Heidi Montag: Hubby Spencer Pratt Makes Insensitive 9/11 Remark Regarding Their Career

Heidi Montag and Spencer Pratt starred on The Hills until its cancellation in 2010. In a recent interview with Vice’s Broadly, they both make some very questionable remarks about their careers. It’s plain to see these two are very self-serving and that they hugely overestimated their pull as reality TV stars.

“We were fame whores, getting literally a million plus a year in photos and being hated for it,” Pratt says in the article. “It’s frustrating for me that people don’t recognize that this was genius. This was innovating!”

He also referred to the show’s cancellation as their “personal 9/11.” How callous. Heidi Montag’s husband actually compares the tragic deaths of countless people and the day a nation was forever changed to the cancellation of a reality TV show.

Heidi Montag floors readers with a comment, too, and while it’s likely a bold-faced lie, at least it’s not as insensitive as Spencer’s.

“The biggest misconception about us is that we wouldn’t do it all over again,” she said.

Right.

Who is she trying to convince–herself or her readers? The readers likely aren’t having it.

Heidi Montag and Spencer Pratt will soon celebrate their seventh wedding anniversary. They’ve been a couple for 10 years. And while they still have a bit of B-list celebrity draw, most people don’t give them a second thought.

In the years since the show ended they’ve run the gamut of making money on their reality show laurels. Heidi Montag co-authored a book and made appearances on TV shows including I’m a Celebrity…Get Me Out of Here, Celebrity Big Brother in the U.K., Celebrity Wife Swap, and just last year, Marriage Boot Camp: Reality Stars. Spencer has likely been busy simply being Spencer.

Heidi Montag and Spencer Pratt have been in the media more for people disliking them than for their reality show fame in recent years–especially their former costar Lauren Conrad. The war of words between the two parties has been ongoing and as recent as 2015.

Were you ever a Heidi Montag and/or Spencer Pratt fan? What do you think of them today?

And what’s your take on that insensitive comment about 9/11?
