Quentin Tarantino’s Teaser Trailer Leaked Online

Quentin Tarantino can’t keep anything private. A teaser for the director’s film The Hateful Eight has been leaked online.

The teaser was linked with the film Sin City 2: A Dame to Kill For, which is opening in theaters this weekend. It appears as if a person in the audience taped the teaser and uploaded it on YouTube. IMDB.com’s tagline for the film, “In post-Civil War Wyoming, bounty hunters try to find shelter during a blizzard but get involved in a plot of betrayal and deception.”

The highly-anticipated Western has not even been shot yet. Tarantino released the title of the film in January with plans to go into production this summer. However, the auteur director got upset when the script for the film was leaked online and became available on Gawker. Tarantino was so miffed in fact that he threatened to never film the movie.

Additionally, Tarantino filed a lawsuit against Gawker Media for copyright infringement and contributory copyright infringement because the site linked to his 146 page script. Tarantino said in the lawsuit, “This time, they went too far. Rather than merely publishing a news story reporting that Plaintiff’s screenplay may have been circulating in Hollywood without his permission, Gawker Media crossed the journalistic line by promoting itself to the public as the first source to read the entire Screenplay illegally.”

The Pulp Fiction director eventually calmed down after the script leaked and held a live read with some of his favorite actors: Samuel L. Jackson, Bruce Dern, Michael Madsen, Tim Roth, Walton Goggins, James Parks, Amber Tamblyn, and Kurt Russell. Each actor read for one of the titular roles in the film. After the read, Tarantino decided to go ahead with the project, looking to start production in early 2015.

So, the trailer that you can see below features no actual footage from the film. However, it definitely sets the mood and heightens anticipation. Audiences know that the film will be a winter Western, and in true Tarantino form, it will be bloody with a sense of style.
