Jim Bob Duggar: Incest Should Carry Death Penalty (Oops)

Jim Bob Duggar may now have joined his wife Michelle on the list of Duggars who may have to eat their words in the wake of the Josh Duggar molestation scandal.

Josh Duggar issued a statement owning up tot he molestation rumors that have been floating around about him. In the end, the public learned that Josh Duggar — who worked for a conservative Christian organization that fights against LGBT rights — had molested five girls when he was 14. Four of the five girls were his own sisters.

Meanwhile, Jim Bob Duggar was issuing strong words of condemnation against incest.

Jim Bob Duggar ran for Senate in 2003, challenging incumbent Senator Tim Hutchison. Duggar lost that race, but his campaign website reveals some interesting opinions.

“Rape and incest represent heinous crimes and as such should be treated as capital crimes,” his website said of Jim Bob Duggar’s position on those issues.

When it came to light that his own son had molested his sisters, Jim Bob Duggar and wife Michelle handled the matter privately, reportedly following the advice of a policeman friend of their’s who is now in prison himself on child pornography charges.

Michelle Duggar has since equated people seeking LGBT rights as “child predators.”

But now that their own son is in hot water for these acts, the Duggar parents say:

“When Josh was a young teenager, he made some very bad mistakes, and we were shocked.”

Some have questioned whether Josh Duggar’s conservative Christian upbringing, including being part of a faith that stresses that women “submit” to men, may have played a part in his actions.

His own mother reportedly stresses that women should submit to sex with their men, even if they themselves feel too tired to do so.

Some have slammed the Josh Duggar scandal as being politically motivated and challenge that the Left does not demonize Lena Dunham, who admitted to inappropriately touching her little sister when Lena herself was only seven years old.
