Some very fortunate Skyrim fans may have already opened their email and found a present last night, but if you’ve yet to find a key in your inbox – there’s still a chance that it might arrive this morning (a very small chance).
That’s because Bethesda has announced that they have deployed the beta keys for the upcoming Skyrim DLC, Dawnguard. Apparently, so many people signed up for the beta at the beginning of the month that they were only able to give out codes to “.005 of the applicants.”
From the Bethesda Blog:
Lucky fans began receiving emails tonight from “The Elder Scrolls”, and we’ll be done completing the deployment tomorrow. Within the email, users will receive an Xbox LIVE redemption code, as well as details on how to participate in our private feedback forum.
Bethesda announced the public beta on June 1st, and stated that it will be the full version that will eventually go out as DLC (achievements and all). Of course, any kinks will hopefully be worked out by that time. The beta is only available for Xbox 360 owners.
Apparently, this is only the beginning of the private betas, as Bethesda’s production director Ashely Cheng recently told G4 that “any future DLC we do have, there’s going to be a private beta.”
Happy vampire-hunting to the lucky ones.
