Selena Quintanilla Will Be Honored by M.A.C. With Posthumous Makeup Collection

Selena Quintanilla was murdered 20 years ago. The Tejano singer will soon be honored by the cosmetic company M.A.C. They have created a new makeup collection made up of several products, all touting her name.

“Selena’s talent and beauty, inside and out, have left a colorful, meaningful impact in the world that has continued to grow over the last two decades,” M.A.C creative director James Gager said in a recent interview. “We have heard the passion and enthusiasm from her fans and wholeheartedly agree that her legacy embodies M.A.C’s philosophy. We are so excited to announce a Selena-inspired M.A.C collection debuting in the latter part of 2016.”

Selena Quintanilla’s sister, Suzette Quintanilla, said the late singer always wanted to launch her own line of cosmetics.

“I am so excited that M.A.C Cosmetics will be releasing a collection in honor of my sister Selena,” Suzette said. “Helping to create this collection brings me back to all those late-night conversations on our tour bus when she spoke of having her own makeup line one day. If Selena were here she would be beyond ecstatic to have this happening. History is being made.”

Selena Quintanilla was gunned down back on March 31, 1995 by her fan club president Yolanda Saldivar. Her family has long been intent on keeping her memory and her music alive.

A new generation of music fans will soon be introduced to Selena Quintanilla’s music via a hologram.

“By no means is this something that’s creepy or weird,” Suzette Quintanilla said in an interview with Billboard earlier this year. “We think it’s something amazing. A lot of the new fans that did not get to experience what Selena was about hopefully will be able to get a sense of her with this new technology that’s going to be coming out.”

The cosmetic line by M.A.C. honoring Selena Quintanilla will likely be a huge hit with Latinas, as well as young women of many ethnicities. The line was inspired by a Change.org petition started by Selena Quintanilla’s fans.
