Stolen Plane DUI: Man Steals Plane, Flies it Drunk

This guy is nuts.

Paul Michael Waddle was arrested Sunday for allegedly stealing a plane from Boulder City Municipal Airport and going on a wild drunken ride Sunday night.

He is charged with DUI/aircraft, unlawful taking of a motor vehicle/aircraft and obstructing a police officer.

Yea, the guy is insane.

Waddle told police he was flying in order to “complete the takeoff and landing portion of his pilot’s license.”

According to an arrest report, police were called to the Boulder City airport before 11:30 p.m. Sunday after being called to the airport after Waddle took the white Cessna Caravan, owned by Scenic Airlines.

When police arrived at the airport, the plane landed and took off at least two times. The report said the place was being operated recklessly.

“In the 20-plus years I’ve been here, it’s the first time we’ve done a felony stop on an airplane,” said Boulder City Police Sgt. John Glenn.

The report said officers ordered Waddle out of the plane continually ignored the orders. Finally, Waddle had to be tackled to the ground after he pulled out an an object that turned out to be a radio.

“He kept reaching for his waistband. The officers decided to go hands-on with him. They were close enough to do that. They took him to the ground, placed him in handcuffs,” Glenn said.

Police said Waddle was clearly intoxicated and smelled of alcohol so they gave him a breath test. He blew a 0.132.

Waddle was taken to Boulder City Hospital after suffering several injuries in the altercation.

Following treatment, Waddle was taken to Clark County Detention Center in Las Vegas for booking.

“I don’t know if he was in a flight school. He wasn’t associated with a flight school with us. We don’t have one here,” Glenn said.

Nuts. Crazy. Muy loco.
