Rhonda Adkins Leaves Husband Trace

Rhonda Adkins is leaving her country crooner husband Trace after 16 years of marriage.

According to documents filed in a Williamson, Tenn. court, Mrs. Adkins cited “irreconcilable differences” as the reason for the breakup. The documents also state she is seeking full custody of the couple’s three daughters: MacKenzie, Brianna, and Trinity, ages 16, 12, and 9, and is requesting child support. She is also asking to be placed as the sole beneficiary of the star’s life insurance policy. Adkins has two other daughters from a previous marriage.

Although it is unclear as to precisely what led the couple to its demise, one can’t help but wonder if it has to do with the singer’s trouble with substance abuse.

Just two months ago, the “Honky Tonk Badonkadonk” singer checked himself into rehab, following an alleged drunken brawl with a celebrity impersonator on the cruise ship Norwegian Pearl. He ended his treatment in February to spend time with his ailing father Aaron, who recently died at age 71.

Adkins had been sober for the past 12 years after spending time in a rehabilitation facility in 2002.

This isn’t the first celebrity break up news to develop this week. Just a few days ago, actress Gwyneth Paltrow and Coldplay frontman Chris Martin announced their split, after over a decade of marriage.

The couple broke the news on Paltrow’s website goop.com in a post entitled “Conscious Uncoupling.” In what could be one of the greatest PR moves of all time, the conscious uncoupling process by which they attribute to helping them get through this time has gained just as much attention, if not more, than the pair’s announcement, taking some of the heat off of them.

Paltrow and Martin also have children together, Apple and Moses.
