Shailene Woodley Speaks Out Against “Cheeky” Tagline

In more Controversial for the Sake of Marketing Success news (no, not another Miley article), an upcoming movie entitled The Fault in our Stars has just released a beautiful poster for a likely tear-jerker involving two teens with cancer falling in love.

Unfortunately, their catchy tagline “One Sick Love Story” has surely caught the public’s attention– and all of it is definitely not positive.

While co-star Ansel Elgort simply dismissed it as “cheeky,” according to Entertainment Weekly, Shailene Woodley had a strong response to it. About its “cheekiness” she responded, “It’s definitely — it’s not a tagline that I probably would have chosen by any means…For me, it was — yeah, not something I would have chosen. But it seems like half the people love it and half the people don’t like it.”

Maybe Woodley has a bit more of an awareness about human sensitivities and ailments– her mother is a middle school counselor, and at 15 Shailene herself was diagnosed with scoliosis and had to wear a plastic brace over the majority of her body for a while.

Still, it doesn’t look as if the marketing team will change the tagline, but at least Shailene Woodley stood up for her personal opinion about it.

What do you think? Is the tagline “One Sick Love Story” a bit too much for a story about a very real concern for all of us? Let us know.
