Guinness Creates Submarine Bar For Anniversary

When most beer enthusiasts think of Guinness, they think of a room-temperature dark stout, or perhaps the almost coffee-like aftertaste the ale leaves on the palate. One does not automatically think of an underwater craft.

Yet Guinness is celebrating their 250th anniversary by creating a unique underwater bar aboard a specially-built submarine, thanks to architecture firm Jump Studios. The buoyant bar, though a tad cramped, features a slick and futuristic-looking interior with sculpted seating for several people and, of course, cup holders.

The submarine was designed as part of the Guinness Sea Experience, a contest to celebrate the anniversary of founder Arthur Guinness signing the infamous 9,000 year lease on the Dublin brewery and which saw the winner and two guests take the first ever voyage in the underwater bar.
