  • Alan Rickman: Celebrities Pay Tribute to Late Actor

Alan Rickman passed away last week from pancreatic cancer. Since his passing, a wealth of celebrities–many of whom were his fellow actors–have paid tribute to him via social media.

Best known for his role in the Harry Potter films, Alan Rickman played countless roles throughout his many years as an actor. His death stunned nearly everyone who knew or even knew of him.

Daniel Radcliffe posted the following tribute to Alan Rickman on his Google Plus page.

“Alan Rickman is undoubtedly one of the greatest actors I will ever work with. He is also, one of the loyalest and most supportive people I’ve ever met in the film industry. He was so encouraging of me both on set and in the years post-Potter. I’m pretty sure he came and saw everything I ever did on stage both in London and New York. He didn’t have to do that. I know other people who’ve been friends with him for much much longer than I have and they all say “if you call Alan, it doesn’t matter where in the world he is or how busy he is with what he’s doing, he’ll get back to you within a day”.

“People create perceptions of actors based on the parts they played so it might surprise some people to learn that contrary to some of the sterner(or downright scary) characters he played, Alan was extremely kind, generous, self-deprecating and funny. And certain things obviously became even funnier when delivered in his unmistakable double-bass.

“As an actor he was one of the first of the adults on Potter to treat me like a peer rather than a child. Working with him at such a formative age was incredibly important and I will carry the lessons he taught me for the rest of my life and career. Film sets and theatre stages are all far poorer for the loss of this great actor and man.”

Emma Watson posted her Alan Rickman tribute to her Facebook page.

I'm very sad to hear about Alan today. I feel so lucky to have worked and spent time with such a special man and actor. I'll really miss our conversations. RIP Alan. We love you

Alan Rickman’s death made the Oscar nominations pale in comparison for Jamie Lee Curtis.

Author Stephen King was stunned by Alan Rickman’s death, too.

One can only hope that all these people sharing their sentiments in light of Alan Rickman’s passing, shared their love with the actor while he was alive.

Perhaps his death can serve as a message for all to do just that.

  • Emma Watson Accused Of Exploiting Alan Rickman’s Death By Posting ‘Feminist’ Quote By The Late ‘Harry Potter’ Star

Emma Watson has been bashed on the internet for exploiting the death of Harry Potter co-star Alan Rickman and pushing her own ‘feminist agenda’ by posting a quote by the late actor to social media.

In the wake of the shocking news that Rickman had died, the 25-year-old actress took to social media to remember her former co-star with a post that featured Rickman’s image overlaid with a quote that expressed his strongly-held feminist beliefs.

“There is nothing wrong with a man being a feminist, I think it is to our mutual advantage,” said Rickman — who portrayed the misunderstood Severus Snape in the film version of the Harry Potter series — in March 2015.

Twitter trolls didn’t take to kindly to her post and began to pick on the actress who portrayed Hermione Granger.

“Wow, you’re using the death of your friend to push your agenda. That’s actually horrible,” tweeted one disgruntled fan.

One post called Watson’s tribute, “tacky, classless, tactless, disgusting behaviour”.

Of course, the trolls failed to notice that Emma Watson posted this one feminist tweet along with several others that included quotes from Rickman.

Watson, a Goodwill Ambassador for UN Women and advocate for the HeForShe campaign that promotes gender equality, is continually under the gun for her staunch support of feminist advocacy.

Many other fans came out in support of Emma Watson following the backlash.

“He was a feminist, and those were his words, she is just paying tribute, nothing wrong with it,” one wrote.

“Love the @EmWatson tribute to Alan Rickman. She respectfully paid homage to his humanitarian character and feminist ideals they shared,” another commented.

  • Daniel Radcliffe: Alan Rickman “One of the Greatest Actors I’ll Ever Work With”

Daniel Radcliffe has penned a touching tribute to his late co-star and friend, Alan Rickman.

Radcliffe knew Rickman intimately, of course, making eight Harry Potter films with the well-respected actor.

In a post, Radcliffe calls Rickman one of the greatest actors he will ever work with.

He didn’t have to do that,” he writes in a Google+ post.

“People create perceptions of actors based on the parts they played so it might surprise some people to learn that contrary to some of the sterner(or downright scary) characters he played, Alan was extremely kind, generous, self-deprecating and funny. And certain things obviously became even funnier when delivered in his unmistakable double-bass,” Radcliffe says.

Radcliffe says that Rickman was one of the first actors on the Harry Potter set to treat him as a peer, not a child.

Rickman passed away on Thursday at the age of 69 after a long battle with cancer.

By all accounts, Rickman was a joy both on and off set. He will be sorely missed.

  • Emma Thompson on Her Dear Friend Alan Rickman

The world lost one of its best actors on Thursday when Alan Rickman passed away at the age of 69.

Tributes have been pouring out from those who knew him, worked with him, and loved him. Emma Thompson did all three, and she has penned a touching tribute to the late actor.

In it, she calls him the “ultimate ally” and says she learned a lot from him.

“Alan was my friend and so this is hard to write because I have just kissed him goodbye. What I remember most in this moment of painful leave-taking is his humor, intelligence, wisdom and kindness. His capacity to fell you with a look or lift you with a word. The intransigence which made him the great artist he was — his ineffable and cynical wit, the clarity with which he saw most things, including me, and the fact that he never spared me the view. I learned a lot from him,” Thompson said in a statement.

“He was the finest of actors and directors I couldn’t wait to see what he was going to do with his face next. I consider myself hugely privileged to have worked with him so many times and to have been directed by him. He was the ultimate ally. In life, art and politics. I trusted him absolutely. He was, above all things, a rare and unique human being and we shall not see his like again.”

Thompson and Rickman appeared in many films together, including Love Actually, Sense and Sensibility, and of course, the Harry Potter films.

The world will truly miss Alan Rickman.
