The Unlikely Allies YouTube channel has released a new House of Cards: Season 2 parody, featuring an intro from executive producer fake David Fincher and fake Netflix CEO Reed Hastings, explaining how they used Season 1’s audience viewing habits to construct the second season.
As you may know, House of Cards itself was conceived based on Netflix viewing habits. The company knew it could gain an audience thanks to data on Kevin Spacey films and political dramas, for example.
“What was truly revolutionary was the platform,” explains fake David Fincher.
“Releasing all the episodes at once on Netflix enabled us unprecedented access into our audience’s viewing habits,” says fake Hastings. “We know when they’re watching, for how long…we even know when they pause or rewind.”
“And people overwhelmingly chose to repeat the scene in episode one where Frank Underwood murders a dog,” says fake Fincher.
“And Netflix listened,” adds fake Hastings. “We ended up with a Season 2 that stayed true to the gritty political drama that was Season 1 while adding all the dog murder that our audiences apparently couldn’t get enough of.”
