With less than one month to go before the Gretna Heritage Festival, the event’s lineup has just undergone a significant shift. The music festival, a three-day event that will take place in New Orleans on the bank of the Mississippi River, was set to feature acts such as Lynyrd Skynyrd, Gregg Allman Band, and CeeLo Green. Now, CeeLo Green has been cut from the lineup and Joan Jett & The Blackhearts will be taking his place.
The festival announced Friday that Green was given the boot because he “does not represent the festival’s wholesome family environment.” On August 29 Green pleaded no contest to a felony drug charge and received three years probation. The charge stemmed from an incident in which Green allegedly slipped MDMA (ecstasy) into a woman’s drink.
Green exacerbated the situation last week with a series of tweets about the incident. The tweets included insensitive remarks such as, “People who have really been raped REMEMBER!!!” Green later deleted the tweets and issued an apology, saying his comments “were idiotic, untrue, and not what I believe.”
I truly and deeply apologize for the comments attributed to me on Twitter. Those comments were idiotic, untrue and not what I believe.

Green was also dropped from the lineup of an upcoming Freedom Live concert at a Washington D.C. military base following the tweets. The 39 year old singer’s reality show The Good Life was cancelled last week by TBS.
Replacing Green at the Gretna Heritage Festival will be rock legend Joan Jett. Jett last made headlines one year ago when her vegetarianism caused a stir among the citizens of South Dakota. She also joined the remaining members of Nirvana on-stage in April when the band was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame.
