  • Debra Messing: “Mysteries of Laura” Star Finally Divorced from Daniel Zelman

Debra Messing, star of NBC’s The Mysteries of Laura, is finally divorced from Daniel Zelman, the executive producer of Damages. The two were married for more than 10 years, and are the parents of 11-year-old son Roman.

Splitting up in 2012, it’s been a long road for Debra Messing and Daniel Zelman. No details have hit the media yet on why the divorce took so many years.

During a 2012 interview with Ladies Home Journal, Debra Messing indicated at that time that the two were friends.

“It’s a very long time. When I say the move to New York was traumatic, it was traumatic because every aspect of my life was going through a huge change,” she said. “We are dear friends. And I am at peace with the journey we’ve had. I feel like the 20 years we had together has been a huge success. And despite the fact that everything is changing, I think everyone is thriving.”

Debra Messing moved to New York to star in the now-cancelled NBC show Smash.

Hopefully the finalization of their divorce puts Debra Messing and Daniel Zelman in an even better place.

  • Debra Messing To Take Part In ‘Will & Grace’ Reunion, Joins Cast Of ‘Dirty Dancing’ TV Movie

Debra Messing just released great news to Will & Grace fans everywhere. The 47-year-old actress confirmed on Saturday that the cast of the popular 2000s sitcom is indeed reuniting next month for a special tribute show.

The show, which is entitled Must See TV: A Tribute to James Burrows honors esteemed director’s 1,000th episode and is produced by Sean Hayes, who played the fabulous Jack McFarland on Will & Grace.

Burrows directed many episodes of the show during its eight-season run as well as other well-known TV sitcoms including Friends, Cheers, Mike & Molly, and The Big Bang Theory among others.

Will & Grace gained recognition when it aired in the late ‘90s and early 2000s for its straightforward but humorous portrayal of gay issues. Eric McCormack played the role of Will, a gay lawyer who lives with his straight best friend Grace, played by Debra Messing. Megan Mullally played Grace’s rich and condescending assistant Karen Walker.

Hayes called the tribute “the reunion of all reunion shows” when he made the official announcement during a Television Critics Association press tour.

Another highly-anticipated reunion is that of the hit show Friends, although not all cast members have confirmed attendance. After reports that Matthew Perry wasn’t going to make it to the special, TVLine officially confirmed that he will be there via taped greeting.

Apart from the NBC special, Debra Messing also confirmed her role in the ABC TV movie Dirty Dancing. She is set to play the mother of the lead character Baby, who will be played by Scream Queens star Abigail Breslin.

She made the announcement about her role in Dirty Dancing on Thursday via Twitter.

According to Variety, Debra Messing will play the role of a 1960s housewife named Marjorie Houseman who is trying to “rekindle her romance with her workaholic husband.”

  • Debra Messing Says Yes, There Will Be A “Will & Grace” Reunion

Debra Messing confirmed this week what fans have been hoping for since 2006: there will be a Will & Grace reunion, and it’s happening next month.

The sitcom aired on NBC for eight seasons, ending in 2006 and sending its stars in various successful directions. And while actors like Messing and Megan Mullally have gone on to do very different things, fans will always see their favorite characters in them no matter what roles they take on.

The reunion special will air on February 21 and isn’t just a reason to get the cast together again; it’s also to honor director Jim Burrows, who has a long history behind the camera of successful shows. According to Sean Hayes, who played Jack on the series, the special will be one to remember.

“It’s the reunion of all reunion shows. It’s going to be unlike anything everyone’s ever seen,” Hayes said in a recent interview.

Debra Messing has a lot on her plate these days; not only is she starring in The Mysteries of Laura, she’s also signed on to play Marjorie Houseman in a new Dirty Dancing remake, which stars Abigail Breslin as Baby. The film will be a three-hour event on ABC later this year.

Messing said in a recent interview with CBS News that she would love to work with some of her old castmates again, particularly Mullally. Debra has already had a mini-reunion of sorts with Eric McCormack–who played Will on the series–on The Mysteries of Laura, but she’s down for more if anyone else is available.

“Everyone is so busy. Megan has a new TV show and she has a band that she toured all over the world and she has a show she does with her husband, so I can’t imagine there would be time. It would be a dream come true for me to have her there and act together again…I saw her in New York — she and her husband did an off-Broadway play and they were incredible. Seeing her in person for the first time in years really was amazing. We’re all always checking in on each other and know what’s going on with each other,” Debra said.

  • Melissa Joan Hart: ‘Sabrina the Teenage Witch’ Star to Guest Star on ‘Mysteries of Laura’

Melissa Joan Hart of Sabrina the Teenage Witch fame will soon pop up on a Wednesday night on NBC. The former Nickelodeon star will guest star on an upcoming episode of Debra Messing’s sitcom, The Mysteries of Laura.

Entertainment Weekly reports that Melissa Joan Hart will play the role of an online radio host named KC Moss. KC runs a Serial-esque program that gets in the way of Detective Laura Diamond’s (played by Debra Messing) investigation of a 15-year-old cold case. The character Hart will play is based on Sarah Koenig, the host of the wildly popular Serial podcast.

On Thursday, Hart shared a photo of herself with Debra Messing. In the photo, Melissa Joan Hart sports a shiner.

“Working with this fantastic woman! @therealdebramessing (And no she didn’t give me the shiner) #MysteriesOfLaura #bts,” Hart captions the shot.

Prior to sharing her photo with Debra Messing, Melissa Joan Hart shared this photo, along with a hint for her fans.

“Another hint about the show I’m guest starring on. Any ideas? #MysteriesOfLaura,” she captioned this one.

Melissa Joan Hart currently stars along with Joey Lawrence in Melissa & Joey. The finale for their show wrapped filming in February, however, so this gig on The Mysteries of Laura came about at the perfect time.

Are you a fan of The Mysteries of Laura? Will you be tuning in when Melissa Joan Hart makes her guest appearance on the show?

In addition to Debra Messing, The Mysteries of Laura stars Josh Lucas, Laz Alonso, Janina Gavankar, Max Jenkins, and Alysia Joy Powell.

  • Sophia Bush: ‘Chicago PD’ Star Calls Mariska Hargitay ‘Badass’

Sophia Bush: ‘Chicago PD’ Star Calls Mariska Hargitay ‘Badass’

Sophia Bush of Chicago PD fame has worked on screen with Law & Order: SVU star Mariska Hargitay in crossover episodes of their respective shows before, but it was during NBC Universal’s 2015 Winter TCA Tour last week that the two met up again.

NBC advertises both Sophia Bush and Mariska Hargitay’s shows–along with The Mysteries of Laura, starring Debra Messing–as ‘woman crush Wednesdays,’ and it’s easy to see why. Each of the three cop shows features a good-looking, really sharp woman at its helm.

The Chicago PD star paid the Law & Order: SVU star quite the compliment while they were together in L.A. last week, however. She referred to Mariska Hargitay (Olivia Benson on the show) as a ‘badass.’ She shared the comment as the caption of an Instagram post.

“#fbf working with my idol @therealmariskahargitay who is now my friend (whaaaat?!) for the first time on @NBCSVU,” Sophia captioned, adding, “She’s the epitome of a badass. An example. And a courageous heart. #ilovemyjob #gratitude #pinchme #badbitches.”

A photo posted by Sophia Bush (@sophiabush) on

Sophia Bush is pretty ‘badass’ herself. In her role as Detective Erin Lindsay, she recently transferred from the Chicago Police Department to the FBI. However–and this is a spoiler alert–on Wednesday night’s episode she banged on her father figure, mentor, and former boss Hank Voight’s back door late and night, and asked for her job back.

Fans didn’t expect–or at least they didn’t hope–that Erin Lindsay would stay away from her old stomping grounds for long.

Are you a Chicago PD and/or a Law & Order: SVU fan? Which of these two female detectives–Sophia Bush or Mariska Hargitay–would you call the most ‘badass?’

  • Debra Messing Excited for ‘Will & Grace’ Reunion

Debra Messing excitedly announced via Twitter on Tuesday that a Will & Grace reunion of sorts will take place on her new show, The Mysteries of Laura. Messing starred opposite Eric McCormack in Will & Grace for eight years. McCormack’s upcoming guest appearance on The Mysteries of Laura will mark the first time the two have worked together since the end of Will & Grace–back in 2006.

Messing stars as Detective Laura Diamond in the new series. Her character is a homicide detective with the NYPD. She faces a slew of additional challenges in her personal life since her ex-husband (played by Josh Lucas) is now her boss on the police force, and she must balance work along with raising their young twin sons.

Deadline reports that Eric McCormack will appear on The Mysteries of Laura in the role of Dr. Andrew Devlin–a heart surgeon who is suspected of homicide following the death of his ex-wife. To add fuel to the proverbial fire, Devlin and Diamond were once engaged. Deadline adds that “sparks will fly.”

Debra Messing retweeted the exciting news after Eric McCormack first shared it on Twitter.

Messing also retweeted the excitement of some of her–and McCormack’s–fans.

It hasn’t yet been announced when the episode featuring the sort-of Will & Grace reunion will air on The Mysteries of Laura, but it’s sure to lure lots of the old show’s fans.

    Will you be among them?

  • Savannah Guthrie Returns to ‘Today’ after 3-Month Maternity Leave Looking Fabulous

Savannah Guthrie returned to the Today show Monday after a three month maternity leave and she looks great.

The 42-year-old mother returned 12 weeks after she and husband Mike Feldman welcomed their little baby girl, Vale.

“It’s so great to be back here, just to see everybody and all of our friends here behind the scenes,” said Guthrie. “I’m used to that three a.m. alarm, but it sounds more like a baby crying.”

Guthrie indulged fans and co-hosts alike with some home videos she and Feldman shot of their little family.

The adorable montage shows all of the big moments of the past few months, including an emotional Guthrie heading to the hospital to give birth and the couple holding their baby for the first time.

“When I lay my eyes on her, I’m just like ‘There you are!’” Guthrie gushed.

The clips of the the baby, who apparently “looks a lot like Mike,” include every little new parent faux-pas.

“They don’t send you home with a little manual on what to do” said Guthrie before the video shows the couple trying to install their daughter’s car seat.

“This first month or so I really checked out. It just felt really important for to focus on her and family,” said Guthrie.

Like every mother before her, Guthrie‘s first morning back to work was “bittersweet.” Having to leave her little one at home for the first time was hard because the time she has shared with Vale was “so precious and magical.”

“I definitely don’t want to paint a completely rosy picture. It’s hard. You get very, very exhausted. I’m terrified to come back to a job where I have to speak for a living because I honestly have a really hard time right now putting basic sentences together,” she said before adding “Matt [Lauer] will be so gracious about that.”

The final tear-invoking moment of the video shows Guthrie waking up her daughter before her first day back, whispering into her precious girl’s ear, “I’m going to work.”

It was a sweet return for the new mom, with well-wishes coming from a slew of celebrities, including Josh Lucas, Debra Messing, Keri Russell, Rita Wilson, Glenn Close, Russell Brand, Seth Rogen, Jill Martin, Minnie Driver, Lady Antebellum, Chelsea Handler, Emmy Rossum, Clive Davis and B.J. Novak.

  • Debra Messing: No Go in ‘Mysteries of Laura?’

Debra Messing: No Go in ‘Mysteries of Laura?’

Debra Messing is set to star in a new NBC series called The Mysteries of Laura, and the L.A. Times doesn’t seem to think she’s up to speed. A recent report reminds viewers of last year’s most significant NBC offering–The Blacklist, starring James Spader–and the bullseye the network hit with that show. They are comparing Messing and The Mysteries of Laura to ‘grazing the white part around the edge of the target.’

Fans last saw Debra Messing in Smash, and of course everyone loved her in Will & Grace. So what’s not to love about Laura Diamond in The Mysteries of Laura? It seems she’s simply not convincible as a homicide detective.

“It certainly doesn’t help that the show opens with her in hot pursuit of some gun-wielding thug as he races through a very crowded Battery Park. Wearing a raincoat that she will then cling to throughout the episode as if it had been bequeathed to her by Mr. Peter Falk, she mutters “humorous” asides like “why are all these people in the park? Don’t they have jobs?” before pulling a gun and aiming it at said thug, who grabs a hostage. Then she fires Right At Their Heads,” the L.A. Times reports.

It seems The Mysteries of Laura isn’t a sitcom, but Debra Messing is playing Laura Diamond as if it might be. The funny thing is, NBC is playing her character as though she is on par with Law & Order: SVU’s Mariska Hargitay and Chicago P.D.’s Sophia Bush. Have you seen that ad? Even with the little that viewers have seen thus far of The Mysteries of Laura thus far, the notion simply doesn’t gel.

Are you a Debra Messing fan? Will you be checking out The Mysteries of Laura when it premieres tonight–Wednesday, September 17th on NBC at 10:00 PM? It will be interesting to learn what Thursday’s take will be on the new show.

Hopefully NBC hasn’t banked on this to be this years The Black List.

  • Debra Messing To Star In “The Mysteries Of Laura”

Debra Messing may have finally come across a show that could match the success she found on Will & Grace.

The comedy/drama, which will air on NBC, stars Debra Messing as a successful homicide detective who has to balance her encompassing work with raising twin five-year-old boys as a single mother.

Apparently the drama part of this unusual hybrid is right up Debra Messing‘s alley.

“I have been an avid watcher of what was CourtTV and is now TruTV; live trials because I am fascinated by the judicial system. I am amazed by how extreme human nature can present itself. Life is more than interesting than art most of the time. In my downtime, I watch 48 Hours and Dateline and everything has to do with murder,” she said.

“I know there’s something I should explore about that with my therapist.”

The comedy aspect of The Mysteries of Laura follows Debra Messing’s Laura as she raises her boys, which as a working mother, she can totally relate to.

“There is something incredibly universal about the predicament and the thing that interested me was the specificity of her personal life and the specificity of the job she had to have,” Messing said. “I never felt like we were creating a new wheel in terms of … a woman can work and be a mother at the same time. If anything, the balance of the tone of the drama and the comedy that is going to be the newest adventure and the newest challenge because that we haven’t seen on network TV before.”

There is definitely something universal about how mothers who work can find the time to balance it all! Debra Messing knows that most of us are still trying to figure it all out, and are looking for a little comedic comiseration on screen.

Good luck to Debra Messing in her new show, The Mysteries of Laura! It will begin its run on Wednesday, Sept. 24th at 8/7c on NBC.

  • Debra Messing to Star in NBC’s ‘The Mysteries of Laura’

Debra Messing will star in NBC’s new detective comedy-drama hybrid series The Mysteries of Laura this coming fall.

Messing plays Detective Laura Diamond, a NYPD homicide detective and single mother of twin boys.

The series is scheduled to premiere Wednesday, September 24.

Messing will star alongside Josh Lucas, who is known for The Lincoln Lawyer and Sweet Home Alabama.

McG (Chuck, The O.C., Supernatural,) Aaron Kaplan (Made of Honor, You, Me, & Dupree,) and Greg Berlanti (Arrow, Brothers & Sisters, Eli Stone) are among the executive producers.

Messing spoke about what she calls the “dramedy” on Sunday at NBC’s Television Critics Association summer press tour.

“When I read the script it didn’t feel to me that this a new standard [or] an extreme case,” she said. “I responded to something incredibly universal about the predicament.”

Messing predicted that “it is the balance of the tone of drama and the comedy that is going to be the newest adventure and the newest challenge. That we haven’t seen on network TV before.”

“I didn’t have to choose. Do I want to do a comedy? Or do I want to do a drama? It’s both,” she said.

Messing rose to fame on NBC’s hit sitcom Will & Grace which ran for eight seasons from 1998 to 2006.

Since then, she has starred in the television miniseries The Starter Wife for which she received an Emmy nomination for Outstanding Lead Actress in a Miniseries or Movie. Messing went on to star in the short-lived television series of the same name.

In 2012 and 2013 Messing starred alongside Jack Davenport (Pirates of the Caribbean, The Talented Mr. Ripley) and Katharine McPhee (The House Bunny, You May Not Kiss the Bride) in NBC’s musical Smash. The series was canceled after two seasons.

  • Debra Messing and Eric McCormack Reunite

Will Truman and Grace Adler came into our living rooms every Thursday night for eight years as the principal characters of the wildly popular must-see sitcom “Will & Grace” which was on the air from 1998 – 2006. They weren’t a couple, as Will was gay and Grace was straight, but they had a love affair for the ages – best friends, confidants and platonic lifetime companions.

Today the internet is abuzz with speculation that a “Will & Grace” movie could potentially be in the works after Debra Messing and Eric McCormack were photographed on the red carpet hugging and mugging for the camera during an event that honored their former “Will & Grace” director and producer James Burrows.

    See yourself:
    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HXwPuCgILTY&feature=player_detailpage

Apparently the idea for a “Will & Grace” movie has come up in the past. During an interview with “Huffington Post” last March, Messing responded, “never say never” when asked about a big screen possibility. She went on to say that, “I would hope that all the characters had found some love at some point, but you know, it’s a comedy. So happiness does not equal laughter most of the time on TV.”

Messing took to Twitter to describe her joyous reunion with McCormack.

During its eight season run, “Will & Grace” was one of the most successful shows on television. In fact, it was the first television show to ever feature a gay leading character. The sitcom would go on to win 16 Emmy Awards and garner 83 total nominations. In 2003, Messing took home the Emmy for Outstanding Lead Actress in a Comedy, cementing her place in television history.

  • Debra Messing, Maria Menounos Pose In The Buff For Magazine

Red-headed hottie Debra Messing apparently isn’t shy about showing off her figure, and if I looked like her I doubt I would be, either.

The 43-year old “Will & Grace” and “Smash” actress appears nude in an upcoming issue of Allure Magazine, giving a teasing glimpse of her naked backside as she lounges on a soft white bed wearing nothing but her shadow and a coy smile. Sporting glowing skin and dark, kohl-rimmed eyes, she joins “Dancing With The Stars” contestant Maria Menounos in a black-and-white pictorial shot by photographer Patrick Demarcheller.

“Once you have a child, once you pass 40, you have a different relationship with your body,” Messing said. “I love my body in a way I never have before.”

    (image)

Menounos has never been one to hide her assets, stripping down to a bikini in Times Square earlier this year after losing a Super Bowl bet.

The issue’s cover girl, Heidi Klum, also appears in the shoot, baring a statuesque, toned body that surely doesn’t look like it’s borne four children. She talks briefly about her recent split with husband and singer Seal, saying she’s not ruling out a reconciliation.

“Time will tell,” she says. “I’m still in the eye of the storm now, and its all a little bit crazy. But sometimes you have to be apart in order to figure it out.”
