Jennifer Beals To Make Her Return To Television

There seems to be a new show announced almost every day lately, and the latest star to receive a new show is Jennifer Beals. She is an actress that has enjoyed time in both film and television, and will be returning to TV after several years of being away from the medium.

Jennifer Beals is set to be the star of a new show on TNT, and it will be a supernatural medical show called Proof. She will play Dr. Kathryn Russo, a skeptical, hard-science, brilliant female surgeon with a caustic edge who has been struggling with the devastating loss of her teenage son and a growing estrangement from her surviving daughter.

Proof will also have a supernatural element to it, and her character is someone who is persuaded to investigate cases of reincarnation, out-of-body experiences, and other mysterious events. Throughout, she will be looking for verifiable proof to answer one of life’s greatest questions: Is death truly the end, or is there something else beyond?

The show will be executive produced by Kyra Sedgwick, who has plenty of experience with the TNT network after her hit drama The Closer, which ran from 2005 until 2012. It will be written by Rob Bragin, and directed by Alex Graves.

In other recent news of former television actresses returning, Katie Holmes was just booked to star in an upcoming ABC pilot, which is said to have comparisons to the classic Dangerous Liaisons.

Jennifer Beals gained her initial fame from the medium of television on the hit Showtime drama The L Word. She has also appeared in other shows such as Lie To Me, The Chicago Code, and a few episodes of Castle.

Of course, Beals first became a star after starring in the 1983 dance film Flashdance, and has since appeared in several films including The Book Of Eli and Runaway Jury.

Jennifer Beals, who is now 50 years old, will be joining a long of list of celebrities who have played doctors, in some cases, helping to jump-start their career, such as Patrick Dempsey and Hugh Laurie.
