  • Paris Hilton, Ashley Benson, and More Mourn Loss of Makeup Artist Jake Bailey Following Suicide

    Paris Hilton and Ashley Benson are just two of many Hollywood celebrities mourning the untimely passing of makeup artist Jake Bailey. Bailey was discovered by his assistant on Friday, dead from what is believed to have been suicide by carbon monoxide poisoning. An official cause of death hasn’t been determined, and is pending completion of an autopsy.

    Paris Hilton, like many celebrities who knew and loved Jake Bailey, took to social media to share her grief.

    “So sad, shocked & devastated to hear about @ByJakeBailey.? He was such an amazing person, an incredibly talented makeup artIst & friend. He was my makeup artist for the past 15 years. We travelled the world together, worked on so many beautiful projects & shared so many memories. Will miss him so much? My thoughts & prayers go out to all his family & loved ones. Heaven has a new angel. ?? #RIPJakeBailey ??” she captioned a photo of herself and other with Bailey.

    Ashley Benson just saw Jake Bailey a week ago. Like Paris Hilton, she shared an Instagram post of herself with the late makeup artist.

    “Honestly can’t believe this. Was just with you last week. My sweet angel. #rip @byjakebailey you’ll be terribly missed,” she captioned it.

    It’s abundantly clear that Paris Hilton, Ashley Benson, Emmy Rossum, and a bevy of Hollywood stars are grieving not just the loss of a talented makeup artist, but the loss of a man they called their friend.

  • Emmy Rossum Lends a Helping Hand to Childhood Friend

    Emmy Rossum is a good friend.

    According to Page Six, the 29-year-old actress blew into New York City to lend a helping hand to her childhood friend Dorie Golkin Smith.

    Emmy Rossum’s friend is co-owner of new Flatiron clothing shop Of Mercer and Rossum made a quick trip to the big city to help her friend get ready for her store’s opening last week.

    “[Emmy] painted the walls of the store — the doors — everything that needed finishing,” said a source. “She went methodically through each letter on the sign with a Q-tip to make sure it was neat.”

    According to Page Six, the Shameless actress was in NYC for barely 24 hours before heading back to shoot the Showtime series.

    It must have been a balm for Rossum’s broken heart to spend some time with her childhood friend.

    When celebrity make-up artist Jake Bailey reportedly took his own life last week, Emmy Rossum posted a heartfelt message about her friend, revealing that she had recently spent time with Bailey.

    According to Entertainment Tonight, Bailey worked with celebrities including Lea Michele, Christina Aguilera, Angelina Jolie, Jenna Dewan-Tatum, Katy Perry and, most recently, Selena Gomez.

  • Emmy Rossum Tried to Welcome New Neighbor, Justin Bieber; It Didn’t Go So Well

    Emmy Rossum has a new next door neighbor in her Beverly Hills neighborhood, Justin Bieber, but he’s not necessarily reciprocating her generousity.

    Emmy Rossum told the gang at SiriusXM’s Sway in the Mornings that she tried to go by Justin Bieber’s new digs and welcome him to the neighborhood, but it didn’t exactly go as planned.

    “Justin Bieber just moved into the house next door to me,” Emmy Rossum said. “He’s my new next door neighbor and I went over to offer him a neighborly hello and I’m not going to do that anymore,” she said. “He has a ton of bodyguards there and they’re really scary.”

    Poor, neighborly Emmy Rossum was shooed off by his crew, but she did get a glimpse of the star.

    “He pulled up in his Bentley and then went inside…he was actually rapping as he got out of the car. He was like, ‘Ball so hard motherf—kers wanna’…and I was like, yup, Justin Bieber is my neighbor, that’s cool.”

    Let’s hope things go better for Emmy Rossum than Bieber’s previous neighbors.

    Justin Bieber, 21, hasn’t always been the best of neighbors and has even reportedly spit on neighbors. He was embroiled in a lawsuit with a Calabasas neighbor whom he egged. He was required to pay $80,000 in restitution.

    “It was so surreal for me,” Emmy Rossum said of living next to Justin Bieber. “I’m not going to ask for a cup of sugar.”

    When asked if she planned to party with the Biebs, Emmy Rossum responded with a laugh, “I don’t think he’s going to invite me. I think I’m too old for his demo.”

  • Emmy Rossum Doesn’t Have To Be Glamorous To Be Sexy

    Emmy Rossum, with her dark, doe-like eyes, pale skin, and sheaf of chestnut hair coiled over one shoulder, doesn’t have to try too hard to be glamorous. Her red-carpet looks are generally given a thumbs up by critics, and more often than not she looks like a ’40s dame transplanted to present-day Hollywood.

    But, she says, women don’t need makeup and curls to be sexy. Having recently tapped into a different side of herself for her character on Shameless–Fiona–the actress and singer says she discovered some truths about female sexuality.

    “Women don’t have to be glamorous to be considered sexy. I think that was so eye-opening for me. For someone who doesn’t wear makeup or fancy clothes, I think that was for me really liberating in a way. You can raw. You can be aggressive. You can be vulnerable. And you can be sexy,” Rossum told Variety.

    Emmy Rossum and her Shameless co-stars hit the red carpet for awards season several times over the past couple of weeks, and the actress shared photos of the exciting events on Instagram looking plenty glamorous.

    Emmy Rossum was one of several actresses who wore Armani on the red carpet for the SAG Awards over the weekend, predictably making many Best Dressed lists. Rossum was in good company, with Reese Witherspoon, Sarah Paulson, and Richard Linklater also donning the brand.

  • Savannah Guthrie Returns to ‘Today’ after 3-Month Maternity Leave Looking Fabulous

    Savannah Guthrie returned to the Today show Monday after a three month maternity leave and she looks great.

    The 42-year-old mother returned 12 weeks after she and husband Mike Feldman welcomed their little baby girl, Vale.

    “It’s so great to be back here, just to see everybody and all of our friends here behind the scenes,” said Guthrie. “I’m used to that three a.m. alarm, but it sounds more like a baby crying.”

    Guthrie indulged fans and co-hosts alike with some home videos she and Feldman shot of their little family.

    The adorable montage shows all of the big moments of the past few months, including an emotional Guthrie heading to the hospital to give birth and the couple holding their baby for the first time.

    “When I lay my eyes on her, I’m just like ‘There you are!’” Guthrie gushed.

    The clips of the the baby, who apparently “looks a lot like Mike,” include every little new parent faux-pas.

    “They don’t send you home with a little manual on what to do” said Guthrie before the video shows the couple trying to install their daughter’s car seat.

    “This first month or so I really checked out. It just felt really important for to focus on her and family,” said Guthrie.

    Like every mother before her, Guthrie‘s first morning back to work was “bittersweet.” Having to leave her little one at home for the first time was hard because the time she has shared with Vale was “so precious and magical.”

    “I definitely don’t want to paint a completely rosy picture. It’s hard. You get very, very exhausted. I’m terrified to come back to a job where I have to speak for a living because I honestly have a really hard time right now putting basic sentences together,” she said before adding “Matt [Lauer] will be so gracious about that.”

    The final tear-invoking moment of the video shows Guthrie waking up her daughter before her first day back, whispering into her precious girl’s ear, “I’m going to work.”

    It was a sweet return for the new mom, with well-wishes coming from a slew of celebrities, including Josh Lucas, Debra Messing, Keri Russell, Rita Wilson, Glenn Close, Russell Brand, Seth Rogen, Jill Martin, Minnie Driver, Lady Antebellum, Chelsea Handler, Emmy Rossum, Clive Davis and B.J.     Sophia Bush dished several weeks ago about her role on the new NBC hit show Chicago P.D., and talked about what it’s like playing a tough big city cop. Something fans might not know about the 31-year-old actress, however, is that she is a big fan of the band Foster the People.

    Bush was spotted out on a sunny Thursday afternoon in Beverly Hills last week with some of her girlfriends–just strolling around window shopping and enjoying the beautiful spring day. It’s possible she had an earbud plugged it while she chatted, however, because it wasn’t long after she shared her opinion of a new album.

    It was just a little while that same day that she voiced her support of Foster the People via Twitter. She shared the tweet as part of her Thursday Tune recommendation. The actress very clearly has excellent taste in music.

    On Wednesday night Sophia Bush hung out with girlfriends Emmy Rossum and Camilla Belle at the H&M Conscious Collection Dinner.

    It was that same day that she received exciting news about Chicago P.D., and she shared that with her Twitter followers, too.

    It certainly appears like there’s lots of fun things going on in Sophia Bush’s life right now. She stars in a hit TV show that has been picked up for a second season, she has lots of great girlfriends she loves hanging out with, and she loves a most eclectic and very talented band–Foster the People. On top of that she’s talented and beautiful.

  • Emmy Rossum Gives Dating Advice: Nerds Need Love Too

    On Saturday, at Real Simple’s Beauty & Balance Botanical Cocktail in New York City, PEOPLE got a chance to chat with Emmy Rossum, 27, and she shared some very good dating advice for all of the women out there … “STOP dating bad boys!”

    Rossum’s characters tend to be attracted to the hot bad guys, however she admits that they really aren’t her type in real life. “I’m kinda more attracted to the nerd,” the Shameless star said. “I’m really into guys who are super smart and funny and can teach me something I don’t know about.”

    Rossum is a firm believer that it is what is inside that counts, and attraction is more than just looks. “Girls, and guys too, are so shallow that we don’t give a chance to the good guy who’s maybe not as cute,” she explained. “They’re kinda like a fixer-upper apartment.”

    Emmy encourages women to step out of their comfort zones, and try dating someone that they never would have before. She explains that you can’t change a person’s character, but you can give them a makeover, and nerds need love too. “You need to pick the guy who’s really good inside and then give him a makeover,” she said. “Turn him into the perfect version of himself. You can never change what’s inside, that’s the problem. You can change their jacket and their hairstyle, and buy them a Clarisonic.”

  • Emmy Rossum and Celebs Glam It Up at Designer’s Bash

    Emmy Rossum turned heads with other fellow celebs at a lavish bash thrown by British designer Antonio Berardi on Tuesday, January 7, at Mr. Chow.

    Along with the Shameless actress, Kate Beckinsdale, Nicole Ritchie, Diane Kruger, Joshua Jackson, and Dita Von Teese were also in attendance.

    Beckinsdale and Rossum honored the designer by wearing his dresses at the event. Beckinsdale looked gorgeous in a monochrome racer neck sheath dress from the designer’s Resort 2014 collection. She paired her black and white frock with black strappy heels and a matching clutch. Of course her best accessory was her director husband Les Wiseman on her arm.

    Not to be outdone, Rossum turned heads with a lime-green evening dress from the designer. Her porcelain skin glowed against the brightly-colored frock, and her dark, long hair provided an elegant and striking contrast. The actress also sported black heels and a clutch to finish the look.

    Apparently, this night out is good news for Rossum, who suffered from food poisoning over the holidays while on vacation. Rossum alerted her fans of her illness by posting this on Twitter:

  • Emmy Rossum Spoofs Gisele Bundchen’s Breastfeeding Picture

    Recently, Gisele Bundchen decided to share a picture of herself breastfeeding in the middle of getting ready for an event, while tagging the post with #multitasking. Emmy Rossum thought that it would be funny to recreate the situation, and share a picture of her own for all of her fans. The Shameless actress posted her own photo in order to spoof the act, and show how harmless the photo was.

    The picture of Gisele Bundnchen breastfeeding her baby went viral earlier this week after she posted it on her Instagram. Gisele is a supermodel, and the wife of New England Patriots quarterback Tom Brady. Emmy Rossum, as an actress, chose to mock the situation, and show everyone that it is not a big deal.

    She has also been a proponent of breastfeeding, and chose to share the picture as a statement of support. The picture was not graphic at all, but still created quite a stir online, and she was criticized by a number of people for doing it.

    However, other proponents of breastfeeding, and supporters of hers, celebrated the act. The 33-year-old model was seen breastfeeding her 12-month-old daughter Vivian, while getting her hair, makeup and nails done.

    Emmy Rossum recreated the photo exactly when posing in a salon chair, at the same time pretending to breastfeed a baby, although her baby was fake. Rossum does not have a baby, and is currently single after splitting up with her former co-star on Shameless, Tyler Jacob Moore.

    She plays Fiona Gallagher on the Showtime series, and in addition to Shameless, the actress has been seen in the films Mystic River, Phantom Of The Opera, and others.

    In the picture, Emmy Rossum captioned her post by saying “I feel ya girl,” while also tagging it with #fakebaby, in order to let her know that it was not real. The Shameless star also made headlines recently when she posed topless for Esquire magazine.

  • Emmy Rossum Poses Topless For Esquire

    Emmy Rossum, the star of Shameless, is definitely living up to her television show’s name. Rossum posed topless in a series of provocative pictures for the January issue of Esquire magazine.

    Despite her sexy photos, Rossum says she is actually a really down-to-earth geek chick. She admits that she has almost ran around her house naked, but has never once traveled down the road that most celebrities do, with drugs, and she gives all the thanks to how she was raised by her mother.

    “I would say there was a lot of openness in the house–but no drugs, no alcohol,” she said. “To this day, I’ve never done a hard drug. I’ve never done cocaine, I’ve never done heroin, I’ve never done Ecstasy, which is literally everywhere. It just was never interesting to me. The feeling of being out of control or doing anything that could potentially harm me was just not my cup of tea,” she continued. “I would literally rather run down the street naked and I’ve done almost that.”

    Rossum also discussed the recent event that put her life back into perspective. “It’s amazing how things can be put into perspective for you so easily. Last weekend, I was pulling out of my house, and I saw a body in the road and blood everywhere. This guy had been hit by a car,” she explains. “I called 911 and stayed with him. You see how lucky you are to just be alive. All the Hollywood bulls–t and accolades and money really doesn’t matter. It just gives you a slightly nicer house and slightly nicer food and slightly shinier hair.”

  • Shanola Hampton, Star Of Shameless, Is Pregnant

    Shanola Hampton, one of the stars of Showtime’s hit series Shameless, just announced her pregnancy to the public. On the show, Hampton plays the Gallagher family’s neighbor Veronica. Her and her boyfriend Kevin serve as a side plot to the main part of the show, which is dominated by the dysfunctional Gallagher family, run by their constantly drunk father, William H. Macy.

    This news comes as a bit of irony, since throughout much of her show, Shameless, Hampton’s character has been attempting to get pregnant. She did everything she could think of including getting her mother involved in the equation, making for a very awkward situation. She is the wild and eccentric best friend to Fiona Gallagher, played by Emmy Rossum. Shameless is adapted from a British television show of the same name and is getting ready to enter its fourth season, with the premiere set for January 12, 2014.

    This will be Hampton’s first child, and they are happy to be welcoming a baby girl into the world. She and her husband Daren Dukes have been married for 13 years and currently live in Los Angeles, according to People Magazine. Dukes is the creator and producer of The Dallas Cowboy Show.

    Hamtpon is a 36 year old American actress, and a native of South Carolina. Her co-stars and friends had a hard time keeping the news bottled up inside, and were thankful that she finally let it out in the open. The cast of Shameless also got together today for their first table read, which should get fans excited. The cast is even tweeting about it and displaying group pictures of the cast.

    The cast is back together for their first table read for season four, as of today, and they are all very excited about it. Shameless fans get ready, season four begins in just a few more months.   • New “Social Film Experience” Relies On Your Tweets

    If you thought that The Social Network was the closest thing that you would get to a true “Facebook movie,” think again. A new film project it attempting to let the viewers mold the action through Facebook and Twitter.

    The project is called Inside and is being billed as a “social film experience,” blending cinema and social media. It will be directed by DJ Caruso, of Disturbia and Eagle Eye fame, and will star Emmy Rossum.

    Here’s how it is described on the film’s site –

    This is a completely new genre of Hollywood-class entertainment where the audience can play as much of a role as the A-list talent and actors. Using social media you can interact with characters in real time, affect the plot.

    Inside is a LIVE entertainment experience, blending film and social media. You can play a part through Facebook, YouTube and Twitter. So, stay connected.

    There will be many twists and turns, and you can keep up with them IN REAL TIME by subscribing to YouTube or following on Twitter and Facebook.

    The “Inside Experience” YouTube Channel currently features the official trailer for the film. According to the Inside Facebook page, the plot looks something like this –

    Christina is a tough, resilient, 24-year old girl. She’s been trapped in a room. She has a laptop. And she needs your help to get out.

    It looks like viewers will be able to send Facebook messages and tweets in real time and the characters will respond to their suggestions. Apparently, the course of the completed, final film will be determined by the various social media interactions that the characters have with the public.

    The first installment begins on Monday July 25th at 2 p.m. EST.

    Part of the deal involves a cameo by one lucky viewer who will act int he final film alongside Emmy Rossum. People are being asked to submit audition videos to YouTube by July 20th. The film’s site gives hopeful actors a set of guidelines for their videos that include the following two script options –

    Script Option 1:

    Hi Christina. My name is (say your name here). We don’t know each other, but I want to let you know that I’m thinking about you. We all are.

    I don’t know why this happened to you, or who did this to you, but we will find you. We’re all in this together. So please stay strong. Help is on the way.

    Script Option 2:

    Christina. This is (say your name here). And I’m not just gonna sit back and let someone do this to you.

    I want to help you. I have an idea. A plan. We’re gonna get you out of there, Christina. You can count on me.

    After posting your audition to YouTube, you can post it on the film’s site. There are currently only a handful of user audition videos available to view on the site’s gallery.

    Of course, there has to be some marketing interests behind all of this, and those are the interests of Toshiba and Intel. The laptop that Emmy Rossum will be using to read all of the live tweets and Facebook posts is the new Toshiba Stellite P775 with a 2nd-gen Intel Core i7 processor.
