Lamar Odom Supports Father Figure Bruce Jenner During Transition

Lamar Odom and Khloe Kardashian may have gone their separate ways, but that doesn’t mean the NBA player hasn’t kept some of his family connections.

Hollywood Life reports that Lamar has been especially supportive of former father-in-law Bruce Jenner during his ongoing transition.

“Lamar’s been in constant communication with Bruce throughout his transition process and has been nothing short of the perfect son-in-law. He’s been to Bruce’s house several times since he’s moved there to check on him and make sure he was feeling alright,” a source tells them.

Bruce Jenner will speak in an exclusive interview on Friday with Diane Sawyer on a special episode of 20/20 about that transition. It is likely due in part to support from people like Lamar Odom that he has had the strength to be so open and honest about his ongoing changes.

“Lamar sees Bruce as a ‘father figure’ and respects all the advice and wisdom Bruce has given him over the years. He admires Bruce and thinks that if it’s his life’s quest to be a woman, then by all means, he should do it. Lamar’s incredibly supportive of Bruce and his transition. It takes a big man to live in his truth and Lamar thinks Bruce will be very happy in his new life,” the source adds.

Regardless of the situation between Lamar Odom and Khloe Kardashian (although some seem to think a reconciliation might be in the cards) it likely means a great deal to Khloe to know Lamar has her stepdad’s back.

“Lamar just wants Bruce to know that at the end of the day, he can count on him. Lamar wants to be that bedrock of love and support to Bruce, just as Bruce was to him when he was battling substance abuse and his marriage was falling apart. He told Bruce ‘I love you’ and ‘I’ve got your back if you need anything,’” the source said.

Kudos to people like Lamar Odom, who aren’t afraid to share love–even with those who an unfortunate few deem unlovable. That’s a true testament to his belief in the power of family.
