Kelly Osbourne, “Former Fat Person”, Doing Plus-Sized Line

Kelly Osbourne, daughter of rocker Ozzy, has dabbled in several interests over the years; she’s a musician who has put out two albums and worked with her father on a duet for his hit “Changes; she’s a talk show co-host for E!’s “Fashion Police”; she’s modeled for Madonna and daughter Lourdes’ fashion house Material Girl; and now, she wants to make her own clothing line that will include fun, cute pieces for plus-sizes.

“When I sat down in this meeting and they said, ‘Yes, you have creative control and of course you can do plus size,’ I was like, ‘It’s happening!’” she said.

Osbourne says that growing up in the public eye changed the way she saw fashion and the industry as a whole, where it can be difficult to find a range of sizes in designer clothing.

“I’ve always been really into fashion. It’s just that my fashion choices at an early age were really odd and they still are. I have grown to understand, as much as I don’t like it, that the fashion world doesn’t really want to listen to what a little chubby girl has to say,” explained Osbourne — who shed 70 pounds since appearing on Dancing With the Stars in 2009 — with a laugh. “When I lost weight and started to wear the clothes I always wanted to wear but didn’t fit into, that’s when [my perception within the industry] really started to change. It did give me a bit of a bittersweet feeling towards the fashion world.”

Osbourne’s plan is to change all that, and to make a line that anyone would not only want to wear, but can wear.

“No one takes notice of a fat girl in fashion,” she said. “That’s the truth! It’s sad. That’s why I love women like Beth Ditto who are doing their own clothes. That’s why when my line comes out I’ll never make anything that won’t be translated to plus-size as well. Because everyone deserves to wear fashion.”
