Katy Perry Dissed By Lady Gaga At SXSW

Is there a rivalry between Lady Gaga and Katy Perry? This past week at the South By Southwest music festival in Austin, TX, Lady Gaga dismissed any comparisons between herself and Katy. “I don’t know what the f–k I have to do with Katy Perry,” Gaga said onstage at the Austin Convention Center. “Our music is so completely different. I couldn’t be any more different than her, really.”

The so-called “feud” had been brewing ever since last August, when both pop stars released their new singles (Perry with “Roar” and Gaga with “Applause”) on the same day. Back then, Gaga told Ryan Seacrest, “I really like Katy Perry and her fans,” trying to squash any rivalry between the two. Since then the two ladies have been busy supporting their albums on world tours, with Katy Perry’s “Prism” undoubtedly outperforming Gaga’s “Artpop,” thanks to the success of her catchy radio hits and perhaps her publicized romance with now ex-boyfriend John Mayer.

Meanwhile, back at SXSW Gaga gave a controversial performance where she allowed painter Millie Brown to throw up on her while on stage, performing the rest of her set with the vomit on her body. “It was just exciting to see people talk about performance art on the internet,” Gaga says. “We really just did it because we believe in the performance and we believe in what it meant to the song.”
