iPhone 6 Rumor: Device Could Have 5-Inch Screen

Tomorrow, Apple is set to unveil its latest flagship smartphone, the iPhone 5S, as well as the low-cost iPhone 5C. Over the past month, daily leaks have made sure that there will almost certainly be no surprises at tomorrow’s event. So, with no new information to be had about the 5S, the tech rumor mill is, of course, turning its focus to next year’s iPhone.

9 to 5 Mac this weekend reported that the iPhone 6 could have a screen size of up to 5 inches. The report cites a KGI Securities analyst as saying next year’s iPhone could have a screen between 4.5 and 5 inches in size.

The larger screen size seems reasonable, given Apple’s history of keeping its iPhone screen sizes smaller than premium Android handsets, some of which have screens that have grown to over 6 inches. The iPhone 6 rumor comes amid recent reports that Apple has been testing larger displays, some up to 6-inches.

In addition to a larger smartphone, supply chain rumors from last month held that both Apple and Samsung are working on mega tablets with screen sizes of 12-inches or larger. Of course, all of these predictions are coming before even the iPhone 5S has been officially announced. Apple has over one year to finalize its 2014 product lineup, and early predictions in previous years have tended toward the silly.
