over the weekend, where he spoke with supporters and told local reporters that he carries a gun in public due to the numerous death threats he still receives.

Zimmerman said that although he didn’t feel he would be threatened at the gun show, his own semi-automatic handgun was there just in case.

“It’s part of life. It’s unfortunately necessary right now,” he said.

Zimmerman, who was acquitted last July in the fatal shooting of teen Trayvon Martin, says he moves around a lot and attends events at which he’s been asked to be a guest speaker.

“I just try to be smart where I go,” he said.

Zimmerman didn’t comment on his most recent legal battle, which involves a road rage incident in which he allegedly told another driver he would shoot him.

The Trayvon Martin case polarized the nation and sent political groups into a frenzied debate over gun control laws; it also threw a spotlight on the controversial “stand your ground” law.

  • George Zimmerman Reportedly Threatens to Kill Again

“Do you know who I am?!”

This seemingly existential question has popped off the lips of far too many people who thought that their fame — or infamy — should precede them, preventing their needing to deal with lower life forms.

Less than a week ago, those words were reportedly uttered by Sarah Palin in the middle of a drunken brawl that ended with her son Track shirtless and flipping people off in the street.

And now, it’s said that America’s favorite chubby vigilante, George Zimmerman, is reportedly the latest to ask some poor hapless sod, “Do you know who I am?!”

A man in the Orlando, Florida area claims that George Zimmerman rolled up to his car on Tuesday and started screaming at him, angered that the man was pointing at him.

“Why are you pointing a finger at me?”, Zimmerman allegedly yelled at Matthew Apperson of Lake Mary, Florida. “Do you know who I am? I will kill you!”

“I looked over – George Zimmerman was the driver – and they were threatening to kick my ass and to shoot me,” Apperson reported. “I said, what are you going to do, shoot me? I’m not messing with you.”

The man drove to a gas station and called police. He said that Zimmerman followed him there “in an aggressive manner”, and threatened again to shoot him “dead”. By the time police arrived, Zimmerman was gone.

Apperson then saw Zimmerman in the same truck two days later, sitting outside his work. When police arrived, they this time confirmed that the man in the truck was, indeed, Zimmerman.

The man declined to press charges at that time. Zimmerman claimed he was just visiting a local doctor’s office.

  • George Zimmerman: One Year of Fans and Foes

It was one year ago that George Zimmerman was acquitted in the murder of Trayvon Martin. It was a case and a verdict that polarized a nation, perhaps more than any since the O.J. Simpson trial.

Recently, a Quora discussion asked the question: What one person’s death would have the greatest impact on the world today? Many responded with the names of presidents, world leaders, religious figures, celebrities. But, as one person pointed out, Trayvon Martin was a nobody outside of his own family and friends, but his death affected the nation profoundly.

And the name of the man that killed him still sparks emotional responses in a wide swathe of people. George Zimmerman’s life has never been the same since the trial. But he has a life.

After the trial, Zimmerman had loads of legal bills. He has tried to pay those down in a few different ways. Most recently, he tried suing NBC for their selective quoting of the 911 call from the fateful night he killed Martin. He alleged that NBC’s actions made him look like a racist in the eyes of the nation, and thus he accused them of defamation of character.

But a judge tossed out Zimmerman’s suit.

Before that, there was the infamous pay-per-view boxing match with DMX that never materialized. Word is that the match may be back on, but little has come of it so far.

His girlfriend accused him of threatening her with a gun, then dropped the charges.

Zimmerman has been seen as the “celebrity guest” at a gun show in Florida, signing autographs for folks who see him as a “stand your ground” hero of the Second Amendment. He was accompanied by the same girlfriend from above.

Zimmerman is still as polarizing a figure as ever. And people seem to be divided along political party lines in terms of for or against him.

  • George Zimmerman Lawsuit Tossed Out

    George Zimmerman Lawsuit Tossed Out

George Zimmerman, the man who pursued and fatally shot Trayvon Martin, has been trying to get a payday from NBC. Zimmerman sued NBC for the way the network edited the text of his 911 call the night he encountered Travon Martin.

Zimmerman alleged that NBC’s selective editing of the call made him look like a racist in the eyes of the nation, and thus he accused them of defamation of character.

But a judge has dismissed Zimmerman’s lawsuit, saying that Zimmerman could not prove that NBC’s actions were with any “malicious intent”.

The standard of “malicious intent” is a necessary hurdle in order to make a defamation of character accusation stick.

The lawsuit revolved around the portion of Zimmerman’s 911 call on that fateful night where, according to NBC’s original transcription and editing, Zimmerman was heard to say:

“This guy looks like he’s up to no good … He looks black.”

His words caused a public uproar, and the impression of him that he was a racist took root. But, upon more complete examination, the 911 call actually went like this:

Zimmerman: We’ve had some break-ins in my neighborhood and there’s a real suspicious guy. It’s Retreat View Circle. The best address I can give you is 111 Retreat View Circle. This guy looks like he’s up to no good or he’s on drugs or something. It’s raining and he’s just walking around looking about.

911 dispatcher: OK, is he White, Black, or Hispanic?

    Zimmerman: He looks black.

Seeing the entire exchange puts the statement in a very different light. And Zimmerman may indeed have a point that it defamed his character in that sense. But being able to prove that NBC acted with malicious intent is another thing altogether. This is particularly difficult since NBC issued a retraction and apology about the incident, saying:

A March 21 story about the Trayvon Martin shooting in Sanford, Fla., initially truncated a transcription of George Zimmerman’s conversation with a police dispatcher. The truncated quote made it seem that Zimmerman, acting as a neighborhood watch, brought up the race of the Miami teenager he was following in his neighborhood. Martin was later shot during a confrontation with Zimmerman. During the conversation, the police dispatcher asked Zimmerman specifically about the teen’s race and he answered.

The TODAY show broadcast truncated a portion of George Zimmerman’s conversation with a police dispatcher, and that truncated interview appeared on TODAY.com and msnbc.com. The video was removed from the site on March 30, as NBC News launched an internal investigation. On April 3, NBC News issued this statement: “During our investigation it became evident that there was an error made in the production process that we deeply regret. We will be taking the necessary steps to prevent this from happening in the future and apologize to our viewers.”

Zimmerman owes his attorneys $2.5 Million in fees for his criminal trial. Any damages he would have collected from the NBC lawsuit would have helped cover his outstanding bill.

Even without collecting money, perhaps Zimmerman hopes that the truth about his words that night will be seen by more people.

  • George Zimmerman Gets Shut Down By Florida Judge

George Zimmerman was on a mission to “punish” NBC for making him look bad. Unfortunately for the controversial public figure, a Florida judge was not having it.

Zimmerman filed a lawsuit against the network in 2012 over their coverage of his case, which included the 911 call he made.

According to his lawsuit, NBC’s “goal” was to “keep their viewers alarmed” at the case, believing that Zimmerman’s actions were racially motivated.

Zimmerman claimed that NBC “[menaced the viewers] with a reprehensible series of imaginary and exaggerated racist claims.”

In other words, the network’s sole goal in airing and editing Zimmerman was to show him as a racist murderer who killed Trayvon Martin because he was black.

In the clip aired by NBC, Zimmerman (who had been ordered to stay in his vehicle by the 911 dispatcher), answered a question by saying, “He looks up to no good. He looks black.”

The case would eventually be brought to a grinding halt by Judge Debra Nelson.

Nelson reminded Zimmerman that his notoriety as a public figure was ultimately his own doing, not that of NBC.

It was Zimmerman that “pursued a course of conduct that ultimately led to the death of Martin and the specific controversy surrounding it”.

In order for his case to continue, Zimmerman would have to prove that the network acted “with actual malice.” This legal standard means that NBC would have acted with the knowledge that what was shared about Zimmerman was false or the manner in which the material was shared was reckless.

Zimmerman’s downfall in the case is that the material used was genuine, and that the words spoken were his own.

Nothing in what was shared via the audio clip “resulted in a materially change in the meaning of what he actually said”.

Nelson said that the tape recording was “ambiguous at best”.

Without any further evidence of NBC’s intent as malicious, Zimmerman will just have to accept the fact that he is and will remain a notorious public figure.

  • Trayvon Martin: Friend Keeps Commitment to Late Teen

Trayvon Martin was killed by George Zimmerman back in 2012, and his good friend Rachel Jeantel spent the last moments of the teen’s life with him–on his cell phone–following the incident. On Friday Jeantel fulfilled a promise she made to Trayvon Martin before he died–she graduated from high school. Trayvon’s mother was there for the ceremony.

There’s more to simply having graduated from high school for Rachel Jeantel, however. A witness in the Travon Martin case, she drew criticism and even ridicule during her time on the witness stand. Rachel’s speech and demeanor at that time detracted from her testimony. Speaking a combination of Haitian Creole, Spanish, and English, court reporters and jurors alike often struggled to decipher what the teenager was saying. She had one particularly memorable exchange with George Zimmerman’s defense attorney Don West.

“Are you claiming in any way that you don’t understand English?” West asked Jeantel.

She paused and simply stared at the defense attorney.

“I don’t understand you. I do understand English,” Jeantel replied.

Jeantel was later forced to admit she had great difficulty reading and that she couldn’t read a letter that was written in cursive handwriting. Soon her mannerisms and her version of spoken English was mocked on social media.

“They called her everything except the child of God,” said Rod Vereen, a Miami defense and civil rights attorney. “Of course she was frustrated. It was like stepping into an arena, and you don’t know the rules.”

The civil rights attorney and Jeantel met prior to the Trayvon Martin murder trial when a member of her church asked him if he would represent her. He says he tried his best to prepare Rachel for the trial but he had no clue what the defense’s strategy would be. He understood the relationship between Trayvon and Rachel–a friendship that began in the first grade–was one that had been misrepresented. The two weren’t dating as many media outlets reported.

“He cared about you,” Jeantel said. “That’s a good human.”

When the trial was over Vereen knew he had to do something to help Rachel.

“Rachel was in need, and the whole world was watching,” he said.

Rod Vereen soon assembled a team of three tutors, a psychologist and other mentors to work with Jeantel. She was entering her senior year but was still only reading and doing math at an elementary-school level. For nine months Rachel received after-school tutoring three hours a day five to six days a week.

“When they say it takes a village to raise a child, this is what has happened here,” Vereen said. “Getting her down that aisle has not been an easy task. Rachel is just like any other teenager. They want to buck the system sometimes, and you just can’t let them buck the system.”

When she marched at graduation on Friday, Rachel Jeantel was a much different young woman than the one who appeared at her late friend’s murder trial.

“I did it,” Jeantel said. “The witness who didn’t know how to speak English knows how to speak English through the 12th grade now. I never quit.”

Sybrina Fulton–Trayvon Martin’s mom–watched her receive her diploma.

“Her coming is like having Trayvon there saying, ‘You did it. You proved people wrong,’” Rachel told reporters.

She also said her graduating “is just the beginning of my life.”

“When people see Rachel Jeantel now, I want them to say, ‘Wow, there was something good that came out of something so tragic,’” Rod Vereen added.

Trayvon Martin is no doubt looking down on his young friend with pride. Hopefully Rachel Jeantel goes on and does something wonderful with her life–something Trayvon Martin cannot do.

For now she is still working with tutors in her efforts to complete a pre-college curriculum. She has hopes of one day becoming a clothing designer. Do you suppose she might even use Trayvon’s name on her designs?

  • Rachel Jeantel Keeps Promise to Slain Friend

It was a special moment for Rachel Jeantel when she crossed the stage to receive her high school diploma — a moment to remember her slain friend, Trayvon Martin, and to celebrate an academic victory.

Jeantel was on the phone with Trayvon when he was shot to death in 2012. Since then, she has been determined to fulfill the promise she made to her friend to finish school.

Jeantel is known as the key witness in the very public trial of George Zimmerman — the man accused of shooting Trayvon, who was later acquitted.

During the trial, the daughter of immigrant parents had difficulties with her English. The teen speaks Haitian Creole, English and Spanish, and her dialect and use of Creole slang were made fun of during her testimony.

At one point during the trial, defense attorney Don West questioned whether Jeantel understood English.

“Are you claiming in any way that you don’t understand English?” West asked Jeantel.

“I don’t understand you. I do understand English,” Jeantel said.

Finishing high school was a challenge for the young woman.

As a senior in high school, it was determined Jeantel only had an elementary-level understanding of reading and math. Miami defense and civil rights attorney Rod Vereen arranged for tutors and psychologists for the young woman to help her graduate.

“When they say it takes a village to raise a child, this is what has happened here,” said Vereen.

“Getting her down that aisle has not been an easy task,” he continued. “Rachel is just like any other teenager. They want to buck the system sometimes, and you just can’t let them buck the system.”

“I did it,” Jeantel exclaimed after the graduation. “The witness who didn’t know how to speak English knows how to speak English through the 12th grade now. I never quit.”

Martin’s mother, Sybrina Fulton, attended the graduation ceremony to cheer on her son’s friend.

“Her coming is like having Trayvon there saying, ‘You did it. You proved people wrong,’ ” Jeantel said.

  • Rachel Jeantel Graduates High School

    Rachel Jeantel Graduates High School

Rachel Jeantel may be best known for her testimony at the trial of George Zimmerman, but Friday she was known as something else: a high school graduate.

The graduation not only included Jeantel’s family, but Trayvon Martin’s mother as well. In an interview with Yahoo News, Jeantel explained that “her coming is like having Trayvon there saying, ‘You did it. You proved people wrong.’”

The trial was traumatic for Jeantel. Civil rights attorney Rod Vereen said “They called her everything except the child of God. Of course she was frustrated. It was like stepping into an arena, and you don’t know the rules.”

But in the words of Jeantel: “I did it. The witness who didn’t know how to speak English knows how to speak English through the 12th grade now. I never quit.” Excited about her future, Jeantel took to Twitter to express her happiness:

Jeantel will be moving onto big things after high school. Last year, radio host Tom Joyner offered her tutoring and a full ride to the historic black college or university of her choice. “We talked to her people today and it’s going to take some work, first of all to get her a high school diploma, and get her ready for the SAT test, and then entered into college. But we are going to do that,” he said. “She deserves a chance.”

George Zimmerman’s trial last year was well documented by the media, including Jeantel’s testimony. Some in media called her “dumb”. Some on Twitter responded back by calling her brave. “You got to understand, you the last person to talk to the person and he died on the phone after you talked to him — you got to understand what I’m trying to tell you,” she said during her testimony. “I’m the last person, you don’t know how it felt. You think I really want to go see the body after I just talked to him?”

  • Roseanne Barr Being Sued For $750,000 Over Tweet

Roseanne Barr is known for her offensive and sarcastic humor, but it looks like she has gone too far, and it may cost her a pretty penny.

According to federal court documents, George Zimmerman’s parents are suing Barr for $750,000 after she reportedly posted their address on Twitter on March 29, 2012.

Robert and Gladys Zimmerman are seeking $600,000 for personal and emotional harm, and $37,400 for the money they have had to spend on staying in hotels, after they were forced from their home and into hiding. George is the neighborhood watch volunteer that was acquitted last year for murdering Trayvon Martin.

Barr admitted to putting the address of their Lake Mary home in one of her tweets, however she said she immediately took it back down. The lawsuit was filed in March and Barr’s lawyers believe that the Zimmermans should not receive any compensation.

In other news, Roseanne has decided to head back to television! In November, Roseanne tweeted that she would never work in television again. However, she must have had a change of heart because she will be one of the judges on the Last Comic Standing that premiered on Thursday.

“I like judging people,” Barr told PEOPLE. “I really like it and thought this would give me the opportunity to tell somebody the truth about something they do. They probably won’t listen, but if they do they’ll be doing themselves a big favor.”

While she has taken a break from performing or even watching stand up comedy, Barr admits that the show is making her want to do it again. “I’m starting to want to do it again,” she said. “But I really don’t know if people will want to hear anything I’d have to say. I don’t think they could handle it for a second. Once I start going nobody can handle it.”

Last Comic Standing airs on Thursdays at 9:00 pm on NBC.

  • Trayvon Martin’s Death Encourages “Stand Your Ground” Protest

Florida’s “Stand Your Ground” law is facing more protests and backlash than ever as the two year anniversary of Trayvon Martin’s death passes. Trayvon’s mother, Sybrina Fulton, recently spoke with CBS about her views on this controversial law.

“We don’t have to have a law in place that says, ‘I need to shoot and kill someone and then ask questions later’… [we’re] going to make positive change to make sure that ‘stand your ground’ doesn’t continue to happen,” she says in the interview. The “Stand Your Ground” law allows citizens the right to use deadly force to defend themselves without any other requirement. Trayvon was unarmed when shot by George Zimmerman in February 2012.

Despite the protest, Florida lawmakers are ready to expand on the law, not repeal it. Two bills are currently in consideration that would let citizens who are in fear of their life to fire a “warning shot” first. Bill sponsors, however, don’t see it as an extension of the law, but instead as a “clarification.” CBS claims that it’s likely that Rick Scott, Florida’s governor, will sign the bill into law.

Lucia McBath, another Florida mother who lost a son to a gunmen claiming self defense, says inclusion of warning shots in the law is “heinous.” “More lives are at risk, more people will shoot their guns and claim, ‘Well, it was just a warning shot’,” she says.

Trayvon’s mother Sybrina has also been active nationwide against gun violence, recently speaking out about profiling against children. “If it happened to Trayvon, it can happen to other kids as well. We have work to do we have to stay busy, vigilant on trying to solve this issue,” she spoke at a Milwaulke Technical College in a keynote address.

What do you think of Florida’s law? Do you agree with “Stand Your Ground?” Respond and let us know!

  • Roseanne Barr Sued By George Zimmerman’s Parents

Roseanne Barr has made a career out of speaking her mind, but it usually comes with a joke. However, after the shooting death of 17-year old Trayvon Martin, Barr took to Twitter regarding shooter George Zimmerman in 2012, calling for his arrest. She also posted the home address of Zimmerman’s parents to her nearly 110,000 followers. Now, the Zimmermans are suing Barr and say they were forced to leave their home after she tweeted their address and that she acted “extremely and outrageously in making the tweets which were intended to cause severe emotional distress to Robert and Gladys Zimmerman and great physical harm, if not death.”

Barr allegedly posted to her Twitter account, “At first I thought it was good to let ppl know that no one can hide anymore,” and “If Zimmerman isn’t arrested I’ll rt his address again- maybe go 2 his house myself.” The Zimmermans say they still haven’t been able to return to their home out of fear for their safety.

The family is asking for damages in the amount of $15,000 for emotional distress and invasion of privacy.

“Roseanne Barr knew at the time of her tweets and her threat to personally come to the Zimmerman’s home that it was an open and obvious call for vigilante justice and were intended by Roseanne Barr to cause a lynch mob to descend on Robert Zimmerman and Gladys Zimmerman’s house,” the complaint reads.

Barr hasn’t commented on the lawsuit but has retweeted several posts on Twitter about Zimmerman and the case.

  • George Zimmerman’s Parents Sue Roseanne Barr for Endangering Their Lives

Robert Zimmerman Sr. and Gladys Zimmerman, the parents of George Zimmerman, have filed a lawsuit against Roseanne Barr for posting the address to their home on Twitter in 2012. Barr posted the address after it appeared that Zimmerman wasn’t going to be arrested in the slaying of Trayvon Martin and wanted to let people know where Zimmerman was staying. While the lawsuit doesn’t list the specific amount the Zimmermans are suing for, it does say they are suing for damages “in excess of $15,000.”

After the news of Zimmerman killing the unarmed teenager without being arrested made national headlines, many people, including celebrities, used social media outlets to express their outrage over the situation. Some celebrities took things too far by posting personal information, which some believe was an effort to incite vigilante justice. Spike Lee was one celebrity who retweeted an address he thought belonged to George Zimmerman, when the address belonged to Zimmerman’s neighbors. The tweet caused the neighbors to be harassed and forced them to flee their home. Lee later apologized on Twitter and offered to compensate the neighbors.

While the tweet certainly left Lee with egg on his face, apparently the incident did little to teach others, namely Roseanne Barr, to refrain from making similar posts. Just a month after the killing on March 29, 2012, Barr retweeted the address and phone number belonging to Zimmerman’s parents, as she believed he was staying there. Barr said that she thought “it was good to let ppl know that no one can hide anymore.” Barr also tweeted, “If Zimmerman isn’t arrested I’ll rt his address again- maybe go 2 his house myself.” After being criticized for posting the information, Barr deleted the tweet and said that she didn’t realize her post was public.

Now, almost two years later, the elder Zimmermans have decided to bring a lawsuit against Barr for the threats and other inconveniences they faced as a result of her actions. The Zimmermans say they were forced to leave their home and go into hiding “as a direct result of the Roseanne Barr tweets.” The Zimmermans also say that they haven’t been able to live in their home since the tweets.

“Roseanne Barr knew at the time of her tweets and her threat to personally come to the Zimmerman’s home that it was an open and obvious call for vigilante justice and were intended by Roseanne Barr to cause a lynch mob to descend on Robert Zimmerman and Gladys Zimmerman’s house,” the complaint states.

The Zimmermans haven’t specified an amount they are suing for, but believe they should be compensated because they “suffered emotional pain and suffering, mental anguish, loss of capacity for the enjoyment of life, incurred additional living expenses due to an inability to live in their home and have suffered a loss in value of their home.”

Interestingly enough, the Zimmermans claimed in another interview that they moved out of the house before Barr tweeted the personal information. According to Orlando Sentinel, the Zimmermans said they moved out of their house due to death threats made to them because of George Zimmerman’s actions during a March 15, 2012 interview, nearly two weeks before the Barr tweets.

  • George Zimmerman Signs Autographs At Gun Show

A simple Google search of Zimmerman and it seems like no action of his ever goes unreported. Recent headlines include an announced but later cancelled boxing match with rapper DMX to assaulting his pregnant girlfriend.

In case you’ve forgotten, George Zimmerman is the 31-year-old American originally known for fatally shooting Trayvon Martin on February 26th, 2012 in Sanford, Florida. Once on trial, the prosecution argued that Zimmerman should be tried for second degree murder and manslaughter; the jury later acquitted him of all charges.

Georgie boy spent his Saturday at the New Orlando Gun Show taking pictures and signing autographs with customers and fans. New York Daily News reported that over the course of six hours, 20 people lined up to see Zimmerman in the rear office of The Arms Room gun store.

Originally, the gun show was supposed to be held at the Majestic on John Young Parkway, but organizers had to cancel the venue late Thursday after negative reactions to Zimmerman’s planned appearance, WESH reported.

“They told us they canceled for community pressure,” said organizer and dealer Mike Piwowarski.

“They were getting phone calls and backlash, and didn’t want that kind of person there.”

Angry at Majestic for cancelling the event, Piwowarski plans to sue for an estimated $300,000 in lost gun sales.

Piwowarski supported Zimmerman during and after the trial in the shooting death of Martin. Returning the favor, Zimmerman showed up and supported Piwowarski’s gun business.

Fox 35 asked Zimmerman if he thought that his appearance at the gun show could be viewed as antagonistic.

“I don’t worry about people that say it’s antagonistic,” he said. “To be honest with you, like I said, the importance was to support the people that supported me.”

“I’m willing to talk to everyone and try and answer their concerns or questions, and [have] them realize there’s no need to be angry.”

Zimmerman said that due to death threats, he still wears a bulletproof vest and that he suffers from post-traumatic stress disorder and is given mental health treatment.

  • George Zimmerman Sits Down In First TV Interview

George Zimmerman, the Florida man who was found innocent of murdering 17 year old Trayvon Martin, sat down with CNN’s Chris Cuomo on Monday, on the network’s morning show New Day, and he discussed a slew of topics, including his life after the trial and what his future plans will be.

Although Zimmerman initially believed that his life would go back to normal after the trial ended, he said that hasn’t been the case and he fears for his life all the time.

“I have a lot of people saying that, you know, they guarantee that they’re going to kill me and I’ll never be a free man,” he said.

The 30 year old also said that he doesn’t feel guilty about what happened, because if he didn’t shoot Martin, he would have been dead. “In my mind between God and me…I know that if I did not act the way I acted, I would not be here,” he said in a separate interview with Univision.

“When you hit your head repeatedly against the concrete, you have a broken nose, eyes full of blood and tears, you’re not in the position to do much.”

It’s safe to assume that many people thought that Zimmerman would do whatever it took to stay out of the media since being acquitted, but that hasn’t been the case at all, because just within the last few months, he’s had two run-ins with the police, involving his ex-wife Shelly Zimmerman and his current girlfriend.

But the former neighborhood watchmen said despite all of that, he still wants to lead a life that’s low-key. “Honestly, I [would] love to live a calm life without being in the press,” he admitted. “I’d like to be [viewed as] any American citizen, to [get] a ticket for going at high speed or having an argument with his wife, if the police come and not have everyone aware. But that, as I said, that’s my life and I do not understand why that is. But I’m living my life as I have always lived.”

  • Jamie Foxx Marks 2 Years Since Trayvon Martin Death

Actor Jamie Foxx joined hundreds of demonstrators this weekend in Miami Gardens, Florida, for a rally commemorating the two year anniversary of 17-year-old Trayvon Martin’s death. Martin was gunned down and killed by then neighborhood watch captain George Zimmerman. Martin’s parents led the rally on Saturday, calling for peace.

Jamie Foxx challenged young people everywhere to be among the solutions needed for black crime problems.

“The blood that flows through America that is from gun violence is mostly African-American, and yet you young black folk sit here mute and ya’ll don’t say nothing about it,” Foxx said.

Trayvon Martin would have turned 19 this past week. George Zimmerman was found not guilty in his death.

Prior to the rally, Jamie Foxx posted an Instagram photo he took of himself, along with a message about the impending rally.

His accompanying message said, “To ALL of my people in the #Miami area, come join us tomorrow, February 8 at 9 a.m. in a march for peace for our children. Race, gender, age, religion, it doesn’t matter, just come out! It’s not about color, it’s not about race, but about peace for our children. God Bless! #IAmTrayvonMartin – ADDRESS: 3201 NW 185th Street Miami Gardens, FL 33056 #SUPPORT”

In addition, Jamie Foxx retweeted a post one of his followers shared the day before the Trayvon Martin rally.

In addition to marching with the demonstrators Jamie Foxx spoke at a Trayvon Martin remembrance dinner as well. He has been outspoken about the young man’s death, saying it will always be fresh in his mind. Hopefully it will long be fresh in everyone’s mind. Trayvon Martin’s death leaves many people all across the United States with a bevy of unanswered questions. Unfortunately they won’t ever be answered. In the meantime rallies like the one Trayvon’s parents spearheaded and activists like Jamie Foxx can hopefully help prevent more such incidents from taking place.

  • DMX Will Fight George Zimmerman In An Epic Celebrity Boxing Match

As if things couldn’t get any stranger in the world, rapper DMX is set to have a boxing match with George Zimmerman. The two of them will have a bout in the ring, while being officiated by Floyd Mayweather Sr.

DMX has been known for his aggression throughout his career, and he has also been arrested for several other things, beefing up his tough guy image that should work well for when he fights George Zimmerman.

Zimmerman, of course, is known to people around the United States for his murder of Trayvon Martin, a young African American teenager. The event took took place in Florida on February 26th, 2012, and Martin would have been 19 this month.

He stood trial for murder, but to the horror of most people around the country, he was acquitted. The incident and the trial brought up issues of race, and a large number of people were outraged after it happened. There are plenty of people that would like the opportunity to throw some punches at Zimmerman, but DMX was chosen out of over 15,000 applicants.

Someone like DMX would certainly show how tough he is once he enters the ring with someone like George Zimmerman, and on Wednesday his spokesman Domenick Nati said “DMX has promised to ‘beat his ass,’ but no contract or paperwork has been signed or agreed to yet.”

Since the incident with Trayvon Martin, George Zimmerman has continued to find himself back in the spotlight, and this time he will be doing so in the form of a boxing match with DMX. His musical career has had its ups and downs, and he is known for hit songs such as “Party Up In Here” and “Ruff Ryders Anthem.”

The idea was originally brought up by Damon Feldman, the owner of Celebrity Boxing. He has become known for setting up odd match-ups in the ring, and he said last week that he was accepting offers for someone to step into the ring for a three-round, pay-per-view fight with Zimmerman.

Feldman received over 15,000 requests in the form of email, and decided to go with DMX as the best opponent for Zimmerman. While it is being billed as a spectacle for the two contenders, many people also feel that it is a dangerous event to hold, due to the precedents that it could set.

Al Sharpton commented on the situation when saying “We must be very careful not to glorify or in any way sidestep the implications of making someone whose only claim to fame was killing an unarmed young man named Trayvon Martin into a cultural celebrity or hero.”

Others have also weighed in and started a petition on Change.org, a website that has been used for a variety of events and issues. The petition states that “This is a blatant show of disrespect and nothing positive or righteous would come from such a stunt.”

After gaining attention as a neighborhood watch volunteer, George Zimmerman will have a boxing match with one of America’s most aggressive and dangerous rappers. Is this a good idea?

In order to find out when and where the event will take place, stay tuned until next week. However, Damon Feldman said that he may be shooting for a date of March 15th.

  • George Zimmerman, DMX Will Reportedly Box Each Other

George Zimmerman, who was acquitted of the murder of 17-year old Trayvon Martin last year, has been in the headlines quite a bit in recent months–most notably for his arrest following a domestic dispute with his girlfriend–but the latest news is going viral.

Zimmerman will reportedly fight rapper DMX in a celebrity boxing match later this year, and DMX is ecstatic about the opportunity.

“I am going to beat the living fuck out him,” he told TMZ. “I am breaking every rule in boxing to make sure I fuck him right up. Once I am done with him, I am going to whip my dick out and piss on him, right in his motherfucking face.”

Although DMX says he wants to do it for “every black person who has been done wrong in the system”, Zimmerman’s promoter says they don’t want the match to be about race.

“We’re not looking at it as a race thing … We haven’t discussed purple, yellow, white, black,” Damon Feldman said.

The fight will last for 3 rounds and will take place on March 1, but it won’t be officially announced until next week. Zimmerman says he plans to donate any winnings to charity.

Zimmerman was arrested last November after his girlfriend, Samantha Scheibe, called 911 and said that he was threatening her with a gun during an argument and had broken her belongings. He was taken into custody, but Scheibe later requested that the felony domestic violence charges be dropped, saying that police had misunderstood what she said.

“I want to be with George,” Scheibe said in a sworn statement. “I do not want George Zimmerman charged. I make this decision freely, knowingly and voluntarily, without any intimidation coercion or undue influences. I believe that the police misinterpreted me and that I may have misspoken about certain facts in my statement to the police… George never pointed a gun at or toward my face in a threatening manner,” she says. “Further, I request that the Seminole County State Attorney’s Office not be allowed to harass me because I do not wish to take part in any prosecution of this case on behalf of the State.”

  • The Game May Face George Zimmerman in Boxing Match

Since George Zimmerman was acquitted of first degree murder for shooting 17-year old Trayvon Martin in Florida a while back, he’s mostly been in hiding, because he’s received numerous threats from people who weren’t happy about the decision.

However, it seems he just may come out of hiding soon, and be in a celebrity boxing match, but that’s only if The Game gets his way.

The Compton rapper recently went on the celebrity gossip show, TMZ Live, to issue a boxing challenge to Zimmerman, and he says wanting to fight him has nothing to do with seeking personal justice.

“Anybody who had the opportunity and if you could do it, and if it was legal and there was no repercussion for knocking Zimmerman out, why not?” said Game.

“It’s not really about [the murder case] for me, because again, the Trayvon Martin case was sad enough, but justice needs to be served to his mother, his father and his family. I just think how Zimmerman is playing it and being a media-whore and looking for all this attention, that he shouldn’t be getting for these things, so if there’s a chance to box him I want in.”

In addition, Game says he would have no problem knocking Zimmerman out, which may be true considering the rapper stands at 6’5″ 240 pounds.

Damon Feldman, who’s a well-known celebrity boxing promoter, says the fight could actually happen, because Game has already sent him an email and made his request official. Feldman also spoke to Zimmerman and said that’s he’s willing to fight as well.

Reportedly, Zimmerman has been having some serious money issues since his acquittal and he’s been doing whatever he can to get out of deep debt, including selling a picture he painted for $100,000, so it’s likely that he would fight The Game if the price was right.

But will the match really happen? Time will tell, but it’s safe to assume that a lot of people would pay a high amount to see the two go toe-to-toe. I know I would.

  • George Zimmerman: Accused Of Plagiarism By The AP

A couple of days ago, I asked a simple question of George Zimmerman’s latest artwork: Why on Earth was it, like the $100,000 artwork sold before it, based on a copyrighted image? Did Zimmerman honestly think that no one was going to notice? It only took me all of five seconds to find the original AP image when I wrote the article.

One has to wonder what Zimmerman was thinking. The Associated Press would certainly be made aware of anything Zimmerman does, as he remains big news. There’s no way someone in his position could hide the fact that he used an AP photo to try and make thousands of dollars.

Predictably, it didn’t take the AP long to find out what he had done and to send a firmly worded letter to Zimmerman’s attorney, Jayne Weintraub.

“George Zimmerman clearly directly copied an AP photo to create his painting of Florida State Attorney Angela Corey.”

The AP Photo, as noted in my previous article, was taken by freelance photographer Rick Wilson. Congrats Wilson, it’s looking like Zimmerman will not be fleecing you after all!

This drama is far from over, as Zimmerman is now threatening to sue the Associated Press for daring to stomp on his newly found artistic freedom.

He lashed out via Twitter with the following remark:

I’m sure the AP is shaking in their boots at that.

In all seriousness, Zimmerman might want to think twice before tangling with the AP, as this is not their first time taking on an artist for copyright infringement.

Artist Shepard Fairey found himself at the center of legal troubles in 2009 over the far more famous and valuable Obama images that gained international attention and familiarity during his first campaign. The matter would be settled out of court in 2011 for roughly $1.6 million. This in addition to a fine and community service.

This should be an interesting case where “fair use” is concerned, and could prove to be a landmark decision should the matter go to court.

Again I say to Zimmerman: Stick figures. Draw stick figures. Someone will buy your art and you won’t find yourself sued into a hole in the ground.

UPDATE: Apparently Jayne Weintraub no longer represents George Zimmerman, and has responded that she had forwarded the AP’s cease-and-desist letter to her former client.
