Mel Gibson Battery Charge To Be Erased

A deal is a deal. Back in the mid-to-late 2000s, Mel Gbson’s career took hit after hit, and not the good kind. In 2006, he was arrested for drunk driving, Gibson was recorded making a rash of anti-Semitic remarks then. That did not go over well in Hollywood. And, in the ensuing fracas, Gibson and Robyn, his wife of 26 years, divorced.

By 2010, Gibson was back in the swing with Oksana Grigorieva, a Russian musician with whom he has a daughter. But Gibson fouled up again, this time in an argument with Grigorieva during which he used racial slurs and allegedly slapped her in the mouth.

“You look like a f**king pig in heat and if you get raped by a pack of ni**ers it will be your fault.”

Grigorieva obtained a restraining order against Gibson.

Gibson was charged with battery, and pleaded no contest to the charge. Gibson had as much as admitted to the occurrence when, in a custody hearing, he said, “I slapped Oksana one time with an open hand in an attempt to bring her back to reality.”

But part of that plea included an arrangement whereby Gibson could have that charge and plea expunged from his record. All he had to do was 16 hours of community service and 52 weeks of counseling, as well as three years probation.

And now all that is fulfilled. As of March, 2014, Gibson’s probation is up, his community service and counseling has been completed, and his lawyers say he is ready to see his record cleaned up.
