Gwyneth Paltrow: Jay-Z and Beyonce Are ‘Self-Aware’

When Gwyneth Paltrow dropped in on Howard Stern last week, he pumped her for all kind of info. She talked about having almost been cast in a Vanilla Ice movie, and why she turned that down.

But Stern also got Gwyneth Paltrow talking about her childhood. He specifically joked about a school she went to when she lived in California as a child.

“We had this awesome teacher’s aide when I was in the fifth grade, and every morning she would put on [Marvin Gaye’s song] ‘Sexual Healing.’ We would meditate. I’m not entirely sure what their philosophy was at the time, something to do with the development of the kid. And to be fair, I still have like five best friends from that time, Kindergarten through sixth grade. We didn’t actually learn that much.”

Which led to discussion about Gwyneth Paltrow’s friends. Apparently she has more friends that no one has ever heard of than she knows celebs.

“My best friend in the world, I met when I was four. She’s not famous. She’s the greatest human ever. I have some famous friends, but I have mostly not famous friends.”

Stern had to get Gwyneth Paltrow to namedrop. Who were some of her famous friends?

“My best famous friend is Cameron Diaz, and Jay and Beyonce are my other famous friends. I met Jay first at a benefit in New York, probably — I think I had had my daughter but not my son yet — and we all became friends. I normally don’t do that, but Chris and Jay just vibed. I don;t know if they were talking about doing work together and that’s how it got started. They’re the greatest people. They’re funny and sweet and they’re self-aware and intelligent.”

Gwyneth Paltrow revealed that she is a big supporter of her famous friends. If any of them ever get into trouble, she’s on the phone right away.

“If any of my famous friends ever have [a scandal] I call right away. If it’s some stupid thing that you read that might be rtue or not true, no. But if it’s something that they’re going through, I always go straight for it.”
