Shailene Woodley Signs on to Nicole Kidman’s HBO Drama, “Big Little Lies”

Shailene Woodley is headed back to the small screen in a new HBO drama starring Nicole Kidman. Kidman announced this weekend that the deal to sign Shailene Woodley on to Big Little Lies is nearly finalized and will likely close some time next week.

The Divergent star will play the role of Jane, a single mom. She is one of three actors to play opposite Nicole Kidman and her A-list costar Reese Witherspoon.

Big Little Lies is based on the novel of the same name by Liane Moriarty. HBO landed the project this spring, beating out Netflix in a bidding war for the rights.

Shailene Woodley last appeared on TV in ABC Family’s The Secret Life of the American Teenager, in which she starred for five seasons.

Big Little Lies is the biggest TV role Nicole Kidman, Reese Witherspoon, and Shailene Woodley will have played.

In addition to the Divergent series of films, Shailene Woodley is also well-known for her role in The Fault in Our Stars.

It’s uncertain when production for Big Little Lies will begin.
