Kawehi is a Kansas-based one-woman band who does incredible covers of the songs we love. While covers are sometimes hard to do in good balance–not too contrived, not so different from the original that it makes the listener lose interest–this lady knows how to take a song you know and love and wonder why you weren’t listening to her version all along.
The Hawaii-born musician recently did a cover of Nirvana’s “Heart Shaped Box”, arguably one of the best songs from their later years, and grabbed the attention of Esquire and Courtney Love herself, which has to feel good.
