Gwen Stefani Made A Flub At The Emmys, But What Happened To Her Face?

Rocker Gwen Stefani of No Doubt made a mess when she presented an award to Stephen Colbert at the 2014 Emmy Awards last Monday, but the star is joining in the fun made at her expense.

On the final episode of Chelsea Lately on Tuesday, Stefani made fun of her Emmys mistake when she introduced the show’s last musical number. She introduced talk show host Chelsea Handler as “Chelsea Hammer,” which got the audience laughing in their seats. The joke was in reference to her mispronunciation of Colbert’s name as “Col-bort” at the Emmys.

Colbert didn’t seem to be bothered by the flub, and even joked about it himself. “(She’s) evidently not a huge fan of the show. But I’m a huge fan of hers. I want to get her abs. That’s what I aspire to,” he said. When the Emmy-winning show The Colbert Report aired on Tuesday night, he and show runners displayed a sense of humor when they spelled Colbert’s name as “Colbore” in the show’s opening credits.

The subtle joke was a nod to Stefani’s name flub. After she made her mistake on Monday night, her co-presenter Adam Levine reportedly teased her onstage. Jimmy Fallon also couldn’t resist using the incident as an excuse to interrupt Colbert’s acceptance speech to joke about their impending late night talk show rivalry.

Voices on the Internet are reportedly likening Stefani’s mistake to John Travolta’s flub at the Oscars earlier this year when he mispronounced Idina Menzel’s name as “Adele Dazeem”.

But Stefani’s mistake wasn’t the only thing on netizens’ minds during the Emmys. Tweets speculating on whether the 44-year-old rocker had work done on her face have cropped up online, saying she was “unrecognizable”. Stefani had also attended the MTV Video Music Awards for the first time since 2005 the night before the Emmys, and her looks elicited the same reaction.
