Robin Thicke and Kendrick Lamar Pre-Super Bowl Bound

Robin Thicke and Kendrick Lamar are Super Bowl bound next month. Well, they’re not really going to the Super Bowl, but they’re the headlining act for ESPN’s Pre-Super Bowl Party–and that’s a big deal, too. Lamar is featured on Robin Thicke’s late summer hit Give It to U, and has since received a Grammy Award nomination for his work.

The prestigious pre-game party takes place in New York City on Friday night January 31st at the Lower Manhattan’s Pier 36/Basketball City–just a few miles away from MetLife Stadium, where the Super Bowl will be played. Since this year’s game signifies the first time the Super Bowl has been played in NYC, the theme for the party is a ‘New York State of Mind.’ ESPN says there will be skyscrapers and a starry skyline decorating the facility in honor of the pre-game fun.

Robin Thicke is best known for his mega-hit single Blurred Lines, during which Miley Cyrus made her infamous twerking debut at the MTV Video Music Awards back in August–replete with a foam finger and little to no clothing.

Fortunately there’s been no word of Miley Cyrus attending the ESPN Pre-Super Bowl Party, so even if Robin and Kendrick pull off a slightly below PG-rated performance that evening, it won’t go all the way down hill to distastefully raunchy.

Kendrick Lamar will do double pre-Super Bowl duty. He is headlining the second night of Maxim’s pre-Super Bowl party celebration at Espace in Manhattan the night before the Super Bowl.

For some people these pre-Super Bowl parties are as much–if not more–fun than the actual game day itself. It allows a select few to get a sneak peek at some up close and personal aspects of the Super Bowl that game day doesn’t afford. And unfortunately game day isn’t affordable to many–with tickets selling on the secondary market in the thousands of dollars. For that kind of dough, lots of fans would probably rather save their money and watch the game at home or on the big screen at their local pub.

Where do you suppose Robin Thicke and Kendrick Lamar will be come game day?
