Liam Hemsworth and Miley Cyrus have history. That’s no secret.
They began their relationship while filming the 2009 romantic-drama film The Last Song.
After dating on and off for three years, they announced their engagement in June 2012. But unfortunately, they never made it down the aisle. In September of 2013, they opted to call it quits.
But now, rumors are circulating about a possible reconciliation. According to E! News, the two have been spending time together and, of course, their stolen moments have the media speculating. However, sources close to the Hunger Games actor and Cyrus have revealed they won’t be getting back together.
Although the two are still involved in each other’s lives, they have no desire to be involved romantically. “They’ve always stayed in touch,” one insider said.
Then, another source also confirmed the current status of their relationship. “They are not likely to reconcile. They have moved on but are still friends. They still care about each other but it’s not romantic.”
Another reason for all of the speculation may be Miley’s notable interview where she opened up about their relationship. The “Wrecking Ball” singer admitted she still loves Hemsworth and that the feeling is definitely mutual.
“I love Liam,” Miley said. “Liam loves me.” Several media outlets also reported Miley made the decision to call off their engagement, but she reportedly had a legitimate reason. “Miley’s decision, after coming to grips with Liam being what she believed was less than faithful to her,” an insider revealed.
Although Miley never confirmed or denied the alleged cheating rumors, she did put their breakup into perspective. The 21-year-old singer revealed their split was a means of personal growth for her.
“It’s about finding yourself, and sometimes you have to separate yourself from everyone,” she explained. “I just had to become this person who is sitting in this chair right now. If I didn’t, I just felt like there was something that was going to explode and I had to set myself free.”
