  • Microsoft Exchange Vulnerability Being Actively Exploited

Microsoft Exchange Vulnerability Being Actively Exploited

Cybersecurity firm Volexity is warning that a serious security vulnerability in Microsoft Exchange is being actively exploited by bad actors.

The vulnerability in question was addressed as part of Patch Tuesday on February 11, 2020. The cumulative update and service pack “addressed a remote code execution vulnerability found in Microsoft Exchange 2010, 2013, 2016, and 2019. The vulnerability was discovered by an anonymous security researcher and reported to Microsoft by way of Trend Micro’s Zero Day Initiative. Two weeks after the security updates were released, the Zero Day Initiative published a blog post providing more details on the vulnerability.”

Since the Zero Day Initiative published its post, Volexity has witnessed advanced persistent threat (APT) actors exploiting this vulnerability in the wild. In an interview with Forbes’ Zack Doffman, Volexity said that “all the cases we’ve seen so far have been based out of China—multiple different Chinese-based APTs.”

Volexity concluded by saying that “the latest Microsoft Exchange ECP vulnerability has provided attackers with another opportunity to break into organizations where they may previously have been unsuccessful. Staying current with patches is the best defense for an organization. Fortunately, this vulnerability does require a compromised credential to exploit and, as a result, will stave off widespread automated exploitation such as those that often deploy cryptocurrency miners or ransomware. However, more motivated attackers now have a way to compromise a critical piece of the IT infrastructure if it is not updated. If you have not already, apply these security updates immediately and look for signs of compromise.”

As Volexity highlights, the best defense is to make sure Exchange is patched with the latest security updates and keep installations current.

  • Cyberattacks May Be Imminent In Wake Of U.S. Strike On Iranian Leader

Cyberattacks May Be Imminent In Wake Of U.S. Strike On Iranian Leader

In the wake of a U.S. strike that killed Iranian Maj. Gen. Qasem Soleimani, Quds Force Commander, analysts and former officials are warning that a cyberattack may be imminent, according to The Washington Post.

“At this point, a cyberattack should be expected,” Jon Bateman, former Defense Intelligence Agency analyst on Iran’s cyber capabilities, and currently a cybersecurity fellow at the Carnegie Endowment for International Peace, told The Post.

Iran’s cyber troops are some of the best in the world and the country has a long history of successfully attacking Western targets. Between 2011 and 2013, Iran was responsible for ongoing attacks on U.S. banks. Similarly, Iran is believed to be responsible for an attack on the Las Vegas Sands casino in 2014 that resulted in data being wiped.

Quds Force, the unit Soleimani commanded, specializes in unconventional warfare, including cyber warfare. The fact it was the Quds Force commander who was killed will likely add to the desire for revenge by a unit uniquely qualified to exact it.

Philip Ingram, a former senior officer in British Military Intelligence, told Forbes that we can expect something “immediate and spectacular.” He went into sat the killing of Soleimani “cannot be underestimated.”

  • Truecaller Flaw Puts 150 Million Users at Risk

Truecaller Flaw Puts 150 Million Users at Risk

Zak Doffman at Forbes is reporting on a newly discovered vulnerability in the Truecaller app that puts 150 million iOS and Android users at risk.

Truecaller is one of the premier caller ID apps, identifying unknown calls from mobile, landline and prepaid phones. It also provides the ability to block numbers and auto-block robocalls and telemarketers. The app also offers VoIP calling, call recording, SMS and group chat, as well banking and payments.

Truecaller just recently passed the 500 million download mark, with 150 million daily users. Of those, 100 million are in India, where the app has surpassed Facebook in popularity. According to the company’s blog, “every tenth active user in India has linked their bank account to Truecaller Pay.” The app’s popularity, not to mention the breadth of services offered, makes the vulnerability even more concerning since it is a flaw in the Truecaller API.

According to Mr. Doffman, “India-based researcher Ehraz Ahmed discovered the flaw, disclosing it to local media and the company and waiting for a fix before going public. He explained to me that ‘the flaw allows an attacker to inject his malicious link as the profile URL. The user viewing the attacker’s profile by search or through a popup gets exploited.’ Ahmed has said the flaw could be used to mount serious attacks on target machines, although this was not the scope of the proof of concept and has been played down by the company.

“What Ahmed did manage through his POC was ‘to fetch a user’s information like IP address, User-Agent, and time. The user visiting the profile would not notice this as it all happens in the background, and for the user, it would look like any other profile.’ With the now-patched flaw impacting Truecaller’s API, it is a potential threat to all apps and platforms.”

Mr. Ahmed worked with Truecaller to identify the bug and a patch was immediately released. Because the issue was with the app’s API, the company was able to patch the flaw on their end, although all users should update to the latest version to be on the safe side.

As more and more apps offer services that cross a range of industries, such as communication and banking, flaws like this will represent a much greater threat to users.

  • Huawei In Talks to License 5G Tech to U.S. Companies

Huawei In Talks to License 5G Tech to U.S. Companies

Huawei may have found a way around a ban on exporting its equipment to the U.S. that went into effect in May 2019. According to Reuters, the telecommunications equipment company is in talks to license its 5G tech to U.S. firms.

The company has repeatedly been accused of having backdoors in its equipment and software—backdoors the Chinese government allegedly uses for spying. Huawei has denied the allegations, but that has not saved it from being on a U.S. blacklist. Although the U.S. has not been successful in persuading all of its allies to similarly ban Huawei, the equipment company is still looked suspiciously by many Western powers.

Vincent Pang, senior vice president and board director, told Reuters “there are some companies talking to us, but it would take a long journey to really finalize everything. They have shown interest,” he added, although the conversations are in the very early stages.

Although the State Department has previously voiced skepticism about carriers being willing to license 5G tech and assume the cost of bringing it to market, the option may prove more desirable than the alternatives. European companies, such as Nokia and Ericsson, are more expensive than Huawei. There is also no U.S. 5G provider for carriers to fall back on. Licensing Huawei’s tech could give carriers an advantage by giving them more complete control over their network equipment, allowing them to fully optimize it for their needs.

As Zak Doffman at Forbes points out, Huawei may have another motive making its tech available for licensing.

“In offering to open its code to U.S. diligence, Huawei would make it impossible for security hawks to allege such hidden backdoors,” writes Doffman. “This then became the twist—Huawei isn’t embarking on an exercise in friendly bridge building to Trump or others in Washington. This is a major game of “call my bluff,” an attempt to call out a situation Huawei believes is politically motivated and not rooted in facts. If the U.S. believes what it says, the hypothesis runs, then it will take up the offer and prove its point. If it doesn’t, then the accusations that have been made have nothing to do with security or technology.”

In what seems like a never-ending battle between Washington and Huawei, it will be interesting to see if these talks lead to an easing of restrictions.

  • Mark Zuckerberg Jumps To No.6 On Forbes’ Billionaires List

Mark Zuckerberg Jumps To No.6 On Forbes’ Billionaires List

Facebook co-founder and CEO Mark Zuckerberg is now the sixth richest person on earth, according to Forbes 30th Annual World’s Billionaires Issue released on Tuesday.

Zuckerberg reportedly jumped into the top ten of Forbes Billionaires List for 2016 from No. 16 to No. 6 spot for the very first time. The young billionaire has a net worth of $44.6 billion and according to Forbes, he had one of the most fruitful financial years of his life in 2015. Despite economic problems faced by many entrepreneurs last year, Mark Zuckerberg was able to rake in $11.2 billion.

The 31-year-old Zuckerberg is also the youngest of the top 10 billionaires by 21 years. The second-youngest is Jeff Bezos, the 52-year-old founder of Amazon. Bezos secured the number 5 spot with his net worth of $48.9 billion. Like Zuckerberg, this is also his first time to land in the top ten.

Microsoft owner Bill Gates remains the richest man as he maintained his number one ranking for the last three years, with a net worth of $75 billion. He is followed by Amancio Ortega of Zara with $68.2 billion, Warren Buffet, CEO of Berkshire Hathaway on the third spot with $63.4 billion, and Carlos Slim, head of telecom company América Móvil, securing the fourth place on the top ten list with $53.2 billion.

If Mark Zuckerberg continues to earn 11 billion in the coming years, he could edge out Gates soon.

Forbes included 1,810 of the world’s richest people this year and their total net worth is $6.84 trillion. It is revealed that the U.S has the most number of billionaires with 540 billionaires, followed by mainland China with 251. The U.S. also has the most women in the 2016 list with 65 female billionaires followed by Germany with 27.

  • Jessica Alba and the Richest Self-Made Women in America

Jessica Alba is smiling all the way to the bank as she looks back at you from the cover of Forbes’ Magazine’s “America’s Richest Self-Made Women” issue.

Jessica Alba herself did not make the top 50 list, which cuts off with Beyonce and Judge Judy Sheindlin at $250 million each. Jessica Alba herself is only with $200 million.

    Only $200 million.

Jessica Alba’s business acumen is what gets her into the company of such women on this list as Oprah Winfrey, Meg Whitman, Madonna, Donna Karan, and Vera Wang.

Jessica Alba is co-owner in a business called The Honest Company, which helps to educate parents about protecting their children from harmful chemicals in products they buy. The company is now valued at $1 billion.

The company itself sells products like diapers and baby wash, and made $150 million last year. Word on the street is that the company may go public, selling on the New York Stock Exchange. If that is true, and the company is seen as profitable, Jessica Alba could be well set for life.

“It’s tempting to leave acting completely
and focus on my company,” Jessica Alba said. “It’s definitely more fulfilling. And when I put my time into it, I feel like I’m doing something that’s productive and there’s a real outcome.
With entertainment, I feel like you’re just throwing stuff against the wall and you don’t know if anyone’s going to see it.”

As for others on the list, some are in the tech field, as might be expected. But supermodel Kathy Ireland comes in at $420 million. According to Forbes, Ireland made her money through licensing deals. Ireland has “lent her name to some 17,000 unglamorous products from socks to ceiling fans.”

  • Monica Lewinsky Joins Twitter, Thousands Follow

It seems that at 41-years-old, Monica Lewinsky is ready for her second act. The most famous former intern ever, announced herself to the Twitter world today with a simple tweet, “#HereWeGo.” She followed that an hour later with another tweet, “excited (and nervous) to speak to #Under30Summit.” In just under five hours, Lewinsky already has over 20,000 followers, and she’s already verified.

Lewinksy’s Twitter bio says that she’s a “social activist. public speaker. contributor to vanity fair. knitter of things without sleeves.”

Clearly, Lewinsky did not launch her Twitter account just to discuss knitting. She is using the social media platform as part of her campaign to end cyberbullying and internet shaming.

She spoke today at Forbes’ inaugural 30 Under 30 summit in Philadelphia to a room full of about 1,000 accomplished millenials. “I was Patient Zero,” she said. “The first person to have their reputation completely destroyed worldwide via the Internet.”

Who could forget the tabloid scandal of the Bill Clinton, Monica Lewinsky affair? The stained blue dress, the Presidential impeachment, the betrayal by Linda Tripp, the cigar. It was everyday fodder for the masses, and the public ate it up like a bad soap opera turned reality.

“There was no Facebook, Twitter, or Instagram back then,” she said. “But there were gossip, news and entertainment websites replete with comment sections and emails which could be forwarded. Of course, it was all done on the excruciatingly slow dial up. Yet around the world this story went. A viral phenomenon that, you could argue, was the first moment of truly ‘social media’.”

Lewinsky also talked today about her life after the scandal. The past 15 years have obviously not been easy. She was embarrassed and ashamed, she even confessed to having suicidal thoughts.

She tried to move on with her life: handbag designer, reality dating show host, going back to school for a Masters Degree. But her past followed her everywhere.

She finally realized in 2010, following the suicide of Rutgers University student Tyler Clementi, who jumped from the George Washington Bridge after finding out his roommate secretly taped and shared video of him kissing a man, that she could make a difference. “That tragedy is one of the principal reasons I am standing up here today. While it touched us both, my mother was unusually upset by the story, and I wondered why. Eventually it dawned on me: she was back in 1998, back to a time when I was periodically suicidal; when she might very easily have lost me; when I, too, might have been humiliated to death.”

Lewinsky believes that by sharing her story and Tyler’s tragedy, that she can help combat online harassment and cyberbullying. “Having survived myself, what I want to do now is help other victims of the shame game survive, too,” she said. “I want to put my suffering to good use and give purpose to my past.”

If you would like to follow Lewinsky on Twitter, her handle is: @MonicaLewinsky.

  • Sandra Bullock Among Hollywood’s Top Earners

Sandra Bullock has risen to the top of the A-list over the course of her career, which includes big summer blockbusters as well as quieter cult classics, and now Forbes has proven that she’s earning a big paycheck for her box-office drawing power.

Bullock came in at the top spot on Forbes’ list of top paid actresses, beating out The Hunger Games star Jennifer Lawrence for number one. Jennifer Aniston, Gwyneth Paltrow, and Angelina Jolie make up the top five. Gravity had a big hand in putting her at the front of the list, as she took a big chunk of the huge profits: about $70 million, give or take.

The Gravity actress turned 50 recently, although it’s hard to believe she’s anywhere near that age. She celebrated with several girlfriends in Jackson Hole, Wyoming and had a night out at the Million Dollar Cowboy Bar, where Southern Soul Allstars took the stage.

“They said they kept it [quiet] because she sometimes likes to just act like a normal person. They came out and danced and took a bunch of pictures,” said band member Dianne McManus.

Bullock’s next project will reportedly be a film about Brownie Wise, the woman who revolutionized the Tupperware industry by creating their now-infamous Tupperware parties.

  • Sandra Bullock Tops Forbes’ Highest-Paid List

Gravity star Sandra Bullock has been named the highest-paid actress by Forbes.

According to Forbes, Bullock landing the top spot has been credited primarily to the astronomical check she received for her work on the sci-fi thriller directed by Alfonso Cuaron. Between June 2013 and June 2014, Sandra is said to have made approximately $51 million.

When Gravity was first pitched, producers were skeptical that a movie featuring one person in space for the majority of the film would be a hit among audiences. However, the film quickly became a hit, and raked in $716 million at the global box office.

Gravity was successful in landing ten Oscar nominations, and taking home seven of those wins. However, Bullock did not win her Best Actress nomination, and lost to Cate Blanchett of Blue Jasmine.

Hunger Games star Jennifer Lawrence came in second with $34 million, and former Friends star Jennifer Aniston came in at a close third with $31 million. Rounding out the top five is: Iron Man 3 star Gwyneth Paltrow with $19 million, Maleficent star Angelina Jolie with $18 million, and The Other Woman star Cameron Diaz tying with Jolie with $18 million. Combined, the top ten women on Forbes’ list brought in a total of $216 million for the year.

Angelina Jolie topped Forbes charts last year with $33 million, due in part for her work on the film Maleficent.

  • Sandra Bullock Top Earning Actress Of 2013 With 51 Million Dollars

Sandra Bullock has been named by Forbes as the top earning actress of 2013. How much did she earn? Only about 51 million dollars.

Although that may seem like a fortune to the average American, Bullock only earned a fraction of what the top male actor earned in 2013. Robert Downey Jr. claimed the top Forbes ranking for the second year in a row with his 75 million dollar take from last year. Over all, the top ten earning actress only earned slightly more than half of what their male counterparts earned. 419 million dollars for the men and 226 million for the women.

Other actresses to make the list were Jennifer Lawrence ($34 million), Jennifer Aniston ($31 million), Gwyneth Paltrow ($19 million), Angelina Jolie ($18 million), and Cameron Diaz ($18 million).

Last year, Jolie topped the list with 33 million dollars in earnings.

To what does the Bullock owe this fortune? Forbes explained in the list that Gravity, in spite of a downturn in movies with original concepts, grabbed 716 million dollars at box office.

Sandra Bullock just turned 50. How does this millionaire actress celebrate? By going to Jackson Hole, Wyoming to get away from Hollywood for a little while. She kept the whole affair hush hush, only including a few close friends in on her trip. The multimillionaire actress appropriately went to the Million Dollar Cowboy Bar to hear the Southern Soul Allstars play.

“They said they kept it [quiet] because she sometimes likes to just act like a normal person,” Dianne McManus, vocalist, pianist, and keyboardist of the group, explained. “They came out and danced and took a bunch of pictures.”

When word got out the next day that Bullock had been at the bar with her friends, people flooded into the bar to hopefully catch a glimpse of the actress.

But she was nowhere to be seen.

She was probably enjoying her millions somewhere else.

  • Verizon Internet: Two Major Upcoming Changes

This past week, Verizon announced that it will be making two major adjustments to the data usage of its customers—increasing upload speeds to match download speeds for nearly all of its FiOS service subscribers and limiting the data speeds for the top five percent of data users for its 4G network, according to the Los Angeles Times and Forbes respectively.

The first change, announced in a news release this past Monday, comes with Verizon’s expectation that its users’ upload activity will double by the end of 2016. The increasing of upload speeds will allow users to upload videos to sites like YouTube nearly as quickly as downloading videos they want to watch.

Verizon has about 6 million subscribers and its FiOS service—which relies on fiber-optic cables that allow for both faster download and upload speeds—is available in 20 markets, including 1.4 million households in Los Angeles.

Verizon’s lowest plan, 15 megabytes per second download and 5 megabytes per second upload, will rise to 15-15, and the highest tier, 500-100, will switch to 500-500 in the coming months.

The other major adjustment Verizon will make is the limiting of data speeds for the five percent of customers that use the most data on its 4G network. Called the “network optimization policy,” users that fall in this category will see their speeds grow slower when they use a cell site that is experiencing heavy demand, such as a buffering in internet gaming or a lagging of web browsing.

The network optimization policy will affect the top five percent of users that have passed their minimum contract term and consume around 4.7GB of data per month or more.

“We understand that our customers rely on their smartphones and tablets every day. Our network optimization policy provides the best path to ensure a continued great wireless experience for all of our customers on the best and largest wireless network in the U.S.,” said Verizon Wireless VP of Technology Mike Haberman in a statement.

Verizon will notify customers of the network optimization policy through a message on August 1.

  • Floyd Mayweather Jr. Earned $105 Million For 72 Minutes Of Work In 2014

Professional boxer Floyd Mayweather Jr. has been receiving multi-million dollar checks for over 10 years. On Wednesday, Forbes reported that he made $105 million for 72 minutes in the boxing ring, which makes him the highest paying athlete of 2014. It is the second time Mayweather had the top spot in three years. This goes to show that his nickname, “Money,” suits him well.

Mayweather shares the list with soccer superstar Cristiano Ronaldo on the second spot, and LeBron James on the third. Others on the list include Lionel Messi, Kobe Bryant, Rodger Federer, Tiger Woods, Rafael Nadal, and Matt Ryan.

Forbes also reported that Mayweather earned at least $25 million for each of his fights since 2007. Mayweather has been a professional boxer since 1996, and has accumulated nearly $400 million since then.

My Name Is Floyd “Money” Mayweather

Mayweather’s top spot can be accredited to his most lucrative fights, which were with Marcos Maidana and Saul “Canelo” Alvarez. According to Darren Rovell of ESPN, boxing stars today earn much more than boxing stars then. “Forbes says Floyd Mayweather is the top earning athlete, making $105M over last year. That’s up 150% from Tyson’s #1 pay in 1989,” he tweeted.

Reports also indicate that Mayweather is the first athlete to go beyond the $100 million mark, besides Tiger Woods.

Mayweather has a good chance of maintaining the top spot as the highest paid athlete next year. That is, if he fights two times next year as expected. However, his next fights will not be under Golden Boy Promotions. Instead, they will be under Mayweather Promotions. “Mayweather Promotions will continue to promote Floyd’s fights and Floyd will continue to put on the biggest fights in boxing,” said Leonard Ellerbe, Mayweather Promotions’ Chief Executive.

Since Mayweather is in control of his fights, this could mean more money for the athlete.

  • New York Rangers Punch Ticket To Stanley Cup Finals

The New York Rangers are back. The Blueshirts punched their ticket to the 2014 Stanley Cup Finals with a 1-0 win over the Montreal Canadiens Thursday night, defeating the Canadiens 4-2 in their seven-game series.

Dominic Moore scored the game’s only goal in the second period. New York goalie Henrik Lundqvist, who was pulled in Game 5, rebounded in Game 6 with 18 saves and his first shutout of the playoffs.

“We’ve given ourselves the opportunity to compete for the Cup,” Rangers’ coach Alain Vigneault told Reuters. “It was a great feeling tonight. We played, in my book, probably our best game of the playoffs.”

The Rangers will play the winner of the Western Conference Finals between the Chicago Blackhawks and the Los Angeles Kings. The Kings currently lead the series 3-2, with Game 6 played tonight at the Staples Center in Los Angeles.

On their way to the Stanley Cup Finals, the Rangers defeated the Philadelphia Flyers in seven games in the first round and came back from a 3-1 series deficit against the Pittsburgh Penguins in the second round.

The 2014 Stanley Cup Finals will mark the first time the Rangers have been back in the Finals in 20 years, when they defeated the Vancouver Canucks in 1994.

In anticipation of the Rangers first chance to win the Stanley Cup in decades, ticket prices have soared, becoming the most expensive in the past five years according to Forbes. The Rangers will play the first two games on the road, with average ticket prices on the secondary for Game 3 and Game 4 priced at $2,202.72 and $2,419.57 respectively. Game 6 is the most expensive with an average ticket price of $2,737.35.

“The fact that the Rangers are in the largest market, there’s going to be a lot stronger appeal than other Eastern Conference teams,” Brad Adgate, research director for New York-based Horizon Media Inc., said to Bloomberg.com. “Tampa Bay? Washington? I mean, Columbus? There’s a really strong fan base in New York that has really come alive.”

The Stanley Cup Finals start on June 4.

  • Dr. Dre Beats Deal: An Apple For Dre Keeps The Dr. Well Paid

Dr. Dre Beats Deal: An Apple For Dre Keeps The Dr. Well Paid

Those who “forgot about Dre”, will remember him well after his recent Beats deal with Apple

When he and Interscope buddy Jimmy Iovine came up with the idea for the Beats by Dr. Dre headphones in 2008, the invention was meant to supplant those god awful ear buds that come with your ipod. The still sought after headphones continue to grace the good doctor’s bank account with additional zeroes years after their inception.

Last year alone, Beats headphones raked in about a billion dollars.

That may be why Apple is buying the company that sells the popular product for $3.2 billion.

Andre Young (which – if you don’t know, now you know – is his government name) pretty much confirmed as much in a recent video posted to Tyrese Gibson’s Facebook page.

The footage shows the 49-year-old Death Row Records co-founder with party-goers “getting drunk off Heinekens” and celebrating hip hop opulence. And why not, when he’s about to be the “First billionaire in hip-hop, right here on the motherf—–g West Coast!”

    Or is he?

Conferring with the judges (over at Forbes), I’m being informed: not quite.

While that final financial figure (after capital gains taxes) may make Dre $200 million short of landing that “billionaire” label, it may still seem a better deal compared to the work and effort of making an album or doing a tour after. That’s a matter sparking a fan schism. After scouring Twitter, I see an even opinion mix supporting both sides. If producing rap’s your passion, the deal’s less appealing. But if making paper’s the priority, the doc’s rocking the rap world.

Indeed, if the video announcement is true, Dr. Dre will be the hip hop kid with the most toys – if we’re measuring status in cash, not new albums. And I’m not being snarky. I just know a few people who might like to use those majestic headphones to actually enjoy “Detox” sometime before they die.

But if we consider him as a person (which, I know, is hard in “I/ME” culture), he’s also an artist by trade and a man with a family. As an artist, he’d admittedly “rather be behind the scenes and organizing”. So it’s not altogether surprising that someone with an auditory gift for quintessential sound prefers to propagate protégé’s or fantastic music devices.

Also, given his age and the tragic passing of his son, perhaps family and time spent with friends is more of a life priority. Our opinions on the life of a man we don’t know are ultimately immaterial, but I’m just offering a different perspective for fans craving ear refills from the hip-hop doctor.

Plus, hope’s not lost for Detox. He’s still recording:

Forbes status, new albums, or not – Mr. Young’s an old school hip-hop classic who’s managed to remain relevant in his field. Otherwise, you wouldn’t be reading this.

Congratulations on your deal, my dude.

  • Gisele Audited by IRS After Listed as Forbes’ Highest-Paid Model

Brazilian supermodel, Gisele Bundchen, was recently reviewed by the IRS after making “The World’s Highest-Paid Models of 2013” list on Forbes.

According to Forbes, the 33-year-old earned $42 million last year and “replaced Beyoncé as the face of H&M, reportedly beat out Rihanna for Chanel and took over David Yurman from Kate Moss.”

This assessment obviously comes at a time when taxes are due for completion tomorrow, Tuesday April 15.

But, the mother-of-two and wife of NFL player Tom Brady told sources that Forbes’ calculations-determined by merchandising partnerships, photo shoots, contracts, and other fashion gigs-were terribly off.

“It’s sad because the people who write these things don’t have my bank-account details,” she told Brazilian magazine Mdemulher, according to Mail Online.

And, it appears that making it on the list doesn’t impress Bundchen whatsoever.

“I do OK, I earn plenty, but not as much as they say,” she said. “I’ve already been audited by the IRS because of this list, and, truthfully, whether I’m on this list or not doesn’t interest me.”

She later stated: “I’ve got the same interests, the same day-to-day life, as any woman. I want to raise my children well, be a good wife and work.”

The supermodel apparently doesn’t view figures as of importance to her daily life. To her, family is what truly matters.

“This is what I value: Are my children educated, is my husband happy, are people feeling positive energy from me? There should be a magazine to quantify knowledge, understanding and love for people: That is power.”

Bundchen ranked first place yet again for the seventh year in a row, supposedly making her the richest and most powerful supermodel in the fashion industry.

However, after thorough investigation, the IRS determined that Forbes’ estimations were actually more than what Bundchen garnered in 2013.

Additionally, models Miranda Kerr ($7.2M), Adriana Lima ($6M), and Kate Moss ($5.7M) made the list.

  • Bill Gates Tops Forbes’ 2014 List Of 500 Richest People

On March 3rd, Forbes, the well-known American business and financial information magazine, released its yearly tally of the 500 richest people that the magazine has been closely following. The list was first published in 2000 and includes various well-known names, such as: Prince Al-Waleed, Warren Buffet, various members of the Walton family, Michael Dell, and Paul Allen; however, this year, former Microsoft CEO and philanthropist Bill Gates wins the #1 slot on Forbes’ “500 Richest People” list.

2014’s Forbes Billionaires: Full List Of The World’s 500 Richest People was published online at 7:00 AM EST by Abram Brown. In Brown’s commentary of the “500 Richest People,” he mentions his methodology for compiling this comprehensive list and states that the billionaires included within the list are “worth $6.4 trillion, a greater sum than any other Forbes has previously calculated.”

As for the list’s #1 spot, Bill Gates (listed under Microsoft) was listed at $76 billion, beating out Carlos Slim Helu & family of Mexico’s Telmex corporation, who was listed at $72 billion. Brown praised Gates in the following statement in Forbes’ article:

“Bill Gates saw the potential in PCs before anyone else truly grasped the commercial value of the concept. His foresight allowed him to build Microsoft into a $400 billion behemoth, and made him a passionate believer in the system that allowed him to do so.”

The “Top 5” richest people included in Brown’s list are:

    1. Bill Gates ($76 billion) – Microsoft
    2. Carlos Slim Helu & family ($72 billion) – telecom
    3. Amancio Ortega ($64 billion) – retail
    4. Warren Buffett ($58.2 billion) – Berkshire Hathaway
    5. Larry Ellison ($48 billion) – Oracle

It has been a while since Gates has been listed #1 on Forbes’ list. For the past few years, Gates has appeared in the #2 spot since his last #1 appearance in 2009. Other well-known names who are included within the list are: Michael Bloomberg ($33 billion) of Bloomberg LP, Mark Zuckerberg ($28.5 billion) of Facebook, Rupert Murdoch ($13.5 billion) of FOX, and Eric Schmidt ($9.3 billion) of Google.

Forbes also tweeted the announcement of the “500 Richest People” list on Twitter:

  • Steven Spielberg Ousts Oprah as Influential Celeb

Steven Spielberg has ousted Oprah Winfrey as the most influential celebrity in the U.S., according to an annual study conducted by Forbes magazine. It seems it was the film Lincoln that gave Spielberg the edge over Oprah. Earning him 12 Oscar nominations as well as $275 million at the box office in the U.S., it also brought in $93 million at the global box office. Forty seven percent of people surveyed rated Steven Spielberg as influential.

“A celebrity’s ‘Influential’ score represents how that person is perceived as influencing the public, their peers, or both,” president of E-Poll Market Research, Gerry Philpott, said. E-Poll Market Research conducted the study for Forbes.

Oprah Winfrey topped the Forbes list last year with a 49 percent influential rating. She slipped this year to just 45 percent–still impressive, of course, but not high enough to top Steven Spielberg. Reps at Forbes think that Oprah staying out of the limelight for much of the past year contributed to her decline in influence.

Forbes magazine announced Steven Spielberg as their most influential celebrity on Wednesday using a variety of social media outlets–Twitter being among them.

So who else made the list of influential celebrities behind both Steven Spielberg and Oprah Winfrey? Star Wars creator George Lucas earned third place in the survey. Directors Ron Howard and Martin Scorsese came in fourth and fifth, respectively. Other celebrities who made the top ten list include Barbara Walters, Bono and Dr. Oz.

And while Forbes hasn’t said exactly how many people took the survey, E-Poll Market Research ranked more than 6,600 celebrities on 46 personality attributes in their efforts to compile that top ten list.

Are you surprised that Steven Spielberg beat out Oprah Winfrey as most influential celebrity? Was there anyone noticeably absent from the top 5 who you might have expected to see there?

  • Dwayne Johnson Named Top-Grossing Actor Of 2013

Dwayne Johnson, the Fast and Furious 6 star, has been named Forbes’ highest-grossing actor of 2013. The popular action star has been known to be in some big box office hits, and as a result, becomes the actor who made the most money of anyone this year.

It was a big year for action films, and while Iron Man 3 was the highest-grossing film, Robert Downey Jr. simply did not make enough other films in order to beat Dwayne Johnson out for the top-grossing actor of the year honor.

Dwayne Johnson appeared in five films this year, and while they weren’t all huge hits, Fast And Furious 6 was able to get him there with a little bit of help from the others, such as G.I. Joe: Retaliation. His films made a total of $1.3 billion at the global box office, preventing anyone else from coming close.

The magazine takes into account the gross of an actor’s films between the time period of June 2012-June 2013, and are looking at how many dollars each star’s movies brought in at the box office worldwide this year.

As a contrast to this honor, Adam Sandler was recently received the most-overpaid actor honor for 2013.

With Fast And Furious 7 set to come out next year, in addition to Hercules, he could be looking at a similar year for 2014. The success of Fast And Furious 6 was also big enough to place Vin Diesel and Paul Walker on the list as well, although Diesel placed higher due to his latest Riddick film hitting theaters this year as well. In total, Fast And Furious 6 made $788.6 million at the box office.

Robert Downey Jr. is second on the list with $1.2 billion in box office earnings, due to the success of Iron Man 3. While he has films coming out next year, he is not predicted to have another big year until 2015 when The Avengers: Age of Ultron comes out.

As it certainly helps to make multiple films in a year, Steve Carrell placed in third with three films to help him out, one of them being a huge success. Despicable Me 2 was a hit with people of all ages, and brought in $919 million at the box office. Sandra Bullock and Jennifer Lawrence also make the list as the only two women this year.

Despite not having the top-grossing film, Dwayne Johnson was able to grab the honor of the top-grossing actor of 2013.

  • Madonna and Lady Gaga Earn Big Bucks This Year

It’s no secret that Madonna works hard. She’s got a killer body, amazing musical career as well as a handful of successful business ventures. So it’s no doubt the 55-year-old diva has a pretty hefty bank account.

Madonna has topped Forbes‘ 2013 list of the top-earning women in music making a whopping $125 million this year. While the majority of the money came from the last bit of her MDNA Tour, grossing 305 million overall, she did well with her merchandise sales of her clothing line and fragrance.

In November, the star claimed the title of highest paid musician, beating out Lady Gaga who made an estimated 80 million.

So who follows Madonna and Gaga?

Bon Jovi, Toby Keith and Coldplay came next, bringing in the majority of their money from their tour gigs. After the boys, Justin Bieber follows making $58 million, Taylor Swift ($55 million), Elton John ($54 million), Beyoncé ($53 million) and Kenny Chesney ($53 million.)

Hey guys, that’s not too shabby!

  • Adam Sandler Named Most Overpaid Actor

Every year, Forbes Magazine calculates how much our movie stars are actually worth. Using data collected from Celebrity 100 research and Box Office Mojo, along with the star’s last three films, they are able to determine just how much each star earned at the box office per dollar of pay.

This year Adam Sandler was named the top overpaid actor, making $15 million per film. Sandler’s movies, Jack & Jill and That’s My Boy , were the culprits that landed him at the top of the list. Jack & Jill grossed $150 million but the film cost an estimated $80 million to make, leaving only a mere $70 million for Sony. The same thing happened with That’s My Boy when it only grossed $57 million and cost $70 million to make. Sandler’s latest movie, Grown Ups 2, actually did quite well at the box office grossing $246 million with a budget of $80 million. However the cut off for the movies that Forbes considers is June 1, and Grown Ups 2 was not released until July.

“We estimate that for every dollar Sandler was paid on his last three movies, the films returned an average of $3.40,” Forbes‘ Dorothy Pomerantz wrote.

Below is Forbes’ complete list of overpaid actors:

    1. Adam Sandler ($3.40)
    2. Katherine Heigl ($3.50)
    3. Reese Witherspoon ($3.90)
    4. Nicholas Cage ($6.00)
    5. Kevin James ($6.10)
    6. Denzel Washington ($8.30)
    7. Steve Carell ($10.00)
    8. Jennifer Aniston ($10.60)
    9. Matt Damon ($10.60)
    10. Ryan Reynolds ($10.70)

This was the first year that Kevin James and Steve Carrell made the list, and that is in part due to their most recent movie flops, Here Comes the Boom and The Incredible Burt Wonderstone.

  • Adam Sandler Tops Forbes’ “Overpaid” List

Adam Sandler was one of the kings of the ’90s. Not only did he have a very successful run on “Saturday Night Live”–where he was a golden god in an era that included David Spade, Julia Sweeney and Chris Farley–he also starred in some of the most quotable films of that time (“Did the penguin tell you to do this?”) and had a successful side career as a comic musician.

But these days, the luster seems to be fading from Sandler’s films; although “Grown Ups” was a success, “Jack and Jill” and “That’s My Boy” were considered flops. Sadly, Forbes Magazine says that for every dollar Sandler makes, he pulls in just $3.40 at the box office. For that reason, he is the number one overpaid actor of the year.

But he’s in good company; the magazine had several other actors they consider to be asking for too much when it comes to their work; Katherine Heigl, Reese Witherspoon, Nicholas Cage, Kevin James, Denzel Washington, Steve Carell, Jennifer Aniston, Matt Damon, and Ryan Reynolds finish up the top ten list.

Sandler was also on last year’s list, though Eddie Murphy beat him to the number one spot; Reese Witherspoon and Katherine Heigl were on it, as well.
