Richard Gere Taught Cindy Crawford “How To Be Famous”

Richard Gere and Cindy Crawford weren’t married too many years, but their relationship had millions of people fascinated, in part because of their age difference but also because they were two beautiful famous people who found each other. Now, Crawford has written a memoir, and she says she’s still not ready to talk about their time together.

Crawford’s book, Becoming, talks about her life and the things she’s learned from her time as a supermodel and mom, but she didn’t want to go into detail about the four years she was married to Gere. As she put it, her goal was to be respectful.

“It’s not something I want to share. If I felt that there was a great good that could come of it, I might have shared more, but I didn’t think that there was anything for other people to learn or benefit from. And I wanted to be respectful,” Cindy told Porter. “Look, I learned a lot from Richard. I learned about how to be famous. Again, that’s not a universal lesson. And a lot of the personal things, everything else I learned from that, were for me.”

As for Richard Gere, he’s still acting and shares multiple wins of People’s “Sexiest Man Alive” with just a few other celebs, but that’s been far from his mind lately. The 66-year old thespian’s latest project is Time Out Of Mind,he plays a homeless man in Manhattan. For him, the role took any shred of vanity away and replaced it with basic elements.

“The city’s always in motion. People come to New York because they’ve got something to do. They got a job. They got a career choice. They’re moving from here to there. They’re taking this job for now because they’re moving up. And they got plans…Time, the whole idea of time, is very much part of our usual structure of how we see the world. For George, there is no time. There is ‘I’m hungry; and I’m tired, I wanna sleep.’ That’s about it. It’s very elemental,” Richard Gere said.
