How I Met Your Mother Gets A Spinoff

office tech trends

As any fan of the show that has now lasted for 9 seasons knows, How I Met Your Mother will be coming to an end at the end of the current season.

As a result, and to some fans delight, CBS has decided to make a spin-off to the series, and it will be called How I Met Your Dad.

How I Met Your Mother is a wildly succesful comedy that has enjoyed a long run on CBS, and stars Josh Radnor as Ted, along with Alyson Hannigan, Jason Segel, Neil Patrick Harris, and Cobie Smulders.

In order to keep with the theme of the original show, it seems like How I Met Your Father would make more sense, but in any case, the show has been given the go-ahead by CBS, and they made a deal after only two weeks of negotiations with 20th Century Fox for a pilot order. After 9 years, and a mother finally being revealed in the season 8 finale, the show is finally coming to an end.

With the title, the new show will of course feature a female’s perspective, and the new show will come from Carter Bays and Craig Thomas, who were the creators and executive producers of How I Met Your Mother. It will still follow a similar plot-line, with a dragged out plot that will one day introduce a couple of kids to their dad, who the audience is never aware of.

Some people feel that How I Met Your Mother has already went on for too long, and clearly would not support a spinoff, but other fans continue tuning in, making it hard to tell how the spin-off would fare.

Do you watch How I Met Your Mother? Would you watch a spin-off of the series? Weigh in with your thoughts.

The new show unfortunately will not have any of the same cast members as How I Met Your Mother, but the show will have a brand new story and narrator. However, the two stories will be linked by the gang’s favorite hang out and bar, McClaren’s that everyone has seen them drinking in for the past 9 seasons.

Most fans would certainly welcome the new show, since How I Met Your Mother continues to draw in audiences, and remains to be CBS’ highest-rated Monday series, and the second-highest-rated overall behind The Big Bang Theory.
