Miranda Lambert Ignites Social Media Firestorm Over Fur Coat She Received For Christmas

Miranda Lambert has ignited a social media firestorm after showing off a real fur coat that she received as a present from her grandmother.

“I’m so fancy… You already know,” Lambert captioned a photo she posted to Instagram Saturday, quoting Iggy Azalea’s hit song Fancy. “My Nonny gave me two of her fur coats! I definitely know where I got my love for DIAMONDS, FUR and WHISKEY! #familytradition #grandmatreasures #besthandmedownever #wandathewanderer #bringitwinter.”

In the photo, the 32-year-old country singer looks all aglow and snuggly in her floor-length fur, black boots and a beige beanie.

Lambert’s excitement over her new coat was quickly doused when comments began to blast Blake Shelton’s ex-wife for her choice to don fur.

“Sorry, I love you dearly, but I don’t agree with this,” one commenter wrote. “I don’t agree with animals dying for coats.”

Quipped another user wrote, “Not cool for animal lover Miranda.”

Lambert didn’t seemed phased by the criticism and instead seemingly defended her choice of accepting the family heirloom with another photo. In the second post, the Little Red Wagon singer shared another picture of herself with her grandma showing off the lining of the coat, which features her grandmother’s name, Wanda Coker.

“Her name embroidered inside is priceless,” she captioned the second post. “A family heirloom I will cherish forever. I’m so thankful for her and all the things I have learned from her. Nonny is strong, beautiful, feisty and most of all, loving. #grandmatreasures #diamondsfurandwhiskey #wandathewanderer.”

Despite the backlash, there were some that supported Miranda Lambert and her decision to flaunt her fur.

“I never comment on celebrity profiles but this time I had to@mirandalambert,” a supportive Miranda fan wrote in the comments. “Don’t mind all the negativity. It’s very nice and more importantly it’s a heirloom, what a valuable piece of family history. I hope one day your daughter enjoys it as much as you do.”

Another user agreed.

“OMG! It’s a free country to like what you want, stop posting your oppinions [sic] on someones eleses [sic] page! It’ no ones business! If you don’t like it, don’t look and it is Beautiful by the way!!!”
