Roseanne Barr has made a career out of speaking her mind, but it usually comes with a joke. However, after the shooting death of 17-year old Trayvon Martin, Barr took to Twitter regarding shooter George Zimmerman in 2012, calling for his arrest. She also posted the home address of Zimmerman’s parents to her nearly 110,000 followers. Now, the Zimmermans are suing Barr and say they were forced to leave their home after she tweeted their address and that she acted “extremely and outrageously in making the tweets which were intended to cause severe emotional distress to Robert and Gladys Zimmerman and great physical harm, if not death.”

Barr allegedly posted to her Twitter account, “At first I thought it was good to let ppl know that no one can hide anymore,” and “If Zimmerman isn’t arrested I’ll rt his address again- maybe go 2 his house myself.” The Zimmermans say they still haven’t been able to return to their home out of fear for their safety.

The family is asking for damages in the amount of $15,000 for emotional distress and invasion of privacy.

“Roseanne Barr knew at the time of her tweets and her threat to personally come to the Zimmerman’s home that it was an open and obvious call for vigilante justice and were intended by Roseanne Barr to cause a lynch mob to descend on Robert Zimmerman and Gladys Zimmerman’s house,” the complaint reads.

Barr hasn’t commented on the lawsuit but has retweeted several posts on Twitter about Zimmerman and the case.
