Infant Motrin Recall For 200,000 Bottles

Nearly 200,000 bottles of Concentrated Motrin Infants’ Drops have been recalled due to plastic particles. According to the Motrin website, the medicine is used to reduce fever as well as relieve minor aches and pains related to the multiple ailments such as the common cold, flu, toothaches, headaches, and a sore throat.

Johnson & Johnson released an announcement on behalf of McNeil Consumer Healthcare that included the following:

McNeil Consumer Healthcare is initiating this voluntary recall because some of these products may not meet required quality standards. This recall is not being undertaken on the basis of adverse medical events. However, as a precautionary measure, parents and caregivers should not administer these products to their children. Some of the products included in the recall may contain a higher concentration of active ingredient than is specified; others may contain inactive ingredients that may not meet internal testing requirements; and others may contain tiny particles. While the potential for serious medical events is remote, the company advises consumers who have purchased these recalled products to discontinue use.

The company is conducting a comprehensive quality assessment across its manufacturing operations and has identified corrective actions that will be implemented before new manufacturing is initiated at the plant where the recalled products were made.

It has been advised that consumers who have specific questions about the recall direct these inquiries to the company by contacting a representative through 1-877-414-7709.

McNeil Consumer Healthcare announced the recall last month, which included three lot numbers. These are the recalled lot numbers DCB3T01, DDB4R01, and DDB4S01.

While parents are concerned about the ramifications for their children, the company released the following statement, “The potential for adverse medical events related to the reason for this recall is not likely.”
