Kelly Ripa Compares Sound of Breaking Foot to Popping Bubble Wrap

Kelly Ripa broke her foot this week during a dance class and showed up on the set of Live! With Kelly and Michael on Thursday with crutches.

Co-host Michael Strahan helped Kelly get to her on-set chair just in time to hear her explain what happened.

“I was in a dance class which I typically, usually am, and somebody had left a weight on the floor….All I know is, I did a jump–and in my mind I am an incredible dancer as graceful as can be–and I landed on the weight and my foot went over and under the weight,” Kelly Ripa explained.

She also shared that the moment she broke her foot “sounded like bubble wrap.”

If that’s not enough to give readers a sick feeling in the pits of their stomachs, then they have a good bit of resolve.

Kelly Ripa insisted those at the dance facility not call an ambulance, as she was afraid she’d wind up on the nightly news.

On the upside of Ripa’s injury, she won’t have to undergo surgery to repair her broken foot.

“I’m not going to be in this that long,” Kelly Ripa said of her inflatable boot. “Six weeks, I give it three weeks.”

“This was my big hope and my dream that nobody would notice,” Ripa added about her injury. “It’s very traumatic looking but I feel fine.”

Do you suppose Kelly Ripa will at least get a bit of pampering out of her injury? Maybe hubby Mark Consuelos and co-star Michael Strahan will take extra-good care of Kelly in light of the crutches and boot.

She actually shared a funny story about her husband and her injury.

“Mark is at the hospital with me and has never in 21 years felt the need to photograph me, videotape me, when I have full hair and makeup,” Kelly Ripa explained to her audience. “But yesterday, he followed me around with a camera, he was never more alive, he loved this moment of suffering.”

Oh, yes. It sounds like Mark Consuelos owes Kelly Ripa for that one.

Michael Strahan is unlikely to get off the hook as well.

Now if only Kelly Ripa hadn’t compared that break to the sound of popping bubble wrap, everyone else besides Michael Strahan and Mark Consuelos could forget about her broken foot.
