Jordin Sparks “Celebrates” Whitney Houston Duet

“American Idol” alum Jordin Sparks was a guest on Ryan Seacrest’s radio show this morning, where she premiered the duet she did with Whitney Houston just before her death earlier this year. The song, “Celebrate”, is from the upcoming film “Sparkle“, which stars both songstresses and will be released in theaters this August. It was the last song Houston was able to record and will serve as a legacy to fans and friends alike.

The song, which was produced by R. Kelly, is an upbeat tune about being hopeful and celebrating life, as well as each other. Sparks gave an emotional tribute to Houston at the Billboard Music Awards last night, singing the hit “I Will Always Love You”. Shots of the crowd during the performance showed Houston’s daughter with Bobby Brown, Bobbi Christina, with tears rolling down her face.

Sparks said she felt a lot of pressure before the performance to make it special.

β€œIt’s just very special. I feel very honored to be able to honor Whitney in this way and to sing one of her songs. I’ve actually never performed this song before ever. It’s one of the songs I’ve always been like, ‘Leave that alone,’ so it’s nerve-racking for me,” she said.
