Fans are quite familiar with the witty, upbeat and humorous Katherine Heigl they see on the big screen. Now, she’s sharing a different façade of her life with the world.
The famed Life As We Know It actress recently sat down for an intimate interview with Good Housekeeping Magazine.
The detailed discussion, which took place at her secluded ranch in Utah, revealed a lot about the domesticated side of Heigl’s life with her husband Josh Kelley and their daughters – Naleigh, 5 and Adalaide, 2.
She spoke fondly of the quiet lifestyle they have in Utah. The farm-lifestyle and seclusion are two gratifying aspects of their “big dream.”
“We had big dreams of expanding our family, moving to the mountains and having a quieter life,” she told the publication. “Utah is spectacularly beautiful, the people are wonderful and kind, it’s an easy commute from L.A. — and there’s no traffic!”
Heigl also touched on the religious beliefs that helped to structure her life. The former Grey’s Anatomy star, who was raised in The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-days Saints, accredited the foundation her family built on their faith for the amazing childhood she had.
“That structure and discipline was really good for me,” she said. “I had a childhood that was a childhood. I listened to my parents. I respected the rules.”
Heigl even admitted at one time she felt her priorities weren’t in order. At one time, her hectic work schedule was keeping her away from home more often than not. So, she ultimately decided changes needed to be made in order for her family to come first.
“I felt like my priorities were messed up,” she told Good Housekeeping. “I was putting so much time and energy into just my work, but I was raised (to believe) that family comes first.”
