LeAnn Rimes Bashed For ‘Too Sexy’ Performance at Family-Friendly Tree-Lighting Ceremony At Rockefeller Center

LeAnn Rimes is being bashed for her “too sexy” performance at the tree-lighting ceremony at Rockefeller Center Wednesday night.

Rimes sang I Want A Hippopotamus For Christmas wearing a leather corset, leaving many infuriated that she would dress so inappropriately for the family-friendly event.

E! News remarked that both LeAnn Rimes and Mariah Carey took Christmas cheer a bit too far.

“LeAnn Rimes and Mariah Carey were among the stars who hit the stage for the Rockefeller Center Christmas tree lighting event in New York City on Wednesday night, and they were not shy about flaunting their curves in front of the thousands who gathered for the ceremony.

“LeAnn took the stage wearing a black bustier and form-fitting skirt with a high slit that revealed her black thigh-high stockings and an oversized coat that was falling off of her shoulders during the high-energy performance.”

Many viewers watching the ceremony later took to Twitter to vent their distaste at Rimes‘ choice of attire.

Wednesday’s wardrobe choice was quite a departure from the elegant dress she sported for Tuesday’s appearance on the Today Show.

The 32-year-old singer released the first of three holiday-themed EPs, One Christmas: Chapter 1. The album features traditional songs like Silent Night Holy Night and Blue Christmas, as well as I Want a Hippopotamus for Christmas.
