Olsen Twins: Mary-Kate and Ashley Olsen Not Returning to TV for ‘Full House’ Reboot, John Stamos Not Happy

The Olsen twins won’t reprise their role as Michelle Tanner in the upcoming Full House reboot.

“Although Ashley and Mary-Kate will not be a part of Fuller House, I know how much Full House has meant to them and they are still very much considered family,” executive producer Robert L. Boyett said in a statement to the Hollywood Reporter. “It has been exciting to see how they have built their professional careers, and I support their choice to focus on their fashion brands and various business endeavors. I appreciate their support and good wishes toward Fuller House.”

Does this surprise anyone? If so, it shouldn’t. The Olsen twins have been noticeably absent for everything akin to a Full House reunion the cast members have held or attended for years.

And then, of course, there was that comment made when Netflix and John Stamos officially announced the inception of Fuller House, saying the Olsen twins were unaware of the reboot.

“We just found out about it today,” Mary-Kate Olsen said the day after John Stamos confirmed rumors of the spinoff were true. “I guess we’re going to talk to the creators and see what’s happening.”

John Stamos was quick to respond to her comment, and he cried ‘bullsh*t!’

Stamos–who will both produce and guest star on Fuller House–made amends with the Olsen twins shortly thereafter, however. He had a conversation with Mary-Kate Olsen and apparently decided to let sleeping dogs lie.

Since receiving the final word from the Olsen twins about appear on Fuller House, John Stamos is said to be ‘heartbroken.’

And given a statement he posted on Facebook, John Stamos seems a bit irate with the Olsen twins, too.

Just so you reporters know – this is not a money gig for any of us- quite the opposite – we want to give the fans what…

Surely no one is surprised the Olsen twins aren’t returning to appear in Fuller House. Fans can look forward to Candace Cameron Bure, however, who will reprise her role as D.J. Tanner. Jodie Sweetin will be back as Stephanie Tanner, too, as will Andrea Barber as Kimmy Gibbler. Along with John Stamos as Uncle Jesse, Dave Coulier, Lori Loughlin, Bob Saget, and more will reprise their roles on a guest starring basis.
