Mary-Kate Olsen, Olivier Sarkozy Marry in Smoky Affair on Friday

Mary-Kate Olsen–one half of the famous Olsen twins child stars, Mary-Kate and Ashley Olsen–tied the knot with Olivier Sarkozy in what was no doubt a smoky affair on Friday evening. A reception followed the small wedding, and was held at a private Manhattan residence, where guests were required to turn in their cell phones prior to entering.

Page Six reports that decor at the reception included “bowls and bowls filled with cigarettes, and everyone smoked the whole night.”

Olivier Sarkozy proposed to Mary-Kate Olsen back in 2014, and have lived together in New York since before that. Nearly 20 years her senior, Sarkozy is 46 and Mary-Kate Olsen is 29.

It was the role of little Michelle Tanner on the hit TV show Full House that Mary-Kate and twin Ashley Olsen first got their claim to fame. The girls shared the role because of child labor laws. John Stamos, their former costar and both star and producer of a reboot of the show, invited Mary-Kate and Ashley Olsen to sign on to the new show–Fuller House–but they declined. The twins initially said they hadn’t been invited to join the reboot, to which John Stamos loudly cried foul. He left the door open for the twins to appear at any time. The first season has now been filmed, with no sign of Mary-Kate Olsen or her twin.

Olivier Sarkozy is the half-brother of former French President Nicolas Sarkozy. He has two children from a prior marriage. This is Mary-Kate Olsen’s first marriage.

It will be fun to learn more details about the wedding, such as whether Ashley Olsen was her sister’s maid-of-honor.
