Shailene Woodley, Theo James, Ansel Elgort, Maggie Q, and Miles Teller star in Allegiant, which premieres nationwide on Friday, and so far they’re receiving a less-than-stellar view.

In this film, Tris (played by Shailene Woodley) must sneak away with Thor (played by Theo James), and go beyond the wall that encloses all of Chicago. This will mark the first time the two have left the city and the only family they have ever had. Once outside of Chicago, Tris and Thor must decide who they can and cannot trust, as a battle erupts and threatens to wipe out all mankind.
Us Weekly writes that the third film in the Divergent series “is a disaster in every sense of the word.”

They go on, calling it “plodding, ludicrous and, at times, undecipherable.”
The publication writes that Shailene Woodley, “still lacks the acting gravitas to lead a revolution. It doesn’t matter that she chopped the ponytail and added highlights to her hair; she’s just not credible in the role. Her Tris has gone from kick-ass heroine to gullible bore, and her ability to suddenly develop the skills to pilot a state-of-the-art aircraft late in the game is laughable.”
The review states that even newbies won’t get into Allegiant, and that the franchise’s biggest fans will consider it only half as good as the prior films.
Are you planning to take in Allegiant when it premieres it theaters this weekend? Hopefully you’re not counting on seeing Shailene Woodley’s best performance.

If you can believe what Us Weekly has written about the film, it might be best to wait until this one comes out on DVD.
