Katy Perry: Should She Be Worried About Taylor Swift At The Super Bowl?

Katy Perry famously played the Super Bowl earlier this year, with rumors flying ahead of the performance that she was planning a jab at fellow pop star Taylor Swift, and many took her backup dancers’ costumes–which looked similar to something Taylor would wear–to be the jab in question. The singers were friends once upon a time, but after an interview in which Swift talked about another musician who was friendly to her face but tried to steal her backup dancers away from her during a tour, rumors began to circulate that she was talking about Perry. Since then, a “feud” has been built up between the women, and Swift has said that she won’t respond to questions about Perry anymore. Now, as Swift reportedly prepares for a performance at the 2016 Super Bowl halftime show, everyone’s wondering whether she’ll take the chance to shine Perry on.

Of course, the fact that Swift is reportedly considering the job at all so close to Perry’s performance may be a jab in itself. However, a source told RadarOnline that nothing is final just yet.

“It’s hers Taylor’s to refuse. Her team is working out the final details. She’s just waiting on financials from the NFL before signing on the dotted line,” the source said.

Swift told Rolling Stone recently that the unnamed “friend” who tried to steal her dancers away was very good at what Bridget Jones would call “jellyfishing”: throwing out barbs disguised as nice conversation.

“For years, I was never sure if we were friends or not. She would come up to me at awards shows and say something and walk away, and I would think, ‘Are we friends, or did she just give me the harshest insult of my life?’ She basically tried to sabotage an entire arena tour. She tried to hire a bunch of people out from under me,” Taylor said. “And I’m surprisingly non-confrontational — you would not believe how much I hate conflict. So now I have to avoid her. It’s awkward, and I don’t like it.”
